low calories breakfast ideas?

Quote  |  Reply
Does anyone have any simple low calories breakfast ideas? The only restaurant around my office is Tim Hortons and all they have is low fat muffin which is still 300 calories. Maybe anything that I can make at home and bring to the office? Cereal won't work for me since I am always in a hurry in the morning. Thanks! Oh btw, I eat sandwich for lunch....so maybe not sandwiches too....Thanks a lot!!!!

don't really have many ideas as i'm a total cereal person... just thinking it doesn't really take long to eat cereal? that's pretty much one of the quickest and simplest breakfasts i can think of. o_O

quicker... um... yoghurt? fruits? try to get a source of protein in there. i don't suggest going low with the calories since it's the meal that kickstarts your metabolism. 300 is a good starting point, IMO.
i also love cereal.. and or fruit.  Dannon light n' fit yogurt is good with some bran flakes mixed in.

My favorite is a slice of wheat bread with peanut butter and sliced banana...

it's only 310 calories for 2 slices of bread, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and a whole banana.... so if you only eat half then, it's even lower-cal! Plus, it's filling and you have your whole grain, fruit, and protein, and a little good fat : )
What about cream of wheat or oatmeal. you can take a pack to work and heat it there
I have a half a bagel and a Dannon Light and Fit Yogurt Smoothie on my drive to work. I eat the bagel plain and cold, because it's quicker. I really hate eating breakfast, but I've noticed since I started eating it I make it through the day without snacking much easier. When I have time oatmeal is great, and even an egg cooked in low-cal margarine or cooking spray is good occasionally. They're a lot less fatty than people think and the protein really fills you up!
easy to eat granola bars. my favorite. but make sure to check the sugar on some of those bad boys- it can get quite high. but there are some out there that are actually healhty for you. i've actually made my own granola bars b4, want the recipe? it's great fun and they're healthier for ya.
I make a low-cal English Muffin (100 cals.) each morning, spread it with Laughing Cow Creamy Swiss Lite (35 cals), and top it with a slice of Healthy Choice Honey Ham (30 cals for 2 slices). I eat it open face on the way to work. It's delcious and really filling.
Thanks for all the input !! Really appreciate it!
christenwentboom can you please give me the recipe of homemade granola bar? Thx a lot!!
I know when Im in a hurry I will often grab a meal replacement bar to get the right balance of nutrients.  I like the powerbar performance bar. They are a little high in sugar, but they are also high in protein and nutrients and they tend to "stick with me" a little longer than regular cereals and such.

Egg white omelettes aren't horribly long to prepare and those are good protein and very low calorie as well.

Grab a quick cup of light yogurt and a handful of walnuts or almonds.

That banana and peanut butter on toast sounds really good.  Unfortunately I got a tainted jar of peanut butter a month ago when the salmonella peanut butter recall was going on and the idea of peanut butter still isn't sitting right with me.   I had a jar of low fat peter pan which I like but not anymore ... bleh lol
christins- oh no! Im sorry about the tainted peanut butter .... i know its not the healthiest thing but i've gotta have it : )
cut up fruit, snack.. or dry cereal. Toast w/ a little peanut butter... I love yogurt with berries in it and all bran on top. You could mix the yogurt and berries at home, put the cereal in a little baggie and eat it at work. It also doesn't have to be a typical "breakfast" food. Eat your sanwhich for breakfast and eat something different for lunch?
I love omelettes made with egg substitute!  1/2 a cup of the brand I use (I think it's Nulaid) is only 60 calories, even though it's the equivalent of 2 eggs.  Then I add some bell peppers or whatever veg I have on hand.  I find it pretty filling.
keep some hard boiled eggs in the fridge.  very portable, great source of protein and, if you're like me and crave some carbs in the am, you could grab a small whole wheat pita.

and I am in LOVE with vitamuffins!  sooooo good.
FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT !! With yogurt. Fruit on cereal, porride, toast, anything
i'm in love with VITAMUFFINS TOO! You rock sarabugs!
I don't get too hungry in the mornings, but have started eating breakfast because I have heard it is better for your metabolism if you do eat something.

The dannon yogurts with 60 calories are awesome (I think they are called "light & fit" or something)  I like fruits too.  Like an orange and a flavored aquafina water is a good low-cal breakfast.  Or one of those yogurts and a diet ocaean spray cranberry juice.

(I take a fiber supplement in the morning too, so that helps fill me up too.)
I've been eating a Yoplait Light (thick and creamy is best), mixed with Breakstone's 2% cottage cheese and half of a large orange.  That is about 233 calories.  The toast with Peanut butter and banana sounds delicious, that will be added to my choices next week!
Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal:

-1/2 cup oats microwaved until almost done -Strir in 1/4 cup pumpkin, splenda, cinnamon, and cloves and pop back into the microwave for about 30 seconds -Sprinkle about 1/4 cup of Kix over top for a crust-like crunch -Add 2 tbsp. whipped light cream to the top

~230 Calories

This is so sweet its like eating pumpkin pie for breakfast. Since I started eating this instead of plain oats with just splenda and cinnamon, my sugar cravings have decreased a lot!!
When I am going to school I have to be up and out by 6:30 so i normally mix 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese with 1/4 cup pumpkin and then 1/3 cup fiber one. only 140 cals. Then I drink some water and coffee which normally fills me up.
