Luna Bar VS Special K Bar VS Rice Cake!!!!!! Which one would you suggest??

Quote  |  Reply

Alright, have been STOP eating rice cake for a while now (like 2 months) and yesterday, I went shopping and I ended up buying

Orville Redenbacher's mini popcorn cakes - caramel

Luna Bar - cookie and cream

Quaker rice cake - Buttered flavor

Then I was looking at all these meal/snack bars and I was thinking of buying Special K snack bar (4 grams of protein and 100 calories) OR Power bar - snack bar (5 grams of protein and 110 calories). I also look at others like TLC or Kashi but they are sooo high in calories. I only want to buy these bars because I just want it to be just a treats!! How about Nature Valley - Honey and oat... I don't know which one to choose!! As a treat, I want the flavor to be something like s'more or cookie and cream or chocolate so...what do you guys think?

Another thing is about the rice cake....I ate like 7 rice cake today!!!!!!! (35 calories each) OMG!!!!!! I have NO idea how can I eat all those! So I was looking up something from the internet and it turns out to be that rice cake may be on my No-No food list. Their GI is something like 72!!!!!! And 1 rice cake provide 1 grams of protein and NO fiber....it just pure carbs!! Anyone addict to these rice cake?

Any types of snack bars do you guys like or want to suggest??

By the way, I eat pretty healthy during weekdays and I give myself a break from friday dinner to like...lunch on sunday but I still want to make a better choice during my snack days.

I love the Luna bars...Nutz Over Chocolate is a particular favorite, but most of them are good.  They are higher on the calorie end, but they are fortified with certain nutrients.  Any of the choices you listed are going to have superhigh carb counts though.

I love, love, LOVE Special K snack bars. They're so yummy.

Only problem is, they cause a bit of a self-control issue for me. Often, I'll eat 3 or 4 of them in a row. But if you can control yourself, they're a delicious snack, low calorie, mildly nutritious snack.

Have you tried the Clif Z Bar? They have chocolate chip, chocolate brownie, and PB flavors. They are for kids so they are half of a regular Clif bar, at about 120 cals, and tons of protein. I loves these!!

i'm a rice cake person (white cheddar, butter flavor or lightly salted).  i save the sugar for real-deal sweets.  nutrition/protein bars have too many calories for the small package, so i don't do those.  they make a good snack if you're not someone who'll eat 12 of them (like i am).

Well, I just like the test of the granolar and I just like to much on something chewy like bar once in a while. Like, I'll fly back home (In Thailand) in 3 weeks and since I guess I wouldn't be able to have breakfast (my school bus will drop me off at the airport which is like 3 hours away and my flight is 11 in the morning) so I think I might want to have some kind of nice good snack. I wish I could have yogurt but since I don't have refrigerator so...I can't. I might have some fruits and probably something else...I have to think about it a bit.

And I saw the rice cake recipe on quaker website. The Strawberry and whipped cream on chocolate rice cake looks REALLY REALLY YUMMY!! I have to try to make something like that for my mum when I got to see her in 3 weeks!!! (I havn't gone back to my country for almost a year..and I got into ED because I was homesick...at least that is what my nutritionist told me...)

Still, I have to admit...rice cakes are quite yummy!

Below are my favorite bars listed in order:

1.  Fibre 1 Oats & Peanut Butter 150 cal, 5g fibre (20%), Sugars 12g

2.  Nature Valley Fibre Source Honey and Almond 130 cal, 5g fibre (20%), Sugars 8g

3.  Nature Valley Fibre Source Apple Cobbler 120 cal, (don't have the other #'s at the moment)

4.  Fibre 1 Oats & Chocolate 140 cal, 5g fibre, 13g sugar

5.  Kellogs All Bran Bars Honey Nut 130 cal,  4g fibre (16%), 9g sugars

The Kellogs All Bran one is not chewy like the others listed above are, more like a graham wafer consistency.  All the other ones are chewy....ahhhh....chewy....drool.

Go for Luna.  Not only are they full of nutrients, but if you drink a little water with them, you will defs not be hungry for a few hours (if you're like me).  One bar contains 100% of your daily requirement of Vitamins C, E, B6, B12, and Folate; 25% of A and Chromium; 35% of Calcium; 30 of Iron; 80 of B1 and 2,  and a ton of other nutrients - too many to list!

Personally, I choose the Iced Oatmeal Raisin and Dulce De Leche flavors, as they have the least amounts of fat: 3.5 and 2 grams, respectively.

All the flavors are low on the Glycemic Index, high in fiber and protein, and moderately low in fat.  Yes, they are kind of high in sugar, but so too are the Special K bars - which will not fill you up, and do not contain many nturients.  I look at the Special K bars as junk food, since they are high in sugar, low in fiber and protein, and high very few nutrients.

Without a doubt, choose the Luna bars!  Or, Fiber One Oats & Chocolate bars are super good too.  Yes, they're also high in sugar, but they have almost 20% of your daily requirement of fiber!

Good luck taste testing!  :]

Go to www.buildingbrawn.com

You will find a bunch of yummy bars and shakes that you can eat guilt free. I prefer Universal CarbRite Bars... 190 cals, 21g protein, 0 grams of sugar... a great midday snack :)

I love special K.  I eat one every morning with my coffee for breakfast! :)
~H~

my fav one are the Fiber One Chocolate Oats & Chocolate.  its really good and have like 9 Fiber.  Of course this is something ill eat like once a week.  But its beast eating a candy or something

The Other is the Special K Bar Vanilla - Probably my favorite..  But like the other bar, i rather use Fruits and stuff as payin 2 bucks for 5 Bars can get expensive =(

I like the women's Luna bars...they are awesome.....and I still got a 8 pack of abs eating one of those everyday for a snack....they taste so good. The y are made by Cliff bars...those taste good too.

I just got hooked on Luna Nutz over chocolate.   Very good with a glass of

milk.

I usually go for protein - I feel fuller longer. It's worth a few extra calories to me, personally. I also LOVE Twisted bars. They remind me of the Take 5 bar - caramel, nougat, pretzel, covered in chocolate, but the Twisted version is well under 200 calories and has 15 grams of protein. It's my morning or afternoon snack most days and with water or a cup of tea it really holds me over til lunch or dinner (I need to snack between meals or I overeat).

luna bars! mmmm!

although i found another kind of bar that is much cheaper than luna -only 60 cents. it's the 'balance bare' sweet and salty peanut butter. mmm!

I like Luna bars too.  The cookies and cream one is good, and I also like the Iced Oatmeal kind and some of the other ones too. Ive never had special k bars, but I think luna bars are pretty nutritious.  I also like Pria bars.  Those are quite high in protean.  I like some of the Odwalla granola bars too.
