Low Cal frozen treats
Anybody have some good recipes/ideas for some tasty but low calorie frozen treats? Anything that is pretty easy, like mix and freeze is great but I also have a '70s style ice cream maker that works pretty well too (I've been making banana ice in it lately). I just find with the hot weather I want cold snacks.
Frozen grapes. yummm.
Fudgesicles: 40 to 60 calories each depending if you want regular, low fat, or low sugar : )
I also buy the cups of ice cream (like the ones that used to be served in the school cafeteria), which are 90 calories each (And I love fudge swirl).
I would recommend the Healthy Choice Fudge bars (80 cal) and save yourself some work! The also have sorbet bars if fruit is your thing. ![]()
Frozen blueberries! Spread them out on waxed paper in a single layer and freeze solid, then put them into plastic bags so you can pour out what you want.
Put the frozen solid blueberries in a bowl and immediately pour cold milk over them and stir gently. Sweeten the milk first if you want. The milk freezes into a coating on each berry - yum.
I like to make fruit smoothies in my blender. I use frozen fruit, plain non-fat yogurt, some sweetener, and a bit of milk. After we enjoy them, then I make popsicles from the left overs. Of course, the frozen fruit is good by itself...
I also like the skinny cow ice cream sandwiches - 140 calories, but completely satisfying, and it has pretty good nutrient value too.

Less than 50 calories per serving and incredibly yummy. You can make it even simpler by using 2 cups premade lemonade (just use about 1/4 c with the mint in the blender and then strain into the remaining lemonade).
I suppose you could also make it with an artificial sweetner, but why?
The only thing that I eat is sugarless popsicles. They're 15 calories each and they taste awesome (I can't tell the difference between them and reg. pops).
Strawberrys are also great, especially with some whipped cream.
There's recipes online for chocolate chip cookies that use oatmeal instead of flour (or more oatmeal than flour). It's low calorie, you can't really notice the oatmeal.
But if I'm feeling in a really cake-ey mood and I just want to pig out I make Russian tea cookie dough only with much more sugar in them (like 2 cups more--opps!). Because I don't bake it. I eat some of it and then store it in the freezer for those days. Haha
If you don't want to have to make anything yourself - I LOVE the Giant Ice Cream Sandwich bars from Weight Watchers. (The Cookies & Cream is my favorite.) They're 140 calories and very satisfying for calming a sweet tooth. :-) At home - you might try making up a batch of Fat Free/Sugar Free Hot Cocoa and then pour it into an ice cube tray & freeze it. You'd have little chocolately cubes from that.
Del Monte has frozen fruit sorbet tubes (kind of like icy freeze pops) in strawberry and grape. They are delicious. You could probably make something like them yourself, but I found them really cheap at Target. I am certain they will help me avoid ice cream and 10 extra lbs this summer.
