Weight Loss

HELLO ALL...............
I figured I would put this into a thread as I have explained this to quite a few people and the typing gets repetative. I will explain my story and how I did it.. this is what is working for me....
Summary: I have lost 107 lbs since Jan 1, 2007
Jan 1, 07 weighed : 363 lbs
July 27 (today) - 256 lbs ( loss of 107 lbs)
And it started like this: I went to the doctor Nov 27, 06 said I weighed 363 lbs.. NO WAY.. NOT ME..........................
I watched a video on New Years eve of my family on Christmas Day. That was not me.... I Truly thought that in my brain.... that was the night my life would change! I decided then... Lets do it. Tomorrow starts a NEW YEAR! and I did.
Ever wonder how many calories you should eat in one day? Look up your BMR (Basal Metobolic Rate) = the # of calories your body burns in a 24 hour period with your body at full rest! . It all depends on your current weight, height & age.
Mine now is about 2000 cal. Thats means my body burns 2000 cal a day even if I NEVER got out of bed.... So.. If I eat only 2000 cal a day.... EVERYTHING I do all I am doing is burning calories! Everything from waking up, to driving, to dressing, to grocery shopping, to working, to chasing kids, to showering.... burning extra fat! Every 3500 calories you burn... you burn a pound of stored fat. So if you eat nothing but your BMR, then of course your burning more calories that you eat, because what you eat, ( your BMR) your body burns NATURALLY to live! If you eat 2000 cal (MINUS) what your body burns automatically (2000) then you have ZERO calories left. Everything you do your burning calories, even digesting food your burning calories.... so of course you will have a Negative Calories Number. This # is called your calorie deficit. I can help you figure out your calorie deficit as well. I know this is long, but I have been helping everyone that emails me, and its easier to refer them to this, and then everyone who wants there own BMR or Calorie Deficit to email me with your #'s and I will respond back . I hope this is helpful.. Questions PLEASE ASK!!!!
Thanks Trisha
I eat 6-7 times a day...
6:30 - 7:00 AM / 9:30-10:00 / NOON / 2:00- 2:30 / 4:45- 5:00 ( before I leave work - cause by the time I go to the gym, I dontget home till 8 Pm, and I dont want to eat that late) and a snack at 7:30 - 8:00 ....
Snacks never go above 250 calories
Remember this.. If it comes in a box or a bag DON't EAT IT... If God didnt give it to us naturally, then dont eat it. There are slim exceptions mainly being yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, I do eat All Brab / Bran Buds for my fiber..
SHOP THE OUTSIDE PERIMITER OF THE GROCERY STORE. THAT IS THE FRESH / KEEP COLD ISLES.

Hay there thanks for all that helpful info its encouraging to know someone who started where close to me and has had such successful results. My email is nicensweet0516@yahoo. I would really appreciate anything you email me. Anyways so what did u base your diet on low calories only of did eliminate a majority of carbs? I cant get myself to eat. I feel like I will just gain and never lose. The first time I tryed this calorie-count thing along with intense exercise the scale was not moving for me. Then I went on an appetite suppressent and now I eat very little if nothing and I still work out 6 days a week for 1 hr. Now the scale has moved from 294 in the 1st week of June to 273 today. Anyways I hope u can help. Thanks:)

Okay, you were eating how many calories a day?
You said that you had 2200 caloried deficite??? Wow, how in the world did you manage that? You must have burned tons of cal in the gym.

I ate 2000 calories a day..... and the everything I did daily I was burning calories..... When I started going to the gym even after 3 weeks on the elliptical I could only burn like 400-500 calories an hour. Now I burn 1200 in an hour. But.. sitting at a desk job 8 hours a day... burns 8-50 calories, plus cooking, showering, doing laundry all of that adds up. Call me a buys person yes.. I have horses.. if I ride an hour I am burning 381 calories... so it didnt take long to add up to 2200 whne you do 1200 on the machine for an hour each day. I didnt miss ONE day at the gym while on the weight off... I needed something to motivate me!
cesty8 - when I mean deficit, you do know that I burn 2000 on my own just LIVING, so I eat 2000 cal. The rest is a deficit ( calories I am burning because the 2000 calories wipe each other out) like this
2000 ate
2000 burn on my own daily with no activity & nbsp; &nbs p; & nbsp; &nbs p; & nbsp; ----------
0 left to burn.....
-1200 at the gym
-850 working daily
-120 driving my car 2 hours daily
- all the other little odds and ends... this total here is 2170.. calories burned without being a mom or bathing kids.. brushing / feeding horse... Its not that large of a deficit, the hard part is staying withing my BMR eating wise. And When I started on this, my BMR was 2900 calories, and I never ate that many.. . I usually ate 2200 at that point so my body was buring extra there too. Does that help?

Girlfriend, I started out at nearly 300 pounds and now I'm down to 238. I know exactly how you are feeling right now.
I'd love to see any of your stuff you're using. I have a gym membership too - and I can track cals and stuff on here or on Word.
If you want to do this together and just sort of have a buddy in your struggles, well I'm your gal!
You rock girlie!

Hi! I really enjoyed your post and congrats on the amazing loss!!
Well I was a freshman in high school this year and I had mono and was out of school for one month
Then a month later I had lyme disease and was out another month
This wasn't a great year for me. I mean all I could do was sleep, eat, and watch tv. I did alot of eating. I gained 20 pounds and I was so mad at myself
Well my email is just_blondeambition@yahoo.com and I was hoping that you could email me and help me
I am 5 feet 4 inches, I am 14 years old, and I weigh 132 pounds.
What I do in my day is I get up at 7:15 and I eat my breakfast then at 8 I ride my bike about 4 miles to my swim club and I have swim team practice at 9:45-11:15. Its pretty rough stuff but we do have a couple minute-long rests. Then I get out of the pool and wait for about an hour and 30 minutes until the pool opens at 1. I am in the pool for 30 minutes and then I tan and read for about 30 minutes.
I also eat about 1000 calories every day
I would love your help trying to figure out how much more exercising I should do.
Because I really want to lose 22 pounds and get down to my original weight of 110.
And like michellesmith0 maybe we could all be buddies because I would really like someone to help me through this.
Thanks a million for reading and all this help your doing!

