Low-cal chocolate fixes?

Quote  |  Reply

So I've been having major chocolate cravings lately...you ladies can probably guess why!  Anyone have any low cal alternatives for me, before I go buy up the whole chocolate aisle at the local grocery store? :)

Chocolate Raspberry and Caramel Nut Brownie Luna bars taste like candy to me. They run about 190 cals, but you get some protein & fiber in that little package and it's more filling and has less sugar than a candy bar.

Or, if you must have it, try buying a 1 oz piece of really good dark chocolate. You can nibble on it and savor it, get your fix and move on.

I swear by chocolate teddy grahams and fudgsicles.   One serving of teddy grahams has 130 calories (but also 2g of fiber and 2 g of protein).  One fudgsicle pop has only 59 calories and is an especially great summertime treat.  Hope this helps!! :)

do you like dark chocolate? if you don't and find it too strong, buy a bar. i know this sounds weird; but hear me out. i find dark chocolate SO strong and when i eat 1 square, i feel as if i've eaten a whole bar of milk chocolate. it totally kills my cravings and that's a hard thing to do for me.

what about hot chocolate? i've seen it range from 25-60 calories per serving, depending on the brand.

and also, dairy queen sells a sugar-free fudge bar that's only 45 calories, and it's a HUGE bar too.

Hungry Girl has some GREAT recs:

Also, just search the word chocolate on her site, and you'll find a ton of great ideas. :)

Get some fat free chocolate pudding cups and freeze them.. OMG they are soo good.. I had one last night.. +-

I buy the SF FF chocolate pudding from Kraft and make it with 8th Continent Light Soy.

Really creamy and chocolaty!

Also Turkey Hill No Sugar Added chocolate ice cream in a cone really hits the spot!

get the darkest chocolate you can find, especially if you can get the european ones cut into tiny squares.  put it in the freezer and then you will be able to break off god-almighty theobromine bits, i mean chocolate squares, according to your desire.  savor for at least a couple hours, and repeat as necessary.

1.5 tsps of mini M&Ms are just 20 calories.

If you eat them one at a time, its quite a bit.

The Hershey's 60 cal sticks, especially the ones with caramel in the middle and the extra dark chocolate 60% cacao (not the special dark one).  Yummy and really satisfying.

or you can count out chocolate chips and put them in your oatmeal. then it feels like you're eating a lot-- tastes great too, tastes like dessert! i find it hard to eat just a little chocolate. it's impossible. but if i count out 40 chocolate chips (100 calories since each is 2.5 calories), then i can have a filling chocolate fix for about 200 to 250 calories. i don't eat it as a snack though. that's basically my breakfast right there.

i eat whatever chocolate i like -dark chocolate, that is... milk chocolate is just gross to me.- whether it be the beloved godiva, those new starbucks espresso bean truffles, lindt chocolates, dove, etc... i just make sure i only have one square or piece. u can still have the chocolates and anything u love... in moderation.

: )

purchase some hershey's special dark cocoa powder, and mix it with one packet of splenda. add to milk, cottage cheese, or yogurt! the mixture itself is only 5 calories per tablespoon, and has 1 gram of fiber, along with 10% your daily iron needs. you could even sprinkle it atop a mashed bannana, it's yummy in oatmeal too :)

Some of my favs are swiss miss diet hot cocoa (25 calories) and skinny cow/slim a bear ice cream (yum!!), chocolate rice cakes, also sugar free chocolate pudding is good too!

Fast and great cupcakes.  ONLY two ingredients.  Can of pumpkin (good for ya) and a box of dark chocolate cake mix.  Mix. Will be very thick since no water, oil or egg is added.  Put in Pam coated cupcake pans (I use silicon ones). Bake at 350 until done. Each cupcake has 100 calories. VERY moist.  Wrap individually and freeze if you want. SO good.

vitamuffin deep chocolate muffin tops or vitabrownies are HEAVEN! 100 cals each, with fiber & protein. very yummy.

I agree with the dark chocolate bar - it's a lot easier to eat a smaller amount. Also, I found Nonni's Decadance Biscotti - they are chocolate, dipped in chocolate, with almond, and are 100 calories each!!! They come in individual little plastic bags, too. This is a recent discovery so I'm still pretty excited about it. If you like coffee, it's even better to eat it with that.

Have you seen the cocao roast almonds in the nut aisle? Those are soo good and contain basically cocao and almonds, barely any sugar or salt. They taste very chocalaty too.
