Well you kinda have to do "lower" carb or rather low white flour.

Are you vegan or vegetarian?

Eggs, cottage cheese, yogurts, tofu, nuts, Quorn patties, boca patties, Seitan, Mrngstr crumbles or chik strips, 8th continent light soy milk, ummm more tofu hehe ;)

I think it's asking too much..... You can increase your intake of vegetarian proteins but, by definition, vegetable proteins like beans, nuts and so forth are also classed as carbohydrates.

If your intake of carbohydrates is between 45 and 60% of your total daily calories you're getting a good balance.  If you're choosing wholefoods rather than junk-food (like a lot of veggie burgers) then you're getting good quality carbohydrates.

Why do you want to do a low-carb high protein diet in the first place? Americans, as you probably know- being vegetarian, get too much protein as it is. And low carb diets tend to work b/c you're taking in less calories, not b/c you get less carbs.

I'm vegetarian and my carb intake increased dramatically when I made the switch but I didn't gain any weight, and a lot of people are like that. Just lay off the white flour and you'll be fine

i'm not doing a low-carb diet. its just that my diet seems to be too high in carbs. just wondering if i can find a good source of protein that doesn't also include a ton of carbs.

i guess i'll have to eat eggs...even though they taste gross. : (

Up here in the Great White North, Presidents Choice brand makes an all vegetable, protein powder from soy, rice, pea and hemp protein, unflavoured with no artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners or preservatives.  It's usually cheaper than whey protein too.  90% protein, 25 grams a scoop.  Tastes good too.

Eat lots of beans and lentils, chickpeas and other higher protein alternatives.  I make a version of oatmeal in the morning and recently discovered something called Spelt Bran that is 40% protein and 40% fibre.
