low carb + low cal

Quote  |  Reply

ive recently started the low carb, low calorie diet. i dont have definite results yet but i know that atkins diet is really effective when combined with lots of exercise (30+ hours/ week). i was never hungry because protein apparently makes you feel full longer. im pretty desperate to lose weight right now, since ive gained a lot after i stopped professional ballet. of course i will be going to gym a lot with this diet as well. the foods that im consuming tend to rank high on the "healthy" scale...lots of vegetables, lean meats like chicken, smoked salmon, and boiled eggs. does this sound like it will work? thanks in advance!!

If you cut calories you can eat anything at it'll 'work'.  The smart thing, however, is to find a way of eating and some exercise that you can see yourself sticking with for life.  Because if you're only looking at a fad diet like this as a way to crash down the lbs short-term and then you plan to go back to a less restrictive range of foods afterwards, the yo-yo effect can be pretty severe.

Do make sure you're getting the right energy intake... if you're going to be doing 30+ hours a week of exercise you're going to need to set the bar high for calories.  Starving would not be a good thing for your health... regardless of the food types you choose.
