Low Estrogen Levels??? (26)

Quote  |  Reply

I think that I may have low estrogen levels.  I lost my period and did not get it back with the Provera trial prescribed by my doctor.  I was wondering if there are any measures that I can take to *naturally* raise my estrogen levels to regain my period?  I am recovering from ED but I've been at a healthy weight for a while.  I am vegan and I am pretty active.  Any ideas?  I hear that soy has estrogen effects but I don't want to "mess anything up."

soy, omega 3s, and a diet consisiting of at least 30% fat will help. Other than that it just taks time. Make sure not to be too active, as that can cause your period to not come back.

I have an ED aand I've been going tthrough the same thing. I know peopple who did everythings they were upposed too and it still took up to 6 months to get it back.

You need to go to a naturopath and do a saliva test. Then you will know your true levels of estrogen to progesterone. Most medical doctors pooh pooh saliva test but I find them very valuable.

Shouldnt you have responded to provera if your estrogen levels are low?

Also, it normal for people w/ low body weight not to respond to provera?

My doc said that even with low body weight, I should've responded to Provera, so she doesn't think that my body weight is the factor here. Does that make sense??
I don't know the answer to your question but ask you doc!! Low estrogen doesn't just affect your reproductive system, it messes with bone density - so don't put off going to the doctor, get a check up! xox
cant low est levels also cause an increase in abnormal facial and neck hair growth too?

Ummmm, how active is "too active"?  30% fat . . . *gulp*, any suggestions on how to get to that level?  I panic at 15%, freak at 20% but I'm working on it.  One day at a time.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THIS INFO, it is so helpful and warming to know that I'm not alone.

I'd say "too active" depends on evey individual. For some people it can be an hour of exercise a day, for others it can be 3 hours.

As for suggestions on how to get to that level, use healthy fats like PB, nuts, and avicado. Olives are also great. They are 25 cal and 2.5 grams of fat for 4 olives. Other good fats come from eggs, cheese, and healthy oils. You coauld also try condiment like mayo, butter, cream cheese, etc.

I used to actually do shots of heavy whipping cream in order to reach my calorie level when I had to eat 5000 calories a day to gain weight. It wasn't exactly tastey, but it was a fast ad easy way to get those fat calories down! :P