My Plan Is As Follows:
1800 calories a day (my Resting Metabolic Rate), walking 3 miles a day, using treadmill at the gym, making sure I use weights as a part of my routine for arms, abs and legs, to prevent loose skin where possible, using loads of cocoa butter and special oils for the stretch marks and most of all....
loads of fresh raw fruits and veggies where possible. I find that when I'm eating fish, whole grains, and loads of fruit and veg, the weight FALLS off. AND WATER IS ESSENTIAL TO REMOVING FAT!
OH! And some exercises that burn cals QUICK (100 cals in just a few minutes): JUMPING ROPE and rebounding (mini-trampoline).
I'm American but I live in the UK (England) - I'm 6 hours ahead of American Central Standard Time... I am on a laptop all day for work and then at home too so I am online ALL the time.
** Oh and I've lost 62 pounds so far just doing this - I started Jan 1st This year! So we have A LOT in common!!!
I did a 10 day cleanse first though to break some habits but to be honest, I've had the most success doing exactly the plan I detailled above.
Stefanie Lynn, Sorry I know it's a lot of sweat and hard work plus you do really have to accept that your body needs a certain level of cals (mine needs 1800 no matter what) - most people want the easy fix but they honestly don't work for long. I promise. I've tried them all!!!
AND I'll be 28 in August so we're the same age, Trish!! SO SO COOL!

Stefanie Lynn,
Two things - one, you are not going to believe this but you aren't eating enough. You body is probably hoarding the food you're eating because you are exercising and not eating much and it's scared you are in the middle of no where with no food around.
Use the tools on calorie count and find out how many calories you should be consuming for an active lifestyle to reach your goal weight. It will tell you EXACTLY how many cals to eat and in what time frame is realistic.
I swear, it's hard to accept but if you are feeding your body the right kinds of foods it will trigger your body to give up the fat it's hoarding and you will see the results. PROMISE.

Hay there sorry bout that maybe I needed to put the .com, so its nicensweet0516@yahoo.com, I hope that works. Again thanks. Anyways I purty much eat very very little during the week. During the day here at work if I eat somthing its usually raw veggies with some dip, sliced ham, string cheese, pickles, oh ya and pistacios. Thats what its been this last two weeks. Then when I get home if I have time then I eat a salad. If not then I dont eat anything and go straight to the gym. Since Ive been working out I have been doing the same thing. Eliptical 30 minutes (burn 300+ cals), then treadmill 30 minutes=2miles=300+cals. I work in a Drs office so im usually up and about. Then on the weekends I dont eat very much more but I mite treat myself to something that I mite not usually have. So my concern today is that this last few weeks I have been used to seeing the scale go down and down. If I keep up with this routine do yall think itll keep coming off. I would appreciate any advice since I know youve been where Im at.
Michellesmith0-
Any advice would be greatly appreciated also.
Thanks Girlies!!:)

Okay, I am all ears, or eyes in this case. What are the right kinds of foods to get my body to burn fat?
Lots of friuits, veggies and water right?

I have a group on Yahoo. If you're interested in joining let me know. I'm not allowed to post it here.
michellesmith0@aol.com
Regarding types of food it has to be low fat. Lean protein, whole grains, fruits and vegetables and healthy fats from natural sources like avacados and olive oil (but log all your calories on calorie count though or you might actually gain).

Well, It's late here in the UK so I'm about to head off to bed.
Good luck with everything ladies - I'll be back tomorrow!! LOL
If you're keen to join the group I was talking about, you can find out about it by clicking on my username on my post here (e.g. #13 michellesmith0) and I have it listed on my profile.

I've lost about the same amount, 88 lbs. I did it in 12 months,
although only 10 of those actually involved dieting. I'm still
workign on losting 13 to 25 more lbs plus. I'm not sure how far I
plan to take it, but I'm much happier now regardless of where I end up.
Sorry doll, guess i'm skeptical. lol I checked out the BMR thingy & there's no way I can eat that many calories & loose weight.
khudasgal......
What # did you get? did you do it correctly? How much do you eat now? If you are not eating at least 1200 a day, then you are starving your body of what it needs, this weight loss challenge for you will not be easy!

Eating cals as per BMR only works if you are going to be committed to an exercise routine!!
I ate cals per my resting metabolic rate and also burned 500 cals min per day exercising so my metabolism went through the roof.
If you're not exercising, then eating so many cals would be a slow process - you'd still lose but it would be VERY slow.

Exercise would help, but if you move at all and eat only your BMR you
will lose weight, the more you move the more you lose. My BMR is
1700 calorie'ish per day and I eat about that and I'm losing. I
do exercise, but that's beside the point, I also do lots of housework
and chase after my 3 yo. BMR is just the least amount of calories
you would ever burn if you laid around like a slug all day and never
moved, it's what keeps your organs going to keep you alive. Even
eating will use more calories that your BMR!
twindaze...
I am impressed.... you got it!!! I see michelle's point, to where people would be discouraged if it comes off slow... my answer to that... GET MOVING! the more you move, the more you'll lose.... But its tru... your body uses calories your burning even when you eat ( digest food) thats considered fat bruning since you only ate your BMR.... Good Job!
