I love cheese, how can i not eat it?
I LOVE cheese. I love pizza, I love tuna melts, I love grilled cheese and cheese in my salads. I'm good at eating salads. I stay away from too many carbs and empty calories. But, its really hard for me to stay away from cheese. Are there any delicious substitutes? Or are there any lower calorie cheeses out there that don't taste like crap? I'm a huge fan of goat cheese, american cheese, mozarella, parmesean, havarti and cheddar....yum.
Help!
I am surpirsed American cheese made it on that list. It's not even cheese it's a cheese product. :)
Anyway I enjoy cheese also. I just have it in moderation. Cheese is flavoring not food.

Be glad: the cheeses you listed are all strong flavours or varieties that are often light enough they carry well at half-fat as much as they do whole. Half fat mozzarella and goat's cheese are both palatable, as far as I've tried them, and cheddar, havarti and parmesan are strong or sharp enough you don't NEED to use a lot of them. As Umney says - moderate it. Flavouring, not food.
Part skim mozzarella is quite good.
Cheese addict here as well! Cream cheese, mozzarella sticks, cheddar, cheesy sauces, etc.. I buy fat free slices and that'll take care of my needs for things like a grilled cheese sandwich or regular cold sandwiches. For salads I use fat free shredded cheddar, but if I'm making a pizza or anything else where shredded cheese needs to melt, I use 1/2 fat free and 1/2 regular. It has to get gooey!
Lifetime makes awesome fat free cheeses - including pepperjack, a mild mexican, monterary, mozzarella, cheddar, etc.. even a garden vegetable. I think they are less processed than others like store brands and Kraft. They carry them at Whole Foods, so they must be decent! ![]()
I too thought, what will I do now?!? I haven't been making my normal dishes, I have been searching out and trying new things... a lot of which don't require cheese. I used to put it on everything, yes, everything. When I do have a cheese craving which I fill with fat free or low fat cheese (Kraft is all I can find here) ... usually a little pinch on a sandwich or in an omelet. When you start reducing your cheese intake ...(man that sounds cheesy, HAHA, wow okay) I think our taste buds need a lot less than we originally thought! =o) Low fat moz. is my salad pal, but i use very little, and it works great for me. Less can be more once you get used to the change! Good luck with your cheese addiction!

I love cheese too...and I found you can find fat free or even 2% cheese all over so dont give up.
How about setting yourself a challenge of a cheese-free week? Sounds like adding cheese to everything is just a lazy habit you've got into. If you consciously had a week of trying new cheese-free recipes, different ways to flavour food and/or different foods all together you might find that, afterwards, you could reduce your cheese consumption because you'd found other, equally tasty things to eat.
Find a happy balance.
I think if you just limit it to 3 normal-sized servings a day, then you're good.
It's not quite the same as cheese, but extra light phillidelphia on toast is really good :D

The usual recommendation is one serving per day with '1oz' (a piece about the size of a matchbox) being the serving size..... Cheese is lovely but there are lots of other things to eat out there. Variety - spice- life, etc.
One word Quark.
There is soooo much you could do with it!
Cheese cake
In you mash instead of butter
dips
The best part is 0% fat!!
I love it!
I LOVED cheese, too. When I was a vegetarian it was what I added to everything to give it SOMETHING. I loved every type of cheese. Fried cheese is the best! Mmmmm....and pizza! Fresh cheese pizza. Oooh! And homemade mac n' cheese!!!
I am a vegan now and sadly had to give up my cheese. It has been three weeks and although I miss my fried cheese, I feel much better for not having it. It makes my mouth water thinking about it!!!!! lol.
I understand. Try lower fat cheese and on your pizza ask for "easy on the cheese" so they don't go nuts. The cheese free week was a good idea. Or how about limiting the cheese to once or twice a week? It gets easier and easier as the weeks pass. You discover other flavors to replace it with.
hi. my name is lollergirl. i'm a cheese addict.
i take it one day at a time by only allowing myself 1 oz per day. it could be low fat swiss on a turkey sandwich. or cubes of cheddar in my salad. or maybe some shredder colby jack in an omelet.
i simply portion out my allotment and immediately put the rest back in the fridge. can't eat it if it's not there, right?
I LOVE cheese too!
i buy:
kraft Free Cheddar: singles (i think 30 cal / slice) and shredded (45 cal/oz)
also: Sargento string cheese light (50 cal/stick)
Laughing cow cheese swiss light, onion light, garlic and herb light..... a wedge for 35 calories. It's spreadable. It taste really good.
The other thing I discovered is a pepper jack cheese stick only 80 calories. It looks like a string cheese stick but tastes soooooooooooo much better.
try ALMOND CHEESE
think of it as the same concept as almond breeze milk but cheese
it is soo good, it tastes better than cheese to me
for 1oz its 50 calories and a gram of fat
and it comes in all different types of flavors :)
Almond cheese? I love Almond Breeze............where can I get it?
i eat cheese every day, and i've lost almost 30 pounds. none of tha low-fat or fat-free crap, either. i eat the real thing. i just don't eat pounds of it.

well i am not sure if it is the same brand as almond breeze, but it is a type of almond cheese and it's so good.
i found it at Jimbos (US) but i am sure that they have it at various whole food markets or health food stores if you ask :)
Thanks I will look for it at those stores. I found a recipe on how to make it. Sounds like a lot of work though.
