I love huge portions

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, I am probably gonna get burned for this, but I love it when places give you large portions of food, or when it is ridiculously cheap to upsize. You get so much more bang for your buck, which really helps now with the economy the way it is when you do get a chance to eat out.

Not for everyone thats for sure, but for people who are able to share or have more will power to bag some home, it's such a good deal!

Anyways :) I just felt like saying this because many people seem to hate on large portions of food.

I know of all the reasons why we hate huge portions. I know of all the reasons why I shouldn't eat huge portions. Yet, when I'm at Chili's and I get that monstrous mud volcano dessert (or something) I thank whatever gods there are that I get to stuff my face with it.

And it is so good.

I can imagine you'll get swarms of people telling you larger portions are the result of a capitalist war to win over gluttonous consumers, and that when you're served more than one serving of food, you should take the rest home or something.

But I just want to jump in before all that backlash to say:

I love huge portions!!!! :D

The more food they give me, the happier I am. That happiness may wear off the next morning when I step on the scale, but if you're not watching your weight, then a plate of food bigger than your entire torso is just about the most exciting surprise I can imagine.

forget that...huge portions ROCK!!!!!!!  death to anyone who hates on huge portions....ok a bit extreme, but you got admit, they are AWESOME!!! heh heh heh

i totally agree! if i'm paying a lot for a meal out (especially in the current economy), i want a big portion! even better if i don't finish it & have enough to take home so i can make two meals out of it. if you have the willpower to ask them to bag half before they even bring it to the table, then that's even better.

if there's stuff left on the plate, you bet i'm bringing it home (even if the main dish is gone and it's just the fries left). sure it's not so healthy to eat the whole thing, but i constantly find myself getting stuffed halfway through anyway, so i'm pretty much forced to bag the rest.

now, if the food is bad, then having a large portion of it sucks. but my dad will basically eat anything so it takes care of that.

People who actually like eating love huge portions. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar, IMO! Of course eating it all isn't wise but if we could eat it all and not get all those calories... heaven. =]

I have no willpower whatsoever when it comes to restaurant food. Just keep it away from me or it's going in mah belleh!

I'm a huge portion lover too!

Whenever I'm dining out, the first thing I hope for is a decent amount of food. there's nothing worse than a measley, pathetic small portion being set down in front of you..oh the disappointment, my heart just sinks. Sometimes I look around at others dining to see what the general size of the restaurant meals are.

And the sight of a big buffet is also exciting (and calorie intimidating I guess).

But when being more gastro conscious, if you use small plates at home for your meals, it can kind of trick you into thinking you're having more.. otherwise I just pile on a salad or veggies to bulk up the look of a meal.

i have no problem with huge portions at a casual place like a pub or chain restaurant. i know i'm not going to eat nearly all of it just because it's there, and i like being able to make two or even three meals out of one. sometimes i feel bad though, like when i get a sandwich or burger at a pub and it comes with a mountain of fries. i usually eat about a 1/3 of them, and don't usually take them home or want to carry them around all night. i always feel so guilty wasting food!

if i'm going somewhere upscale though, i am perfectly fine with small portions. i'd be turned off by a fine dining restaurant if they served me a mountain of food. i'd rather have several small courses of really good quality food. i find that at places with a few small courses that you enjoy slowly, you end up feeling just as satisfied at the end and you are paying for the quality, flavors and presentation, not the quantity. but a place like chilis or something? pile it on haha.
