at school i have the first lunch at 11:45 i only have 2 friends in that lunch period with me. My friend has a boyfriend who comes and sits with us though he doesnt have lunch then, hey has time release. Well he is a wrestler and is always trying to loose weight before his meets. He wants to be in the 120-125 weight class and he is 5' 9"!!! its so bad. His goal was 114. So every day he sits with us and while we are eating all he talks about is how long hes gone without food and what he can do to loose more weigh (ei: more laxitives/dieretics/working out in the heated weightroom), he also leaves and weighs himself in the weightroom like 3 times in the 20 minute lunch period! Well i am recovering from anorexcia and he is so triggering!!!! It is so hard to eat all my food i know i need to gain while hes talking about unhealthily loosing. I dont know what to say to my 2 friends that im there with, they just listen to him and talk to him and i just feel so uncomfortable.
Any advice on what to do. I dont have any other friends to sit with. Should i say something to him???
If you think you can, talking to him in private might be a good idea. Or with you friends there, either one. Does the girlfriend of the boy know you are recovering from anorexia? Maybe you can get HER to say something to her boyfriend.
Unfortunately it's not at all uncommon in the sport.. just remember you're not a wrestler. =/ Can you tell a school counselor about this? It might be possible to switch your lunch period.
Tell the coach (if you think he isn't the cause) and his school councelor.
IF you think the coach knows... That coach should be ridden out on a rail for causing this boy to become annorexic! Inform the principal, and tell your parents, tell his parents.
I know you will feel like a snich... but Sweetheart, it is more important to get adults to handle this. what is the point of Loyalty if it only enables the ones we care about to hurt themselves. Besides it is better to have a friend angry then, dead or ill.
Though eating disorders are definitely more prevalent among the female population, that doesn't mean that males don't or can't suffer from them as well. I thought that for a while... until my male cousin, ex football player, showed up inpatient on the same unit at the same time I was in treatment.
