lOTS OF QUESTIONS FROM NEWBIE

Quote  |  Reply

I am fairly new here and i have some questions about my weight and my likely achievements

Ok, im 22 (23 in feb), 5ft 1, 165lbs, size 14(uk). I work two jobs (Mon -  Wed 8.00am - 10pm, Thursday  - friday8am - 5pm, and Saturday/ Sunday 5pm - 10pm)

As you can see my schedule is extremely tight!

I work in an accounts office during the day which is mainly sitting at a desk all day and my other job i work as a store supervisor in a supermaket(filling shelves etc so constantly on feet).

I have completely overhauled my diet, no fizzy juice, crisps, sweets, more fruit, veg, etc (although i do get sugar cravings).

Mon - Friday i get up a 6.30 and do taebo work out dvd (sometimes hip hop abs for a change) for 30 - 45 mins (or near to). Was also thinking about starting to take my dog on a 15 min run after this. would that be too much. He normally just out for toilet as my dad walks him during day.

I have my breakfast normally around 9 - 930 when im at work. I have been having Oat Clusters with Bio Yogurt and dried strawberries. Occassionally i might have Bran Cereal with Semi Milk.

Lunch normally consists of soup (either half can of Heinz or home made) around 1pm

At 3pm i normally have snack. Sometimes Apple, Banana, Rice Cakes or something similar

I go to my other work at 5pm (no time for cooking between jobs) and i get a break at 7.30pm and normally only have toast, or something light.

Can someone help me. Im wondering if i am doing enough to lose weight, eating healthy enough etc. ?Sunday i normally do nothing as i like to have one day i can chill before having to go to work.

My second job is easy, but it does require me to be on feet for at least 3 hours walking back and forth, and sometimes lifting heavy items (i have decided to push myself and give it more of an effort to do things faster meaning i can do more at nights).

I would love to be a size 12 by 19th dec for my xmas parties. Is this achieveable? What would i realistically be looking at in terms of weight loss, dress sizes etc?

Well, you didn't say how many calories per day you are eating. Have you used the site's tools to calculate your calorie needs? Use the activity meter to see how many calories your second job would burn, and examine what you're eating to see how many calories you're taking in.

It looks like you are getting a very small amount of calories, and almost no protein. I would use the tools on this site to determine your caloric needs and go from there.

Hi,

You and I have very similar schedule, and I'm also 5'0" and 172lbs, but I make time for my meals, even if it means eating at my desk. Some employers have a problem with this, but if you can get a good meal around 5pm at your desk while you are finishing up your duties, making sure that your proteins are in, controling your sugars, and sodiums, you should be seeing some changes quickly, because you are working out, and you are motivated. Watch for caffein, and if you feel stressed because of your schedule, this can contribute to your body resisting the weigth loss. I know because I work a full time job Mon-Fri 8-5pm, I am a full time student in college, and have a business of real estate in the weekends. I'm also 48 yrs old, so I understand your situation. Eat more and loose weight.
