Hate the calories of coca cola but I can not stand diet colas,

OKAY all I have tried is diet coca cola, diet pepsi, diet coca cola w/ lime, and diet rite cola,,,,,,,,I dont drink coca cola every day, so I have made the decision to drink coke less times a week and just allow them in my calorie count on the days I drink coke,,,,,, the bad thing is coke goes great with pizza...and in a movie with buttered popcorn

mmmmmm

I didn't like diet cola either when I first switched over, but you get used to the taste.  Now I can't drink regular soda, because it tastes too sweet to me.  After drinking diet for a while, I transitioned to water, which took me a while--now I prefer water over anything else.  I think anything new takes some time to get used to.  Funny, the rare occasion I drink a soda now are with just what you mention--pizza and popcorn.  I'm not eating pizza these days, but do have one of those Smart Popcorn 100 calorie as a snack at least once a week.  I don't keep soda in the house, but I always wish I had one!

I drink water every day, and of course coffee every morning, but diet soda is not for me,, i'll just do one coke every 2 weeks.    and eventually maybe cut out the coke--we'll see.

Tried coke zero? I cannot hack diet cola either, but I can do a coke zero, and the diet coke plus(with vitamins) taste like the real thing too.
in the end, i would bet that one coke every two weeks is a lot healthier for you than one diet coke every day.  all that said, cutting out coke eventually would definitely be a good thing...and not just because of the calorie count.

Coke zero was a great change over for me.  I went from all Coke's to some Coke Zero's.  Now I only drink real coke with the fun things when I am being bad and like that real sweet taste.  As everyone mentioned the more water I drink the more I like it .. kinda weird :S

I can totally relate--I always hated diet coke of any kind and have drunk "the real thing" literally since I was in diapers.  When I first decided to cut back on cokes, I limited myself to one coke (with a candy bar chaser) every Saturday.  I didn't have any other sweets all week.  It really did the trick.  Whenever I thought about breaking down, I would just think--it's only x number of days, I can make.

Another strategy (the Saturday one worked about 2 years before I fell off the wagon) was to just quit all sodas.  That worked for 3 years (go me!)

After falling off the wagon, I experimented with Coke Zero and it's much more tolerable than Diet Coke.  It's not the real thing but it's ok.

Currently, I'm back to just limiting cokes.  They are my one real vice and it's hard to give them up Wink

I agree with the coke zero. I hated diet coke. Coke Zero and diet Dr. Pepper are the only diet sodas I like...but now I am getting to point that I drink diet coke when I go out to eat and sometimes I ask my husband "did you get me regular coke?" although he never does. It just doesn't taste as bad anymore.

I will give coke zero a chance, and am still eventually going to cut them out totally

(or not) we'll see. For sure will limit them. they actually taste better when they are a treat---special occasions.
