I have lost 30 pounds since starting with Calorie Count on 1/22/09...
....I was never one to count calories, but the scale kept going up over the last year, so I set of goal of staying around 2000 calories per day using Calorie Count. And, if Calorie Count gives a food a grade below a C, I avoid it. I can go over 2000 calories in a day if I get my burn meter up by working out at the club or going for bicycle ride or even mowing the yard or walking the dog, but I am never close to surpassing my burn meter. I work out only two threw times a week, but I do try to go for walk everyday. I use the stairs whenever possible at work to get my burn meter up. Some days I don't track what I eat (just to give myself a break), but I recommend people new to Calorie Count count everyday for the first three months, like I did, until you get a feel for your daily calorie in-take and habits. Count everything you put in your mouth. I was amazed I see how nuts, cheese, peanut butter, etc. took up space within my 2000-calories daily goal, so they had to go. That being said, I don't feel like I'm starving myself. I still go out to eat and I will even have an ice cream cone or a similar treat once in awhile. But even when I do that, I have a general feel where am at (in terms of calorie in-take) on any given day, again thanks to Calorie Count. If you can't get to a computer, just keep a small notebook of what you eat so you can log it later. Also, do a weigh-in every three-four days and log it on Calorie Count. I was amazed how quickly the pounds started to fall off. Each time I hit a weight goal I just re-calibrate a new goal five pounts less than the previous goal. The weight-graph is cool too. Finally, log your activities too and watch your burn meter. I'm sitting here wearing shorts I wore six years ago. I'm glad I didn't get rid of them. But they're a little loose on me too. I my have to take in the waist. Which leads me to the only downside of Calorie Count: The cost to pay a tailor to take in my pants. But it's a cost I am gladly willing to bear. Good luck and remember what you do each day (in terms of eating) from the moment you get up will determine your success. One more thing: I have started each day with a bowl of instant oat meal since 1/22/09. I never ate oal meal before that. Also, Special K bars as a snack (only 90 calories) and a lot of fat-free stuff like fat-free salad dressing. Also, lots of Oscar Mayer Deli fresh turkey and very little red meat, and only lite beer. Again good luck, and my thanks to Calorie Count. It has made a difference in my life.
Congratulations on setting goals for yourself and following up on them, for making changes that you could stick with and for sharing with others that it can be done.
Oh and congratulations on shedding the weight!
We sound very alike! Sometimes it helps to have a place like CC to open your eyes to the evils of tempting foods like nuts, red meat and cheese. CC helped me realize that I only need to eat healthy and practise moderation with 'treats' to be successful. Oh, and exercise, of course, but I don't have to be an elite athlete to lose weight and look good.
I'm 10 months in and 55 pounds lighter because of the information, help and support I found here at CC. Congrats on finding this wonderful new path and on continuing with your journey to a healthy lifestyle. I wish you many more months of success!
Congrads!!!
I do all this-I've been doing 30 mins of cardio, 600 jump ropes and 20 minutes of biking. whenever I feel sluggish I make mini exercises and I try to get up and do things as much as possible even if it's just housework or walking around the house and running up the stairs instead of walking. and I keep from 1400-1600 calories everyday with a burn meter of 2170 so I go voer the 500-calorie deficit. I don't use weights in any of my exercises yet I've gained 1.5 pound and I haven't lost anything! I started in April and lost 14 pounds and then gained 8 back. Now this is the third week I've been dieting and exercising again and I've gained a pound. what do I do?
doublepost sorry :)
Congrats!!! That is amazing. I'm also in the 30 pounds lost club, so welcome and enjoy lol!
