So - my boss came in from out of town and offered to bring us out to lunch.
We went to a local pub and I had a chicken sandwich (I tried), but they have DELICIOUS fries...so I caved on those. Drank water though :)
Well, it totally threw my "plan" off today. I've logged and restructured, but here's what I did...I kept my normal 180 Cal afternoon granola bar snack and plan to eat a bowl of cereal for dinner (maybe some yogurt if I get off work in time to exercise more).
So - was that good? To taper my calories throughout the afternoon evening based on the bad lunch? I know I can't just NOT eat the rest of the day, so I've cut from my normal 900 or so afternoon calories to around 500.
Well, let me know what you guys think.
Lunch sounded lovely. Best thing to do is have your normal supper and carry on as if nothing had happened. You might be 300 or 400 over for the day but it'll make absolutely no material difference to your weight-loss this week. But if you try to skimp by on too light a number of calories tonight with a bowl of cereal you could find yourself snacking later in the evening. Sometimes if you've been dieting for a while a day where you have a few extra calories is even a positive thing
Best of luck
I agree with gi-jane. Eat your planned dinner--that puts you "back on the wagon" immediately.
instead of having cereal for dinner, I would try to add in more veggies than normal. The reason is because cereal does not usually fill me up for very long-- unless you mean a cereal that is very light on sugar and high on fiber. That would also depend on how late you go to sleep... cereal for dinner would mean I need another snack before bed. Maybe you don't, though.
a good thing to do in general is to have some frozen veggies always available. A "back up plan" so to speak. So, if you go over like you did today, you can steam up some veggies to fill up a bunch of space for dinner for really low cals (they even come in pre-packaged microwave steamer bowls). Experiment with adding different kinds of spices to them and you can eat them on their own even..or with some plain chicken breast... a favorite of mine is lemon juice with pepper.
Remember, it takes 3,500 extra calories over your daily burn rate to GAIN 'one' actual pound. I would eat lots of vegies and have a normal dinner and not dwell on it.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
