Low motility in stomach

Hi, guys- anyone have this problem or heard of anyone who does? I am 28 and I am suffering from many GI problems right now. I just completed the Sitzmark test where you swallow 1 capsule a day for 3 days in a row. They contain about 25 small 'markers' each. I went this morning to have an x-ray taken of my abdomen- the radiologist will count how many markers are left in my system (i.e. that my body did not 'get rid' of) and forward the results to my GI. We will try to get a diagnosis and course of action from there. I could go into further detail, but due to presumed embarassment, I will not.

Anyone have any experience with this? It is miserable...

Sorry, no.  Don't have any direct experience.  But it sounds like you're being thoroughly examined which hopefully means that they'll come back with the correct diagnosis.  With all these things, getting a diagnosis is the first step to getting things fixed.  You say GI problems... constipation?
Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, constipation, stomach distention, feeling full quickly, gas...you name it. It has just gotten chronic and I have tried quite a few therapies. I just finally had to consult a GI b/c it has become chronic so to speak.
didn't mean to say chronic twice... :)
Have they ruled out things like gluten allergies?  Candida Albicans?
yeah- they did a full blood work up- all negative

My mom mentioned something like this, she's diabetic so it was really an issue for her as she was having to drink most of her calories.  She had to eat a chicken sandwhich with some kind of dye in it so they could view her.  It turned out that a bone calcium medication that she was on was the problem.  Once she switched medications her digestion went back to normal.

I actually have alot of experience with this.

I would get so bloated, after even eating a small piece of fruit.

cramps, terrible chronic constipation, full easily, the works.

Eventually I was disgnosed with gastroparesis (basically slow moving digestion) And I was put on Reglan, and a low fiber almost all liquid diet for a few months. I'm almost completely recovered, and it took a while, and A LOT of doctors appts. and medications. But, I'm not saying thats what you have-i'm no doctor.

Feel free to message me!

hey -- i have experienced pretty much all of what you're describing....i have had 3 colonscopies and 2 endoscopies in the last 4 years.  also upper and lower GI series......i can totally empathize with you!

my GI doc thought i had chrohns or celiac but my biopsies came back negative.  the only thing they diagnosed me with is gastritis, or chronic inflammation of my stomach, eshopagitis, and IBS.  can't really do much w/ those diagnoses.  oh and i'm lactose intolerant.  last year i was so sick and lost my appetite, i lost like 10lbs.

despite these diagnoses, i still have been experiencing awful gas and bloating.....i've recently cut out oatmeal and cereal.  i know these are healthy foods but something about them have been making me sick.  maybe it's just b/c i eat so much of it haha??  but it has helped with the feeling full, gas, bloat.

my advice/suggestion -- keep a food diary or just mentally make note of the things you're eating.  maybe you are intolerant of something?  it's taken awhile (i'm only 24....all this started when i was in college) for me to get relief but i do feel better, although not perfect.  i've cut out A LOT of food from my diet.  like to above poster, if you need help/want to vent message me...i've been thru so many tests!!

oh and i forgot to say that i'm taking 2 fibercon everyday.  even tho i eat LOTS of fiber throughout the day, my GI doc told me to take fibercon.  i think it's been helping??  you might want to try that...even if you know you are eating enough fiber.

wow!!!

I have exactly the same symptoms mcrouch!

I am currently seeing an oriental medicine doctor who is really helping through accupuncture and herbs. It has been a slow process to get better, but it is imporving.

When did this start for you?

Does it stem from a certain diet or type of food plan you were on?

I'm sure mine was induced by extreme restriction of foods- now to reintrouduce them has been havoc and seems impossible.

thanks so much for the comments, all. hopefully, I will have the results back today or tomorrow from the Sitzmark test and I am actually looking forward to it- hopefully an answer.

A lot of it could be b/c of my recent personal life changes- but perhaps the stress simply exacerbated symptoms that were already there- just not as severe as they are now. It started getting bad like this about 4 months ago, but I have always had digestive problems.

I dunno...we shall see. I appreciate the info you all.

mcrouch,

I have had the Sitzmark test more than once. I acutally start another Sitzmark test Sunday. And I get exrays on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I have suffered from GI problems for years. It is very difficult, my thoughts are with you!

I am 33 years old and I am hospitalized it seems every 5 months for a GI problem. My stay at the hospital goes from a week to two weeks.

Again my thoughts are with you!
