Does a low cal granola exist?

Quote  |  Reply
My body has been craving granola lately for some reason but I can't seem to find any granola cereals that allow you to eat enough to be satisfied for a low amount of calories. I prefer the ones with the raisons in them too---so yummy! Anyone have any ideas? I want to be able to eat granola dammit! lol. Yet all of the cereals seem to say something like 220 calories for 2/3 of a cup which is insane!

Before I get upset, how many calories are you trying to eat a day?  Because If you eat that serving of granola cereal, a half cup of milk 2% or lower which at 2percent is about 65 calories and an apple you only have 335 calories!!!  Pretty good start for the day dont you think?  Especially if you want to get your metabolism going.

lol i weigh 90 pounds and 2/3 of a cup of granola would not make me feel satasfied and full
I'm not a teenager trying to lose weight so I'm not being unrealistic or anything, I'm just trying to find a lower calorie granola. I'm eating about 1500 calories a day and I have long days so I just don't want to use 335 calories in the morning if I can help it. I usually eat something like cornflakes and milk which is only around 160 calories.
Actually there's one at Trader Joe's and 200 calories for 3/4 of a cup with Raisins.
A type of "granola" that I love is Kashi GoLean 7-grain crunchy cereal stuff. It's just like granola, only made without a lot of oil and sugar. it's very crunchy and filling, as lightly sweetened.

There's only 190 cals in one whole cup, which is a lot, and something like 10 grams protein.

Heartland makes a low fat granola. I am not sure of the calorie count, but I do know it is only 2 grams of fat:-)
I just poured some apple juice over raw oats and threw in a handful of cinnimon and baked it like granola. Came out and tasted like apple pie.

Next batch I through in some chopped almonds. I suppose you could through raisens or something like that in their too, but personally, I hate dried fruit.

I dont know what the cals or anything is, but considering the ingredients are oats and apple juice, it can't be too bad.

It's not technically granola, but I use Kashi Golean crunch in my yogurt and it's sort of the same idea.  It's 190 calories for a cup, but I only use half so 95 calories isn't too bad.  Half a cup is a good amount in my opinion.

Make your own!

1 cup oatmeal
1 egg white
1 teaspoon oil
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix it up and spread on a cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes at 300 degrees. Stir it up again and bake it for another 8 minutes or until it lightly browned and crunchy.

It makes alot, and tastes great in vanilla yogourt!

Bear Naked makes a 'Fit' granola that's only 120 calories. It's not a huge portion, but a little granola goes a long way - especially if you add it in to things like oatmeal or soy yogurt.

I've tried the Bear Naked Fit granola and it tastes really good - don't know if you could make a meal out of it - only 1/4 cup per serving.  I have a hard time finding it.  Target carries it but they're always out of stock...  Good luck!

Nature's Path granolas mostly run 140-150 cals a serving. They're very good.

i second nature's path - the hemp granola is so delicious, and it has flax seed added in. they also make a great pumpkin variety.

Maybe just take a crunchy granola bar and smash it up a bit?

Thats what I do with a lot of Kashii TLC bars, and that way you also have many flavors to choose from and already portion controlled aka no measuring~ (I pair one with a market pantry yogurt yummm!)
