Why I LOVE CC...

I am new to this site, (barely started on here Monday 7-30-07), but already I have found and seen so many people who really care for one another despite being strangers. The other thing is that right now as I sit at my desk at work, I know that there are so many other people out there doing millions of different things, in many different states, countries, etc, yet we are all so united, supportive, caring, but mainly struggling with the same thing. Thanks to all of you who are willing to help each other, care for one another, and pour out you fears, frustrations, problems, advice, love, etc to every one including me - I need this place, I'm so thankful I was introduced to it! :)

Yeah, I really feel that one of the things that makes this place so awesome is just how supportive and awesome the people here can be :) I know when I first got here, lots of people helped me figure out the specifics of how to lose weight and really helped me keep motivated. :)

lily42 - I'm not far form Torrance! How long did you live there, why did you leave? :)

i was there for about 2 years.  moved back to ct about a year and a half ago.  the job i was doing out there just wasn't going where i wanted to go and i missed new england and the family, so i came back :-)

i really liked it out there, but 2 years was enough for me.  still got my friends out there that i miss SO much!!  but it's all good.  :-)

and i really miss some of the food and restaurants out there!  maybe it's a good thing i'm not there any more!  lol

Wow that's cool that you got to try other places though! I do love it here, and I always think I could never leave CA but there are so many places I would love to visit. The New England area is totally where I want to go next in the US, but I want to go in fall time, bcuz I've heard it's beautiful there. The problem is the fall never seems to work out for one reason or the other.

Food - I would DEFINITELY miss the food and diversity here. Plus there are always millions of things to do and see here. But the prices and how congested it is here, and the Horrible traffic give me more and more reasons to possibly one day leave!

definately come in the fall!  you have no idea what fall is like out there until you come to new england for it!!  i'm such a new england girl i can't help it.  so cal had it's perks too.  it's nice not having to cancel plans multiple times because of inclemant weather.  but i just had to get back here :-)

food here can be really great too, just not specifically where i am at the moment.  but that's okay, i'll make better and healthier stuff at home!

but every once it a while i miss me some baja fresh or, more specifically, havana mania!!!!  omg!!  that was some good eatin'!

One thing that I really admire about NE is the history, all the palces to see that have been around so long, that CA just doesn't have. But I just know it's beautiful there in fall, my hubby was in Boston a couple years back for work and he loved it there, but we want to see the whole area and do some sailing and sightseeing! If I ever go I'll have to get advice where to go from you!

What kinds of food are out there that isn't here? I hear you guys don't have mexican food, or not authentic anyways! AHH I couldn't go without, I love it! But ur right, we should make heathly stuff at home.

What's Havana Mania?

i went to school in boston, i'd be living there righ tnow if i landed a job in my field up there.  it's an amazing town.  def let me know if you are coming up here and i'll give you some suggestions :-)

so cal totally spoiled me for authentic mexican food, it's just not the same here at all.  HOWEVER i do have great italian food!  specifically in nyc (not technically NE but close enough) and boston's north end.  And bakeries, we know how to do bread out here, again, mostly italian owned but not exclusively.  the seafood is awesome too, all along the coast, stuffed clams, lobsters, scrod, it's all great!  and in the fall you'll have to hit up all the farms and pick your own apples!  have some fresh cider, pies, peanut brittle, maple sugar candies in vermont!  we have some great gems here. :-)

Havana Mania is my weakness!!  it's this really great cuban restaurant in redondo beach on inglewood ave.  the owner is actually the son of the owner of versaille, LA's more famous cuban restaurant.  personally i love havana mania better and it was so close to my apartment, i passed by it everyday on the way to and from work!  so bad!  :-)

What field of work are you in?

MMMM, bread and pastries, I'm hungry, (I think I'll heat up lunch)! Oh I loved NYC, I haven't been there in a few years now, but I'm dying to go back! I've been to Summit, NJ, and that is a beautiful area. But yes, yes, the food in NYC was de-lish! I'm not into seafood, but my husband is for sure, and he is looking foward to all of that the most probably! It sounds like you have amazing places, I'm getting excited at going there one day!

Redondo is kinda far from me, but man, I think I'll have to try it sometime! I've only  had Cuban a few times, but I loved all different ethnic foods, so I will try it one day! :) What do you like there?
