Low-Calorie Day, not worth it.

Quote  |  Reply

I intentionally ate mostly fruits and vegetables, so i could have a low calorie day and allow myself dessert.

After my dinner, which was a large sweet potato, I had eaten 800 calories. So I allowed myself 215 calories worth of celery (25 calories) and peanut butter (190)

I not only feel unsatified, but I feel like I ruined my diet with all the unhealthy skippy peanut butter.

And now i just want a brownie. How do you guys handle this? I feel pathetic.

You just don't do it again is all!

Everyone has these days where they feel pathetic. Just learn from it. Cool

Next time have a brownie =D

If you are accurately calculating your calories, it is only 1015 total for the day.  That is why you are craving a brownie, you haven't eaten enough today.  Why don't you eat something healthy that brings you up to a reasonable  calorie count for the day?  Something that contains some protein, like a small chicken breast or some tofu, maybe some grains of some kind to give you a more balanced nutrition and calories for the day?

Peanut butter is a healthy food, although I prefer brands that only contain peanuts to Skippy.

I think dkenworthy is right.  Because you only got 1015 total for the day and you had a very unbalanced diet, that's why you feel unsatisfied.  If you do that on a regular basis you'll find weight-control is a pretty miserable, unhealthy and unrewarding business.

How to handle it?.... Work out a more appropriate calorie intake for your age/size/activity level.   1200 cals would be the bare minimum for an oldish, lightish, very sedentary woman.  If you do regular exercise, if you're under 30 and if you're overweight (BMI >25) then you'll need rather more than 1200.  If you're under 21, of course, the bare minimum rises to 1500.

Eat regularly and try to get a more balanced diet.... that means that each meal should have a combination of carbohydrate, protein and fat.  Sugar cravings are less likely when you are well nourished and are taking in plenty of energy.  Then you'll probably feel happier and be more successful

OR, conversely, find a peanut butter alternative! I had to, because try as I might, I can't give it up. I'm addicted. "Better'n'Butter" can be found in most health stores and online - its a little sweeter than most peanut butters, but it comes in regular or low sodium, and is 100 calories per two tablespoons - so manja away!

Keep trying it gets better.  There are some 100 calorie snacks that are really good.
