What are some symptoms of low estrogen?? I lift weights a lot, and I have a fair complexion. Lately I've been noticing random darker hairs where they should be light. ITS FREAKING ME OUT!!!! This ever happen to any other women??
I have low estrogen levels but the only symptoms I have ever had is no period, ever. Of course that doesn't mean that dark hairs couldn't be a symtpom...do you have an irregular period, hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, joint pain, dry skin, any other noticable symptoms? See your doctor if it concerns you--they can test your blood hormone levels and decide what to do about it.
Ahh..fatigue maybe but there are lots of reasons fo that...no other symtoms really, just a few random hairs...not noticable or anything, but enough to freak me out!! Like one small, recurring one on my chest..needless to say, I dispose of it whenever it grows back. I'm really scared.![]()
I have low estrogen...the main thing that happened to me was my period dissapeared, and I also had a few dark hairs even though I'm naturally blonde.
O wow I'm exactly the same!! I lift weights a LOT too. I have a low bodyweight and am currently trying to get my weight into the healthy range (am underweight). In the last 4-6 months I have slowly started noticing darker/more hair where it shouldn't be. eg. above my lip, chin, side of face, chest, arms, stomach. It's not too noticeable at the moment (except to me!) but I'm so scared that it'll continue to grow and everyone will be able to see it. I also thought maybe it was low estrogen causing it and maybe higher weight will = more estrogen = less hair .. ? But I really have no idea. The doctor said my hormone levels were normal but I don't know if he tested all of them.. I also read about PCOS but I'm not overweight and don't get abdominal pain at all so I dunno.. sorry not to be of much help!
Thanks!! Glad to know I'm not the only one, yet sorry to hear it
. The funny thing is, my bodyfat is pretty low, but I still have periods and stuff (very painful ones at that). Maybe too much of something?? Maybe magnesium??? Just wondering because lately I've been taking calcium/magnesium/Zinc vitamins, and the bottle says 2-3 a day....Just a thought..
It could also be caused by low body fat. When your body doesn't have enough "insulation" (body fat) it grows these dark, fine hairs called lanugo. It's main purpose is tempurature regulation. It generally goes away by itself once body fat is restored. I guess you could try plucking/shaving/using body hair removal cream, but I don't know how effective that would be.
Thats interesting....I have never heard of that one before. Thanks.
what are your height/weight/weight loss/menstrual stats? It could be hypogonadatropism, including low estrogen; it could also be a symptom of high testosterone, which would need a doctor's attention.
How old are you?
I am 120 pounds, 5'4, and 23 years old, and menstruate like normal.
Then my recommendation is to either accept that sometimes hair color changes (I did have a few darker hairs sproud up now and then!) and take it as a hormone surge from your weight lifting, or go to the doctor for a routine physical and get a hormone and thyroid workup. I'd do this if you notice it more. You sound like you're at perfect height and weight and if you're menstruating normally, your estrogen shouldn't be too bad - though you MAY be having anovulatory cycles (which would mean your estrogen is "normal" but too low for sufficient FSH to stimulate your ovaries for ovulation).
Thats very interesting. I will deinitely keep an eye on that and maybe see my doctor about it. Thank-you!!
