I have lost 172 pounds so far, and an introduction :)
Hello I am a 30 something Father who just a year ago weighed 534 pounds and was worried about the longevity of my life, in just a years time I have lost 172 pounds and have significantly improved my health, I currently weigh 362 pounds and I did/am doing it with calorie counting and exercise.
Sometimes ya gotta take a look in the mirror and give an honest assessment to see that theres a problem. I did that a while ago and decided that it was time to take control of a situation that could only have gotten worse, so I did. fear stared me in the face and told me that that it is high noon and time to make a decision.
12 months has brought me 172 pounds less and I have relearned how to fuel my body. Jan 1st 2008 a 534 pound man decided that enough was enough and a year later He was 172 pounds lighter, I still have a lot of work to do and I think 2009 will be the year that I hit my goal of weighing 275 pounds. Congratulations on your positive life changes. It's always nice to stumble upon yet another person who has managed to make changes through a healthy lifestyle and not through surgery or magic pills. You are now a member of a very special club and I, for one (having started at 400 lbs -- now at 185), welcome you!
What an inspiration and great role model you are.

Congrats!!! You have done amazing things to change your life. It really does all boil down to enough is enough doesn't it! You will find that there are a lot of friends here. Most of us are all in search of the same thing. Health. Life, Peace , Self exceptance, and being here long enough to welcome our grandkids! Wow that is Awesome and amazingly inspiring to me. I am soon to to join you and kaufmkk in the 150 lbs lost catgory.
On June 1st I weighed in at an eye opening 453 and knew it was change my life or never see fourty. My birthday is in two weeks and I am positive I am going to be under 300 for the first time in five years as I only need to loose five more pounds.
I know the three of us can all hit our goals in 09'. You story inspires and motivates me to keep up the fight.

Whats your plan? Count calories? What kind of exercise? Do you work too? Very curious and I need all the information I can get.
