low calorie convienence foods??
Hey guys,
This is my situation, I'm sure many of you can relate and hopefully share some of the solutions you've found...
I'm a super busy college student. I'm waitressing, in class, attending clubs, running a lab etc etc etc during normal meal times most days of the week, i.e. always on the run, no time to cook (lately half of my groceries have been going bad before I even get the chance to use them!).
I'm hoping that someone could suggest some premade, or easily packed healthy/low cal VEGETARIAN lunch/dinner ideas (things that travel well in a backpack). At lunch, I have a microwave available, but that's about it.
Thanks so much for any and all suggestions!

Pasta Salad with Broccoli and Almonds
Vegetable Chilli.... heat up and take a pitta bread to eat with it.
Canned soup is always a good go to. . .but if you can cook maybe three times a week and make enough for lunch/dinner in the following days, I think that would help you out! I think it's just a matter of planning what you are going to eat in a day in advance.
Snacks like fruit/baby carrots (easy to grab and perfect portions, too!) are usually a good way for me to take the edge off the hunger so I don't need a huge lunch/dinner.
okay well given that you're saying you don't want to cook...here's my recommendation
buy the uncle ben's microwaveable brown rice....make that for a few days of meals
purchase the steamable veggies and steam those
get already dont chicken--either a rotisserie or canned chicken (if you're not vegetarian....I am so I use tofu)
get some soy sauce...
In about 5 mins you have a complete meal that will last a few days and you can take it with you....
heat up the rice...then the veggies...pull some chicken off the rotisserie...place all items in a mixing bowl that has a lid...pour a bit of soy sauce/teriyaki sauce on it and some herbs/spices...place the lid on...shake it and EAT!! (simple and only a few minutes...healthy too)
would you like more ideas like this or is this not what you were looking for?
thanks!! thats a great suggestion! im vegetarian too. that's exactly the sorts of things im looking for, balanced meal in one container, done. if you've got any others please do share.
