Any ideas?  I'm trying to start eating a pre workout snack because I work out in the morning before breakfast and I would like to give my body some kind of fuel so that I can have a good run.  I need it to be low in calories I'm wanting it to be around 100-150 cal.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  : )

A small banana with a bit of PB

Oatcakes spread with hummus

Nuts and raisens

An apple

I find it makes a big difference in my energy level if I eat soon before a workout.  I'll eat anything in the house if I'm in a hurry to get to the gym, but usually it's fruits of any kind or a handful of dates and/or prunes.   If I don't eat I crash after about an hour and I'm out of gas.

I like South Beach Diet bars, either the 100 cal mixed berry bars or the 140 cal High Protein Cereal Bar.  Both have a good amount of protein and fiber and not a lot of sugar.  Having some good carbs in your system is great before a workout.

Wow, you look great!  Just had to say that.  Your arms look awesome.  Great job on the weight loss.

 With peanut butter! :)

ETA: Or a couple of Wasa crackers with Laughing Cow wedges.  Or a light string cheese and a piece of fruit.  I also like a cup of frozen bluberries.

A glass of juice is good too.

Hello, I've been dong the P90X workout in the AM and found RECOVERY drink a good source of energy.  Try it and let me know.  bty, you can buy the powder form at GNC. Take it about 30 miniutes before your run.  Bannanas are good for you as well.

 Thankyou so much!!

Another +1 for bananas. They have potasium, carbs, and are filling. A great source of energy before the workout.

Yeah I think I'm just going to go for the banana.  It's easy and low cal w/the carbs that I want.  Thanks for all the ideas.

I always eat a banana before I go to the gym but I must be the only one that doesn't get filled up from one.  Apples fill me up.  But, bananas are quick, easy and tasty.

stay away from fat before you work out- have carbs and/or protien. a cup of skim milk and a peice of bread maybe. or some yogurt and a piece of fruit
