Why you love running
Why do you love running?
Meet some great lifelong frinds
Race comradarie
You see nature at its best
You go out thinking you only have 3 miles in you and end up doing 7 before you no it
Runners high-nothinh like it
Feeling when you out-run others--that competitive feeling inside-you know it right?
You can do it anytime, anywhere
You can never be to fit for running-there are always bigger challenges ahead to accomplish 10k-half-marathon-ultra
when I run everything else slips away
exploring new areas
it challenges your mind and body
Because the dog behaves better when he's tired.
nothing like cruching on a hard pavement for an hour to let slip all your irritating thoughts!
most of the above (i run alone, so the comaraderie and friendship part doesn't fit. in the past when i've had a running partner, i've found myself yearning for those days when she was out of town, just for a change).
i love that i'm starting to feel like a runner. yesterday i had a fairly tight (for me) schedule, and it was going to be a challenge to squeeze in a run. i got this sense of urgency, like - i have to go. i have to go now. that was a first.
i love that i'm built for it. even when it's hard, nothing hurts.
i love that when the trails are muddy, and i'm muddy, i don't care.
i love that when i think about stopping, i go faster instead.
and i love the gear. the gear makes me look like a runner, and that makes me want to run.
I love running because its just me and my ipod and it's like therapy because it helps me de-stress

ok, so i have to get back into it. but definately therapy. my legs pounding in sync with the beat when im listening to music. also that feeling like i could go on forever. and i love the feeling of strength in my legs when im sprinting real hard, just before i collapse.
Because I can say I run miles everyday.. people get jealous!

I absolutely 2nd pgeorgian's comments.
We are now completely muddy here in the NW - Oregon and while it slows you down it absolutely makes you stronger.
I run with my husband - it has made us a stronger team. We run long runs (20 miles) together and there are times when it is difficult and we definitely encourage each other.
I love stopping the forest, turning off my ipod, and looking around and being completely alone! I could not have gotten there unless I was able to run into the forest 5 miles.
I love running because I have seen my resting heart rate go from about 70 to 52. My training heart rate used to be 142 and now I get the same workout at 134. Running gave me this.
Happy running...
When I finish, I know I did something good for me and my time was not wasted.
The endorphins that get released! I think of my workouts like my medication. I need them to be in optimal mental healthy as well as physical.
Telling people I "went for a run." Just makes me sound so in shape!

ooh - i love this, too ;)
I love the hour or so afterwards - I have a good meal and can sort of 'feel' my stomach working on it and re-nourishing your body after all the energy is spent. It's hard to describe, I think my digestion is much better after a run.
Then I go for a nice bath, put on cosy clothes and feel abit smug and happy that I can relax and laze around for the rest of the evening in a warm house, knowing that I have done my body good.
That moment when someone sees me in shorts or a skirt and says "OMG how did you get such muscular legs?!" and I casually say "I kinda run a little bit" LOVE THAT!!!!!
when I've had a really crappy day, go for a run and realize I'm smiling.
It's my ME time - no toddler, no crying baby, no husband - just me and my thoughts. It's the ONLY time I get to myself - and I feel so great during and afterwards. I fell into the trap long ago of working so hard taking care of others that I neglected to take care of myself and running makes me feel like I am really doing something good for myself.
I love the sense of accomplishment I get after I run--it could be 8 in the morning, but if I've just finished a 5 mile run, I'm already having a productive day.
I love that running makes use of the fact that I have long legs and no torso.
And I second what you said--you're never too fit for running, and there are always greater goals. Every run is an accomplishment in itself, but it's a greater accomplishment when you keep running consistently :)
I love running away from home and back to it. I only wish it gets a little bit warmer so my running would be more enjoyable ^_^
OH and another one - I want to be the one they say "Yeah she used to be pretty overweight but then one day she started running and lifting weights and she just never stopped..." :)
That feeling you get after a particularly long run when you think to yourself, "Wow. I just ran ___ miles, and I feel great!"
When you don't run, you feel awful.
Great way to stay in shape
Cross country teams (and running clubs) bond immensely. Who else would be crazy enough to run miles on their own? : P
telling people that i have to wake up early to do a 20 mile run.
the look on people's faces when i tell them i just finished a 20 mile run.
i can say i don't like running, i love the feeling of finishing....the ultimate feeling of accomplishment....
having "lucky feet" that don't get blisters.
Because it makes my legs look sexy, and gives me an excuse to wear split shorts and running tights in public.
Really though, it's hard to say why I love running. It means so much to me that I just can't put that feeling into words. All my life prior to running I was a couch potato, soft and lumpy and awful at every sport. When I got home after school, I would just sit around doing nothing. Running gave me purpose, motivation, and friends that I now consider my second family. I've finally found something I'm passionate about and relatively good at, and as cheesy as this sounds I feel like it was a rebirth of sorts for me. With no game strategies or time-outs, running forces you to look within yourself for inspiration to push harder than you think you can, and it makes you so much stronger.
And of course, nothing beats the feeling of a solitary trail run with mud squishing under your shoes and the occasional sight of deer darting away through the trees. I love it and I just can't get enough! :)
Running has changed how I think about myself. 2.5 years ago I was a couch potato, totally unfit and overweight. I started changing that and I had been working out and eating mostly "right" for about a year and a half before I started running. So I was already on the right path, but running was a revelation. I'm still horribly slow (run forever rate is about 14+ minute mile and my 5K was 39:31) but I love the feeling. I love running outdoors in my nearest forest preserve: love watching nature, feeling the breeze, challenging myself. I love how good it is for my body and how GREAT I feel afterwards. I adore running early on Sat morning, and to my surprise, I actually enjoy it most in the cold! I feel so alive, strong, and at ease, all at the same time.
