Low Cal Salad Dressing

Quote  |  Reply

I love regular salad dressing -- ranch, honey-mustard, etc.  Any suggestions for a low cal brand that tastes good?

I wish I would like to know to lol

Kraft calorie wise ranch is really good, only 25 cals per tbsp.

I just go for Balsamic vinegar; I like the sharpness of it, I could drink entire bottles of the stuff!

As for dressings, maybe you should get a basic recipe for one and make your own low cal version?

I don't eat any of the regular salad dressings. But my new fave...and really the only one I eat now is the Low Fat or Fat Free Honey Mustard Dressing. Which has 80 cals for two table spoons. And it's not like the ranch where you can really tell that its fat free, and doesn't taste as good. This Honey mustard is really really good...I can't tell a difference between it and the full fat. You may want to try that out!

"Olde Cape Cod" is a really good brand that makes fat free Honey Mustard and fat free Balsamic Vin. Both are only 25 cals per tablespoon and very good.

Walden Farms has a whole line of dressings and desert toppings that contain 0 fat, 0 calories, 0 carbs.  I like all the dressings except Ranch...I'm just too use to Kraft ranch....I use the chocolate syrup on low carb deserts and puddings..yum yum..they also make a marshmallow topping..yum yum...I'm on a low carb diet..the only way I can lose weight and keep it off.  I find it in my Shoprite Supermarket....you can order on line at Waldenfarms.com.... can't ask for more than 0....good luck

i absolutely adore Ken's steakhouse light dressings. i just tried this asian one they have, 70 cals for 2 tbsp. and it is AWESOME. it reminds me of the dressing they use at sushi restaurants.
I love the salad spritzers..i have only tried the balsamic and italian and they are awesome. i will be trying to honey mustard fairly soon. anyways, it is so easy to control the portions. I normally just spritz on 25 sprays which is enough to proportion out evenly on a pretty big salad ( i eat a lot of salads as my dinner).

You could always eat salad without dressing.  Believe it or not, lettuce tastes just fine on it's own.

One of my favorites is Litehouse pomegranate blueberry vinagarette.

It's only 20 cal per 2 T.   fat 0grams.

OK, it's not the lightest but it has a huge amount of flavor so you don't need that much.

Light Champagne from Girard's - I think it is like 60cal but I only 1T for a 2-3c salad and it's more than enough.

I love honey mustard dressing too and it's the hardest to find that is "lite". But the ones I've found are:

Ken's Steakhouse Lite Honey mustard (It tastes JUST like regular yellow honey mustard)

And

Newman's Own Lite Honey Mustard ( It's a honey mustard dressing and it's yummy but it's not like yellow or like the traditional honey mustard).

vmcbutterfly, I agree! the spritzers come in a bunch of flavors now (different brands too) and they dress a salad instead of drowning it.

best ranch ever= trader joe's lowfat parmesan ranch. 35 cals for 2 tbsp.

best caesar ever= trader joe's. 50 cals for 2 tbsp.

Today I just tried the Wishbone Salad Spritzers - Ranch! - yeah! and it was 10 sprays for 15 calories.  I had a big bowl of salad so ended up spraying it around 20 times but it was MUCH better than having to tolerate Fat Free Italian every day.....  Tomorrow I'm trying the Caesar - I can't believe the varieties they have now.

I love the ranch Wishbone Salad Spritzers, and I only do 5 spritzers as I toss it. I put the spritzer away before I go crazy trying to give every bite a little more taste, and I eat it all.. Just like that.. I love the stuff. I also like Low Fat Hidden Valley Ranch, but there are too many cals in that stuff.. But I still love it.. When I do eat a small baked potato.. I always add one table spoon. 40 cals, and 3.5g of fat.. I try to cut down on a lot of these things, because to me.. They are mindless calories.. I call them the make it taste good calories.. I can eat salad without dressing from time to time.. That's what I do when me and my kids watch a movie... I make a fat free snack and eat them as if they was chips.. But we know they are not.. But it's my way in having that hand to mouth action while watching T.V. I even toss in baby carrots, and sliced up apples.. It's a good treat for me.. No dip.. Just plan old fruits and veggies..

I have found that Kraft's Light Red Wine vinaigrette dressing is amazing! It has 4g of fat and 45 cals in 2tbsp. I don't like salad's that swim in dressing so i use only 1tbsp. It is low carb and very low sugar too and it taste awesome.

I am so down with cassie bee!

I buy Sweet Modena Balsamic Vinegar and put it directly on my salads with about a 1/2 -1 tsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and it is delicious!

I have started using a little bit of lemon juice on my salads. It adds just a little zip to it and no calories. Today instead of lemon I put my grapefruit and the juice from it on there, it was great.

Try the fat-free dressings from Maple Grove  http://www.maplegrove.com/nutrition_all.asp

Only 5 calories in 2 TBSP of the Balsamic Vinaigrette!!
