You're already borderline underweight, with a BMI of 18.9. 103 would put you in the 17's, which is...far too low. Unless you have an extremely small build, gaining weight (5-10 lbs.) would probably be beneficial to your health.

omg!!

way 2 skinny

Actually, before you guys pop a vein, try looking at the kids calculator;

"A 64 inch tall, 103 pound, 14 year old girl has a BMI of 17.7, which is at the 26th percentile for age. This suggests this girl is at a healthy weight."

I think 105 is a good weight.

lol i am not that skinny

also, i have a medium frame

You have to be careful about judging for yourself.  You might not be seeing yourself as you really are.  People with extreme anorexia often truly see themselves as fat!  Ask a doctor, nurse, or someone with an objective viewpoint.  Or use the tools on this site.  You might not be as fat as you see yourself.

Ummm 64 inches is 5'4"--my height. My doctor recommends no lower than 110 for that height. That means you, lolruchi, are perfect at the weight you are at. I'm sixteen and weigh about 112, recovering from an ED so I'm looking to gain weight. I can tell you, at our height, 103 would probably look emaciated and unhealthy depending on your build. you say you're medium build? that means you can stand to stay the same weight--or even gain a few pounds.

best of luck!!!

hey i'm relatively new too, i'm 15, 5'4'' and 112-114 pounds. i'm maintaining..hopefully, ha.

but I have been 103 before at 5'3 and looked perfectly normal.. no one had ever commented on me being way too skinny or anything... so if I wanted to reach the same BMI, I should aim for 106 i guess

and u guys dont worry.. lol i dont have a ED or anything.. i eat healthily and make sure to get my fruits daily =]

Okay, so speaking as the MOM of a 15 year old girl, who is thin like her dad, you always have to be on guard that society, especially teenage society, doesn't make you unhappy with your looks. It's the way God, (or Nature, or whatever) made you and you are lovable no matter what you look like.

If you feel good at 103, then you are probably fine. If you feel good at 110, then you are probably fine.

As for BMI-here's what Wikipedia says...

For these individuals, the current value settings are as follows: a BMI of 18.5 to 25 may indicate optimal weight; a BMI lower than 18.5 suggests the person is underweight while a number above 25 may indicate the person is overweight; a BMI below 17.5 may indicate the person has anorexia or a related disorder; a number above 30 suggests the person is obese

That last one? That would be me. sigh...

And remember, body-fat percentage, which you can't measure on CC, is a more important gauge for whether you are too thin or not. You can have a very low body-fat percentage and be really heavy for your height, if you're like Arnold Swartzenegger (sp?), 'cause muscle weighs more than fat. So, if that extra 7 pounds you are thinking about losing could be muscle (if you have been working out more) then I'd say be at peace where you are. It would actually be better for you to keep the muscle since more muscle burns more calories even at rest.

There... aren't you sorry you asked? By now my daughter would have left the room...

Hey! I'm 14 too and I'm about 105-106 and my goal is 100 by Oct. 31.

And my height is 5'3 or 5'4. (I havn't measured myself in a while.)

I personaly don't think 103 is that low but maybe that's just because i want to weight 100 but maybe we can help each other!

My name is Ashley.

yeah i agree. i'm 15, 5'3, and i weigh 101-103. my goal is 96. and even at 100 lbs, i don't look extremely skinny or anything.

You guys didn't look skinny at 100lbs because you've probably grown since then. Naturally, as you hit puberty, especially from ages 12-15, you're going to gain weight and look differently than you did before puberty. It's not a good idea to try to reverse what nature is giving you. I'm sure you've gained weight on your hips, thighs, and breasts since when you weighed 100lbs, and maybe you aren't used to that yet or something. I think the best thing for all of you to do is to get off of this site, and just eat regularly and healthy, and start working out. Worrying about calories at ages 13-15 is totally absurd unless you're overweight. And none of you are overweight, most of you aren't even normal weight. Frown
