I lost 107lbs in 7 Months, How I do it!
I figured I would put this into a thread as I have explained this to quite a few people and the typing gets repetative. I will explain my story and how I did it.. this is what is working for me....
Summary: I have lost 107 lbs since Jan 1, 2007
Jan 1, 07 weighed : 363 lbs
July 27 (today) - 256 lbs ( loss of 107 lbs)
And it started like this: I went to the doctor Nov 27, 06 said I weighed 363 lbs.. NO WAY.. NOT ME..........................
I watched a video on New Years eve of my family on Christmas Day. That was not me.... I Truly thought that in my brain.... that was the night my life would change! I decided then... Lets do it. Tomorrow starts a NEW YEAR! and I did.
Ever wonder how many calories you should eat in one day? Look up your BMR (Basal Metobolic Rate) = the # of calories your body burns in a 24 hour period with your body at full rest! . It all depends on your current weight, height & age.
Mine now is about 2000 cal. Thats means my body burns 2000 cal a day even if I NEVER got out of bed.... So.. If I eat only 2000 cal a day.... EVERYTHING I do all I am doing is burning calories! Everything from waking up, to driving, to dressing, to grocery shopping, to working, to chasing kids, to showering.... burning extra fat! Every 3500 calories you burn... you burn a pound of stored fat. So if you eat nothing but your BMR, then of course your burning more calories that you eat, because what you eat, ( your BMR) your body burns NATURALLY to live! If you eat 2000 cal (MINUS) what your body burns automatically (2000) then you have ZERO calories left. Everything you do your burning calories, even digesting food your burning calories.... so of course you will have a Negative Calories Number. This # is called your calorie deficit. I can help you figure out your calorie deficit as well. I know this is long, but I have been helping everyone that emails me, and its easier to refer them to this, and then everyone who wants there own BMR or Calorie Deficit to email me with your #'s and I will respond back . I eat 6-7 times a day...
6:30 - 7:00 AM / 9:30-10:00 / NOON / 2:00- 2:30 / 4:45- 5:00 ( before I leave work - cause by the time I go to the gym, I dontget home till 8 Pm, and I dont want to eat that late) and a snack at 7:30 - 8:00 ....
Snacks never go above 250 calories
Remember this.. If it comes in a box or a bag DON't EAT IT... If God didnt give it to us naturally, then dont eat it. There are slim exceptions mainly being yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, I do eat All Brab / Bran Buds for my fiber..
SHOP THE OUTSIDE PERIMITER OF THE GROCERY STORE. THAT IS THE FRESH / KEEP COLD ISLES.

I read your posts back in the beginning and then lost track of it. It's great to find it again. While so many post they find it hard to eat enough calories, I find it difficult not to go over. This is the first thread I have read where others share the problem I have had. It is refreshing to read that I am not alone. I am emailing you my stats to see if maybe I am not being fair to my body.
Can you tell me what my BMR is?
I'm 5'5" and 149 lbs, 28 years old.

i HAVE BEEN READING ALONG FOR ALMOST A MONTH NOW. I HAVE TAKEN SOME OF YOUR IDEAS, BUT I NEED CLARIFICATION ON BMR. I FOUND A WEBSITE THAT DEMONSTRATED HOW TO CALCULATE BMR AND I THOUGHT I DID IT RIGHT BUT IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT.
I AM 38, 5 ' 5" 244 POUNDS AND FEMALE.
NOT ONLY AM I HAVING TROUBLE CALCULATING BMR BUT UNDERSTANDING THE WHOLE NEGATIVE CALORIE THING AND BMR.
IF ANYONE HAS TIME PLEASE HELP.

This is the # of calories your body REQUIRES to live on.... Eat this # and NO MORE!.... If you exercise that fine.. then your burniong of stored fat.... What would you wantto eat back calories that your burning off? Doesnt that defeat the point? Does that help?
ive been reading along for a while now n am truly inspired by your achievement ... i mean its incredible!! n i really need ur help ...i want to lose like 20lbs by like new yrs n i feel like im losng hope n motivation n thts the one thing i dont want to lose bcuz i kno in the end i will feel like a failure n i will probably undergo depression nthen it jus ends up in a vicious cycle... i hav like skinny frenz n at tyms feel inadequate infront of em !!

syn~~ Thats great.. I didnt lose it that quick though.. Ilost 67 lbs in 99 days and now its coming off more normal!!!! I had ALOT to lose!!!!! and still do!!!
Hey fantastic! I am also one of those who lost 100 in about 6 months but then stopped. I fell under the low calorie wolf in sheep's clothing and dropped to 1200-1400 calorie area. I am currently 255 and thats way low. 3100 is my BMR and I struggle to get in 2000 and have 2500 days now. I made that change last week. My weight stabilized and went back down to where I started and I am down a pant size in a week. CC and a few other places say 2500-3500 so I think I am ok now.
And TONS of fun exercise. I am loving it, loving the way I feel after only 4 weeks back on the gym routine.
HI I am new here and I have quite a bit to loose. What did you do and what kinds of food did you eat. I do want to get down my weight as I am sure you understand it isnt easy. i cant always get out to work out so I do what I can. I appreciate your feedback and any other advice you would like to share.
