I found Oscar Mayer has a decent lite beef bologna. My 5yr old daughter and I will slip in a slice as a snack once in a while. As lunchmeat goes, it's not too horrible on sodium and it is only 30 calories a slice. They also have a low sodium/low fat ham but I found the sodium for it is still more than the bologna and it has a little more calories too.
turkey breast is really low cal from what i've seen! there are lots of different kinds, i'd try to find some not loaded with sodium. the more unprocessed it is the better off you'll be. plus turkey goes great with lots of different toppings!
i get oscar meyer shaved turkey breat 45calories for 6slices. they have chicken too and it is 50cals for 6slices..taste good too!!
thin n trim turkey breast is reduced sodium and 99% fat free. 45 cal/2oz
light turkey breast, lean ham, tuna....
i like a hummus spread in place of meat sometimes. or just do up a veggie sandwich, maybe add some cheese.

Vklamorick - WHERE in the world did you find LITE Bologna??? That would mean I could have a fried bologna sandwich for UNDER 100 CALORIES!! OMG! I'm excited now!!
How is roast beef? Thats what I ate on my sandwich last 2 days.... It seems like they are all near the same no?
Thanks for the replys,

I usually go for thin-sliced turkey or chicken. I count the slices to make sure it's one serving, though-- no piling on a ton like they do in a deli!
Healthy Choice makes delicious deli ham and turkey, even the honey kind, 4 slices has only 60 cals and 1.5 grams of fat. Highly recommended.
And I recently found these hot dogs that are only 40 calories a hot dog, oscar mayer made from turkey, 98% fat free dogs. Add a whole wheat bun and some splenda sweetened relish and it's a low cal barbaque solution (150 cals, but a little high in sodium), perfect for summer cookouts!

Anyone heard anything about roast beef?
Thanks,
Cory

Most sliced meats are 100g = 100 cal. Which may sound a lot but on a sandwhich you only need about 40g to make it tasty. That's about 2 slices (depending) and just fill up on yummy fillers like tinned pineapple, beetroot, laughing cow cheese, sundried tomatoes (no oil), alfalfa sprouts, mashed pumpkin, baby spinach and you'll be laughing at how low cal it can be for something so filling and tasty.
Just stick to the 97% fat free shaved ham, sliced roast beef, turkey and chicken breast and avoid the smoked as it is high in sodium, which normal sliced meats are anyway.
Cory, was the roast beef acutal beef that you roasted, or bought in a packet (so its thinner and kinda slippery) Either way its pretty good.

I love Roast Beef sandwiches only problem is red meat is high fat/ cholesterol.
Any processed meat is going to be high in sodium. What I usually do is make chicken breasts enough for my dinner and then chop up the rest and add a little fat free miracle whip or you could do mayo and then I have chicken sandwiches for lunch the rest of the week. I also buy the "very low sodium tuna" and boil some eggs and have tuna salad sandwiches - high protein low fat low sodium and filling.
Although not low calorie I do like my low sodium Simply Jif peanut butter sandwiches. I find PB keeps me from getting hungry later in the afternoon.

Red meat doesnt have to be high in fat - they have 97% ff ones. And a little cholestrol is ok, just d0nt eat it every day. Its like eggs - eating cholestrol doesnt give you cholesterol. Plus eating a roast beef sanga, you have a LOT less than if you have roast beef for dinner, or a piece of grilled beef at a BBQ.
That's a good idea. Also try cottage cheese - doesnt taste like may but sure goes well with things that go well with mayo (tuna and cottage cheese sangas are good) And eggs are a great idea toO!
the otehr thing about sodium is, now and then its ok unless you have hypertension or other health problems. A healthy person doesnt need to be super strict with sodium. Just dont have vegemite and toast canned tuna for lunch, lean cuisine for dinner, swiss miss diet for dessert. It can also make you bloat up.

i too, eat hummus sandwiches as someone mentioned above. i will sometimes add cucumbers and other veggies to it also. very good!
oscar myer shaved chicken breast has only 50 cal per 6 slices and i found I only need 3 to be happy
id say weight watchers lean turkey slices you can have 3 slices for only 25 calories and there pretty tastey
Thanks guys. I made a sandwich today only 300 calories. A tortilla shell (173 cal), 7 slices of honey ham (60 cal) and a slize of provolone cheese (70 cal). 300 cal is not bad for a lunch meal right ? oh and + 100 calories for a can of arizona green tea.
sounds fine cory ~ you are doing well to spread your food out between meals! gr8 idea :)
so, did you know? did you know that skinless turkey breast is super low in saturated fat ~ so it falls into the group of "super foods" that are good to eat for health reasons?
Do you cook? get a turkey breast, bake it with spices and then slice during the week for sandwiches. If you can't do this, then look for lunch meats that are low in salt and fat and added ingredients/preservatives.
lean ham, chicken or turkey breast are the best :)

Haven't tried turkey breast and baking that.. But I have tried chicken breast and me and my fiance love it and cook all the time. Just trying different things with it. I have made quesedias(spelling?), chicken and rice, and am looking to do many more things with it.
