I'm 5'5, 99 pounds, 15 years old, and the widest part of my lower legs are 12 inches. :(
They feel huge on me. I look like I have man legs.
So then, what are yours? Do you think mine are too big? Honestly?
I'm also 5'5" and I just measured my calves. At the widest point they're 17 inches around. I know mine are much larger than average. I have a hard time finding boots and knee socks that fit. As long as you can fit into boots in your shoe size, I don't see the problem.
at 5'5" and 99lbs, your underweight, and i'm positive therefore you do not have man legs. probably more like stick legs.
um.. girls have always and will always be sexy with curvy legs. this is ridiculous to tell you the truth. haveing chicken legs just looks weird for the most part.
there are models out there that actualy get calf implants to make their legs curvier. i will try and understand that you are only 15 and do not know any better.
oh, and by the way, the less curves and size you have in your legs the more they acually look like a mans.
So, what I have found out is that guys love a well-built woman. I'm not talking buff-body-builder type, but definitely toned, and your calf is definitely a muscle that can contribute to sexy legs, especially when you wear heels.
Also, I workout with a bunch of guys, and most of them have these tiny little chicken legs, even when they are well muscled. You are only in danger of having a man's legs if a) they are really hairy and you can tell standing a mile away, or b) if you have no hips.
Look at comic books some time... the "ideal" man is kind of an upsidedown triangle shape, and the "ideal" woman is hourglass shape. Not that we should strive to achieve these images...
Just relax and be proud of your body :-)
LOL, yeah, make sure you shave!
Seriously, though, sweetheart, if you are 15, your body isn't even done forming. Even the girls your age that you compare yourself to feel awkward about their bodies. Celebrate any curves God gives you, because they are a blessing, not a curse! You can exercise to shape your legs, but it worries me to see girls your age on this site, because calorie counting and exercising can be taken to extremes, especially by young girls who feel pressured to look like the airbrushed images of women that are projected in magazines and on TV. If you start on this path at 99 lbs at 15 years old, you'll end up with an eating disorder. If you're self-conscious about your calves, get a pair of high-heeled shoes; they can do amazing things for your legs!
Wow some of these responses were a bit harsh. Everyone has insecurities people...
Anyway. At 5'6 and 120 lbs my calves are 12.5'' and extremely disproportionate from my thighs which are 21'' (widest part). That being said, you probably feel like they're huge because the rest of your body is so tiny. Trust me, no one else notices but you. Once you fill out more you wont think they look so big.
moonbay, that's...kind of condescending.
I've never measured my lower legs and to be honest I don't care to. However, I do measure my waist constantly, so I know what it's like to be insecure about body parts and be convinced that they're manly, ugly etc.
