Congratulations, LadyDeathBird!!! You must have worked very very hard, and that's fantastic about the BMI! What a motivator - you've completely and totally created a new lifestyle for yourself! Way to go!!!
Truly inspiring! Thanks for posting, and CONGRATULATIONS!!
Now, I have an identical twin sister who is where I was and when I asked her why she wasn't doing what I was doing to drop the weight. You know what she said? "I don't want to spend 4 hours at the gym." I told her that I spend on average about an hour and a half doing elliptical throughout the day 4 days a week. I do weights twice a week (trust me to keep the loose skin away get that in your routine now plus its amps your metabolism) and I try to keep to under 1500 cals a day. I am not saying to go ape...over the working out part, but hey with 3 kids playing with them is probably equal to or greater than an hour and a half on the elliptical plus probably works more body parts.
Also mind you I started this battle in early 2006 so it has been a long hard battle and will probably be a fight to the death. But so long as you keep fighting and never give in, then you will win the battle every single time, even if its a pound a month lost.
OH! I just remembered...every time I get to the low somethings (80s, 70s) my sister did give me good advice. She said up your protein and you will get over the hump/plateau. I have whey protein (vanilla is 20 grams of protein) that I add a banana and half a cup of light vanilla soy milk to and walla, protein shake. Let me know if I can provide any additional yummo tips to help amp up your weight loss without you feeling deprived.
Btw they also have chocolate whey protein..yummy.
I remember passing the 170 benchmark and it made me so happy so congrats!
I know you can do it
ive gone from 220 to 137 and Im working on my GW of 125
so while Ill likely never feel that hundred pound loss excitment, I hope to be able to feel like 95 lb loss excitement
(Ive been working on it for 4 years now)
This is absolutely awe-inspiring. I can't congratulate you enough on your determination, commitment, and staying power.
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!
Same here. Feels awesome, doesn't it!
Congrats and continued success!
How freakin' awesome is that!???? Thank you so much for sharing!!! I bet you feel AMAZING!!! As you should, keep up the good work, you are an inspiration![]()
I lost 80 pounds over 14 months starting like you back in 2006, fell off the wagon, and have gained back half in 6 months. I agree it is a battle that will be life-long. After winning round one and losing round two to my old habits, I'm back for round three of weight loss and health changes, but it is HARD. Eventually, I want to lose the 40 I gained back plus another 50, so eventually, I will (I pray) be down 130 pounds from my original weight. How long did it take you to do it? What kind of exercising do you do? Did you ever have "cheat" meals or days? Long plateaus? (that's what kicked my butt last time--I stalled for 5 weeks and gave up).
I'd love any help and suggestions you can give for staying motivated, making a workout fun, and doing this long-term. You sound like you've got it all figured out, and that's amazing! Way to go! :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You must feel wonderful! What an accomplishment, you should be very proud. :-)
Way to go girl........ Wish I had your will power cause I need all the help I can get at this point Congrats
Way to go! You are a good example for the rest of us... CONGRATULATIONS!! Will put you down as a friend to keep an eye your SUCCESS... ;-)
Congratulations!!!
I really admire you and the other lady who went from 220-135.
I am currently at 235 and it seems like no matter what I do the weight wont budge!!
How did you come up with your cals for weightloss?
I started in early 06 (I think it was more like March when I really got off my rear and started working out) and just told myself to do an hour and a half a day on the elliptical (before work, breaks, and lunch) and started counting the calories via a spreadsheet. I then decided to look around for some additional help sans the cost and found our happy place here.
I have had MANY plateaus (mom tried to derail me, changed jobs...gained like 40 pounds back and lost it again and then some), and the standard body getting used to everything. For a while there even looking at the elliptical was starting to drive me crazy...so I added more treadmill to the routine and finally decided to add weights back into the routine.
For those interested about the daily calorie intake. I have been playing around with that a bit. I do have splurge days (Sunday) but I still wrote everything down. Sometimes your body wants to feel reassured I suppose to know that it has access to food as it needs it. I do no less than 1200 calories though because we all know we have to have fuel to keep our internal furnaces stoked.
Some of the foods I eat are eggstarts, morning star sausage (I find putting a couple of patties in my egg starts, spray pam in the rubbermaid containers beforehand and nuke it in the microwave..yum), fiber one bars (9 grams of fiber and chocolate!), recently, banana smoothy (vanilla whey protein, light vanilla soy milk, and a banana..yum!)
I had a nutritionist tell me something about your intake percentages should be like:
20 % fat
30 % protein
50 % complex carbs (you need to get your body to do some work so go for the fiber!)
Kristinedaqueen, try doing a day or two of amping up your protein intake...ironically enough that seems to do the trick for me each time I am trying to get over the next hurdle.
Thanks again everyone!
hello! huge congrats!
my goal is 140 also, i am at 197 and started at 262, so your story tells me "it is possible" - thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, great job. You must have some wonderful willpower. You give me great hope though. I started this journey at 267, so at least now I know it can be done. Thanks for posting.
First of all - CONGRATS! I am so thankful there is something like this to share the excitement as well as woes with people!
Second...after loosing 20 pounds about 8 months ago, I am at a plataeu. I still need to loose 20-30 more, but I am loosing motavation and heart that it will ever happen for me. I have found that hearing stories of others has been the best motivation of all.
Does anyone know where to look for inspiring stories? I need all the push I can get.
Thanks!
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
