Your low cal snack choice?
What do you snack on?
Reason: Unstickied
i second apples! they're great cos it's healthy, sweet, filling and cheap lol
100 cal low fat yogurt (i like yoplait but ive been reading stuff about natural yogurt and that's what ill try next)
bellpeppers with hummus is EXCELLENT and very low cal/healthy snack
grapefruit, great cos it takes long to eat and is a great source of fiber
some people find this weird, but i eat a tomato - just whole raw (like an apple) and it's surprisingly filling.
also, all of the above!
for sweet cravings, i eat half a popsicle (30 calories)
or a mini fudgsicle (45 calories)
or some frozen yogourt
or an apple
or some grapes
or the weight watchers choc cakes
or i make myself a lowfat latte with my trusty espresso machine
or regular yogourt
or half an english muffin with a topping (can anyone say peanut butter?)
Salt cravings are the difficult things. I usually end up satisfying them with a pb english muffin in the end. actually i did buy some thin sliced cold cuts this week, and theyre working out pretty well for me. theyre only 9-10 calories per slice, depending on the type, so i have them on their own or on a carb of some sort. i am getting hummus and wraps this week so i plan on trying that out.

oooo yes dill pickles are a life saviour! and i enjoy some sugar free jello for my sweet cravings too!
gala apple, cabot 75% fat free cheddar cheese, 100 calorie kettle corn popcorn, i have a huge chocolate craving normally. i've stocked up on i think every 100 calorie box of whatever they have in chocolate. lol..
3 fried slices of polenta and cottage cheese, or 4 slices of crackerbread and caviar, both less than a hundred calories and a properly filling snack, especially with a tall glass of diet soda.
Del monte iced mango smoothies are fabulous (99cal) but i'm from the uk and don't know if you can get them in the US.
My favorite thing to snack on is hummus and a half of a whole wheat pita. Or sometimes I dip cucumbers or red peppers in the hummus. The hummus is only 50 cals per tablespoon and the half pita is 80 cals. SO GOOD AND SATISFYING AND NOT MANY CALORIES!!!
If I'm in the mood for something sweet, I have a couple jelly beans (jelly belly) or one of those 100 calorie cookie packs. Oh yeah.
3 Cups mini shredded wheat cereal
2/3 cup Splenda
1 to 2 TBSP skim milk
pinch salt if desired
Line pan with foil, preheat oven to 300. Spread cereal in single layer in pan.
Measure Splenda into a small plastic ziplock bag. Add 1 teaspoon milk and mix by massaging the bag -- push the powder into the milk. Add milk a little at a time until you get a thin icing. Snip the corner of the bag to make a tiny hole. Drizzle icing on cereal, getting at least a dot on each square. Add a sprinkle of salt if desired. Put the pan in the oven and TURN OFF the oven. Remove when the oven is cool. Repeat to use the whole box of cereal. Store in airtight containers.
- 8oz lite cherry yogurt (from lite & fit)
- slice of 2% american cheese, maybe on a cracker
- serving size of caramel/or cheese rice cakes, sometimes with a bit of peanut butter or yogurt on them
- 1/2 cup of low-calorie cereal such as cheerios with 1/2 cup of skim milk
- if you want protein, veggie burgers are around 110-170 calories depending on where you get them. delicious, at least to me. tofu is fun too. and for chicken, just get a 30z breast for 130 and put it on bread. ohh also, egg whites are only 17 cals each!
- handful of nuts
- i loveee fruit. so i eat all raw fruit basically. in my house, i always have apples, tomatoes, sometimes oranges. i can eat up to 5 a day lol. in the summer, i eat grapes, strawberries, and plums a lot. bananas are really healthy too...you could split one in half and put it in cereal.
- as for vegetables, i love em. my favorite is steamed broccoli (30 c a cup?), lettuce, cauliflower, cucumber, celery that's not bitter, bell peppers in a salad, sugar-snap peas...and stuff like that.
- for salads, i usually put 20 cals of lettuce in a bowl. i add a lot of herbs and spices. pepper, chopped onion(but cooked... it's a spice thing), garlic powder, and red wine vinegar. then you can add a tbsp of low-fat cheese, which is around 20 calories. or put some fat free dressing on.
- also, there are a lot of low-calorie snacks. 100 calorie packs, low-calorie chocolate bars, baked lays, 90 cal pria bars, lite popcorn, some cereal, sugar free jello or low-fat pudding
- for drinks, here are some alternatives: skim milk, lite fruit drinks, coffee with splenda and 2 tbsp skim milk, diet sodas, low-calorie energy drinks, tea, crystal lite, sugar free hot chocolate i LOVE
- cold: Fudgecicles (only 60 cals and sugar free is 45 cals), sugar free popsicles, fat-free/low-fat/sugar-free (whatever) icecream yumm, low-fat cottage cheese w/fruit (personally i hate cottage cheese, but you could try it)
- and you could just take small portions if you REALLY want something. like if you want chocolate, just take a piece of dark chocolate.
