The lowest calorie breakfast cereals are those that are filled with air and are not sugar coated. Airy puffed cereals include puffed wheat, puffed rice, Rice Krispies and Kix and some of the airy flakes, like cornflakes, that are not sugar-coated. Generally, nuts, dried fruit, coconut, and density drive up the calorie count. But, besides calories, look for the cereal with the most fiber. 'Weight' the calories against the overall nutrient profile, and remember that small portions of fiber will keep you full longer.
