if i have a jar of it in my house, it's gone in 2 days and i'm 3 lbs heavier. i can NOT be around peanutbutter for the life of me, but i crave it daily.

does anyone know a low-cal way i could get my peanutbutter fix without actually having to buy peanut butter?

WHY must peanutbutter be so high-cal.

I have a love hate relationship with peanut butter.  Its really easy to binge on, but so good!  I really have no advice except don't buy it if you know you don't have the will power keep from bingeing on it.

you could buy peanut butter flavored protien bars and get your fix that way....

i totally know what you mean!

have you tried getting the jiff to go cups?

theyre little peanut butter cups with 2 servings in themm.. they come in packs of 6. i find that theyre really helpful with portion control- even if i eat an entire cup which is a LOT its 390 calories.. i prob would have binged on more than that if i ate straight from teh jar. theyre also good to carry around in my bag with some fruit or crackers or pretzels as a snack. :)

There are actually healthier options: You can buy a product called PB2 off of the internet (www.bellplantation.com). It's in a powdered form so you just mix it with water to create the consistency of regular peanut butter. You can also add it (without the additional water) to oatmeal, etc. I believe it's only 53 calories per 2 tbsp serving, but I'm not sure if that's before or after the water is added. I've never tried this product, but I've heard rave reviews from other members of CC. The other open that I know if is called Better'n Peanut Butter. Two tbsps is 100 calories, 2.5 g of fat, 2 g of sugar, 4 g of protein. It tastes a little sweeter than traditional peanut butter, but it's made from defatted peanuts so the taste isn't too far off. I found this in the organic section of Giant grocery store. If you can't bear either of the substitutes, just make sure that you are buying all natural peanut butter with no added salts, sugars, etc. All of the oils settle on the top when you first open the jar, so I ALWAYS dump it right down the drain. The peanut butter is more difficult to spread then, but for all the taste and a bit fewer calories, it's worth it! Good luck!
Have you tried peanut butter flavoured cereal? I know someone here mentioned that Puffins are pretty good, and there is also this stuff called "Panda Puffs" by Nature's Path.  Panda puffs only have 6g 7g sugar per 3/4 cup serving, if you care about that, and 130 calories.
I also have the same phenomenon around peanut butter!  I actually find hummus (which is made with a sesame seed paste) provides a nutty fix without being quite so fattening.   A tablespoon of hummus with some vegetable sticks isn't a bad low-cal, high-protein snack.

ive heard of people mixing peanut butter with canned pumpkin to make it go farther... not sure may be worth a try!

Haha PB is my Achilles heel ... it just tastes so damn good. I can't keep it in the flat any more. Try Tracker bars, I think they're 124 cals and you can get ones that have chocolate chips in them as well and kick PB, sugar and chocolate cravings all in one bar.

I only eat peanut butter a) when I'm in school and can't eat any more than I have smeared on, or b) as a pre-workout snack after something filling like a bean salad or soup. Peanut butter is like my only source of fat, so I can't not have it.

When you eat it, measure out the amount you have and then put the jar away. Have plenty of things to eat with it, like a plate of veggies or fruits. Also have a bottle of water - I think the thick consistency makes you thirsty, but our brilliant bodies confuse that with hunger. That, and you may not be getting enough fat in your diet.
Only buy it once a month!  ;-)

i'm in canada, so we don't have puffins or jiff to go. :| LAME.

i'm SO bad with portion control and peanut butter that i'll actually go ALL THE WAY into the basement and get the jar of peanutbutter my mom has packed away for the cottage and eat it in like 2 days. i'll take 2 tbsp and put it back down in the basement, and keep doing it until the jar's empty UGH!

and my mom isn't really "supportive" in my attempt to eat healthy so she won't buy me any online products. i've been bugging her about pb2 and fiber gourmet pasta for AGES; but no such luck.

My cafeteria has a basket full of regular peanut butter, but in tiny indivdual packets (1 tbsp.) so portion control is a breeze that way. I have no clue how you can get ahold of something like that though.

ALSO, luna nutz over chocolate protein bars are a great way to get a pb fix.

How about meeting your peanut butter craving with peanuts in the shell instead of with peanut butter? I find when I have to de-shell my peanuts or nuts, I eat a lot less of them.

Justins Nut Butter makes single serve (2 tbsp, 190 calorie) packs of peanut butter. They also make almond butter and flavored peanut butters. If you google it you will find their website and you can order online & have it delivered. I know they also sell them @whole foods..

PB2 Rules!. Mix with cool whip and it is like PB Pie filling.  Mix with cream cheese and its great on bagels.  Mix with syrup and it is great for pancakes. Mix with jam/jelly and you have a sandwich.  Drop it in your cookie recipe or brownie recipe. Mix it in your rice krispie treat when you drop cereal in.  Oh the wonders of PB2.

Walden Farms also makes a peanut butter substitute my wife likes but I do not.  It is more like spackle for my tastes.

One thing: either switch to almond butter, which is actually a lot healthier or reward yourself once a week with a few packs of the cafeteria-size peanut butter (so you can't go over!)

Hope this helps!!!

i saw that panda puffs cereal yesterday, but just imagined myself eating the whole box at once.. so i skipped it.
