I am very mad at me!! I work in an office building with many other organizations, so at least once a week there is a 'coffee break' sponsored by a hotel chain that offers a lot of unhealthy product.
I typically hide in my office during the coffee breaks so that I'm not tempted. I didn't know about todays and walked through it on my way to the washroom. So I got stuck in it and, of course, wound up with a muffin.
Not just any muffin, a calorie-loaded Tim Horton's blueberry muffin. And I contemplated throwing it away but instead, I ate it.
330 calories consumed, I don't even really like their muffins, I have to skip my normal snack. That's like all of the calories that I have burned on my 5km run tonight and I don't really like doing the run.
Why didn't I just throw it out???? I'm so mad at me!!!
Try not to beat yourself up! It was one day, one muffin! Maybe you could make the one day when they have these coffee breaks your treat day where you get to chose one treat they bring in and eat it without guilt!

I agree with moonpie (cute name). We are entitled to a treat every now and again. I mean, we hold ourselves to our diets with regularity. Push ourselves to do better every single day. I wish I could remember where on CC that I read the post where it was said that we shouldn't feel guilty for treating ourselves once in a while after we have met a specific goal.
If you are worried about falling off the wagon so to speak, why not speak with whomever is responsible for planning these events and ask them to put something healthy on the menu? Its worth a shot. Or better yet, on the days you know that it is going to happen, bring your own snacks so that you won't be tempted. Just a thought.
Good luck.
I hear what you're saying and I agree, except that I know me. Every day it seems like "I'll just have a hot chocolate" or "I'll just have one extra snack". I'm pretty good at never completely falling off and consuming way too many calories (I used to, but I've gotten better) but those 300 or so each day add up.
I'm frustrated because every day I'm at the 2000 calorie mark (I really, really respect those of you who can stay at 1500). I'm managing to lose some weight, but I have to burn it all through exercise.
At the end of the day, instead of celebrating that I lost 300 calories by jogging, it always seems to be that I burned off that extra muffin that I hadn't planned on eating.
been there done that and it sucks, but just stick to your schedule and don't stress about it :)
I find it better if I plan my day on CC out in advance! I keep all my snacks at my desk, I even have abowl of fruit. I bring my own lunch and I let myself eat about once a week usually CFA or Potbelly since I can do ttheir nutritional info on line.
I stay between 1300-1500 calories during the week and on Saturday I let myself have 1700-2000 but no more. If you liek hot chocolate try buying the diet or try decaf coffe with the chocolate coffee powder way less calories.
It is hard to make the right choices and I screw up all the time but it is about getting back on track :)!!!
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
