luna bars vs. south beach bars
i've been eating the south beach high protein cereal bars religiously (1 almost every day) ... i've seen the luna bars have gotten really good reviews on here and i was thinkin about tryin them but im not too thrilled about the carb or sugar amount... has anyone tried both, and if so which do you like better?? thanks!
And does anyone in Canada know where I can get my hands on either?
Thanks!
Well, I haven't tried the South Beach ones, but I have tried the Luna bars and I wasn't too fond of them.
Try going to Amazon.com. I'm not sure if they ship to Canada, but you can try. Research and see where you can find them. Everybody has their own opinions on the taste of things, so it wouldn't hurt for you to try them out and make your own decision.
Personally, I'd go for the one that is healthier for you. Unless you're super active, I would hate to waste carbs and sugars on just ONE protein/granola bar. =)

its personal preference. i like luna better (like iced oatmeal raisin) , but some of the flavors i like other people avoid like the plague.
tigerlily120, have you tried loblaws? they carry it at my local store.
Definitely the Luna Bars -- I threw out the box of SB after just one (less than) bar...
But, everyone has their own tastes

i LOVE luna bars. the SB bars are too tiny for me for the amount of cals they cost. i would have to reccomend VitaMuffins though. granted you do need a microwave, they are only 100 cals and keep me fuller for longer then any bar i've ever eaten.
after eating a luna bar you realize how much the south beach bars tastes absolutely like fake food....luna bars just taste like a treat :)
vmcbutterfly i have a box of banana nut and the chocolate vitamuffins in my freezer as we speak! haha i love'em.. but i need some sort of "bar" to bring to work.. i think i'm gonna buy some luna bars this weekend =)
my grocery store doesn't sell the banana nut which i think i would like much more then the blueberry. haven't tried the chocolate one yet
has anyone else tried both luna and sb bars???
ive tried
Luna:
iced oatmeal raisin: thought it was great. better than the actual cookie
smores: good
toasted nuts n cranberry: a big trail mix bar, really (still good)
caramel nut brownie: great. tasted like a less dense brownie
South Beach:
100 calorie chocolate peanut butter: o-k. luna's. Nutz over Chocolate was better
cranberry almond: again, o-k, not good really, not bad.
Clif bars are great too. the ones ive tried and liked were black cherry almond, chocolate chip, and peanut butter chocolate chip
but again, personal preference, ya know?

I have. I like the SB ones better. Esp. the peanut butter. Plus they are low in sugar. The Luna bars are high in sugar, and for me, that makes them a treat and a treat only, not an every day thing. If you want extra vitamins, go for a multivitamin, and keep on eating your SB diet bars. Also, Luna bars taste vitamin-y, I think.
mmm, I'm actually eating a Luna bar right now haha. I LOVE them, they come in such a variety of flavors and for 180-190 calories per bar, its like cheating but your not. I'm not trying to lose weight, but I like them anyway. Plus, there 70% organic with no crappy preservatives or anything. But I guess its all about personal preference which one you like better.
Heres Luna's site if you want it

I've tried both, and didn't particularly care for either. But I absolutely LOVE the Fiber One bars. They have a chocolate one and a peanut butter one. They taste like candy bars. I couldn't find the nutrition info on this website, but the package says...
Cals: 140 (40g)
Fat: 4g
Sodium: 90mg
Carbs:29g
Fiber: 9g
Sugars: 10g
Protein 2g
So, bigger, more fiber, less sodium, and better tasting in my opinion.
Kashi also makes really good cereal bars, but, again, they aren't high protein. But if high protein isn't a must, you should try these. Hope this helps! :)
The Luna Sunrise bars are a favorite of mine. And I like the Fiber One bars as well. I don't eat the south beach bars.
dont south beach bars have more protein? if so, id go for the south beach diet bars.
luna bars have about 10 g of protein and are low on the glycemic index as well as 70 percent organic. i have been eating them every day for years. they are satisfying and ohhhhh so tasty. chai tea is like a gingersnap, oatmeal raisin iced is like an amazing cookie and chocolate peppermint? omg heaven
Luna bars are high in sugar. They are 180-190 calories a pop. (Personally, I think you could have a more satifying volume of food like fruits and veggies for that calorie amount).
Anything South Beach tastes fake. So I won't even go there.
Try Pria bars! They are wonderful! They are manufactured by the Powerbar company. I like the 110-calorie variety. It's the perfect snack if you pair it with a fruit or a string cheese or something. The flavors are amazing too. I switch from the chai-vanilla and the double chocolate cookie variety.
