Lost and regain?

Quote  |  Reply

Anyone else lose and regain a portion of their weight? I went from 230lbs to 135 and over the last year, went back up to 156  :(   Trying to start over......

It's not starting over, it's starting from a new lower weight.  I've got 10 lbs back over my all time low after the holidays.  I'm going to work on at least 5 of those.

That's a nicer way to look at it Laughing

First, congrats on your success! You are truly stunning and it is obvious that you put a lot of time and effort into your weight loss!

I got down to 192 and then I slowly crept back to around 204. Mind you, I want to be around 150. So, I understand what a pain it is and how you might feel like you are starting over.

But, you can do it! You lost nearly 100lbs, now you need to lose a fraction of that to be where you want....no worries!

Just take it a day at a time, like you did in the beginning!

I'm losing and gaining as well. It gets frustrating but it's all part and parcel of life.

A couple of years ago I went from 190 pounds to 120 pounds and then went back up to over 200 pounds. Both the weight-loss and the weight-gain had been accomplished in an unhealthy manner and it was horrifying for me.

When I found CalorieCount, I steadily lost to the point where I was 140 pounds, but then I hit a plateau that lasted about a year. Finally I was able to get down to the 130s but I keep on losing a gaining between 128 pounds to 136 pounds every couple of weeks and this has lasted for over 6 months. It's insanely frustrating, but I just try to remind myself how far I've come and it makes it easier to deal with.

You can do it!

yup

192.5 to 159 over 7 months then back to 178....just made a recommitment to myself.

It only took two months to put 19 pounds back on...

I relate very well to this conversation. I went from 210 all the way to 165-ish. I felt fantastic and looked better than I had in a long long time. That was a year and a half ago. Now I am back up to 205. The last time around, looking back, I didn't do it correctly. I was only eating 800 calories a day, most days. While I felt "full" it wasn't enough to feasibly continue. Then college auditions came, graduation, and my grandfather went on hospice, and first months of college were a bit of a shock. I gained it all back.

Now I am aiming to improve my life.. not diet or shrink, but improve my life one day at a time. I can do it!!!!

Yup. I went from 160 to 126.

I regained until I was back at 151, and am currently at 148.5. I too went over the top for a while, averaging at 600cals a day. When I started eating normally again, followed by a couple of months of binge eating, I'd gained it all back.

This time I'm not going to live off fruit and oatmeal...

I started again after several months of not tracking and regaining some of the 30 pounds I had lost.  I went from 151 to 121 over 5 months between 9/07 and 2/08.

I decided I was too low and couldn't maintain long term so I started to attempt to come up a little in a healthy way - boy is that hard!!!  As I was trying to figure out maintenance, I went back to work after 8 years at home with my children.  That transitions was difficult because it completely threw my routine/schedule/discipline AND added stress.

I'm back up to 138 and am looking to lose maybe 10-12 of that.  I've learned to be kinder to myself as I've gotten older and, instead of beating myself up for it, I'm trying to focus on being proud of myself for taking control when I did and not getting any worse.

I've had a good week with eating healthy and hitting my goals but I haven't been taking time to exercise so I need to get better at that!

 THank you so much!

2 years ago I was 132 down from 153. Then I quit smoking and later suffered a severe depressive episode. I am now 172 lbs. I am so tired of beating myself up. Actually, the more I beat myself up, the quicker I gain weight. I am back on track now. I have not smoked in a year and a half and through couseling and prayer, my battle with depression is subsiding. Even though I am heavier than I have ever been, I am finally ready to do the work and kick unhealthy eating habits the way I kicked smoking...one craving at a time.

yeah, i went from 168 to 138, then gained some back.  actually got all the way back up to 150, very briefly, at the beginning of september.  yikes!  but i've hovered around 141 - 143 for most of the last year and a half or so.

the thing is to remember what we've learned.  when i was 168, i wasn't sure i knew how to lose weight; now i know i do ;)
