SO MAD this morning.
This morning I weighed in and gained the 2 lbs that it has taken 3 weeks to loose! It is that time of the month and I sure hope that is the problem. I can only say I was VERY ANGRY. That is putting it mildly! Thanks for letting me vent. I really hope this is water retention or something because I have NOT went over the calorie intake and I exersice everyday creating the required deficit! ERRRRRRR.
Oh, I'm sure it's just that time of the month
I always gain 3-5 lbs! - and then lose them within 3 or 4 days
Wait a few days before you weigh yourself again and don't worry too much
If you didn't eat way over your limit it can't be real weight gain![]()
I was up a pound because I hadn't taken my morning poo yet. Don't get upset about normal body fluctuations. It'll make you crazy!
Thanks for the support I really needed it.
1 pound of fat = 3600 calories. So unless you ate 7200 calories over your normal maintenance calorie intake it's not fat. Fluctuation due to water retention/dehydration, etc is perfectly normal. Just keep this in mind when you step on a scale so you don't drive yourself crazy.

niuniu, i've been tracking my weight for almost three years, and when i'm at that high point in my cycle, i look back to the same point in the previous cycle to see my progress. it really helps me to keep things in perspective. my weight loss has been exceptionally slow (when i'm not gaining), but if i can look back and say, "okay, i'm a pound and a half lower than i was before my last period," then i know i'm still on the right track.
I don't remember exactly but didn't they say that Elvis had like 45 pounds of something in his system when he died? Whenever I gain weight for no logical reason, I have to think of Elvis.
Wow, I sure hope I don't have what Elvis had, hee hee
P, Good idea. Logically I understand all this but this morning is just PMSed at the scale. Thanks again for the support.
You gave me some support so I'm gonna do the same thing for you--don't worry about it!! We both know it's not actual fat it's just hard to get our minds to believe that :P I think part of my problem is I haven't been drinking as much water in the past week as I usually do so I'm probably dehydrated. And you said it yourself you know it's cause you're PMSing! Just try to focus on your weight going back down in a few days cause it will :)
Ooooh I've so been there! No matter how logical I am, or how many times I tell myself it's impossible for it to be fat when I'm eating right and creating a deficit, it still hurts to see that number go up!
I started posting my weight on here every day, so I could see the fluctuations, but more importantly, could see the trend. As long as that trend line is still going down, I know I'm okay.
But yeah, all the logic in the world doesn't help that initial "GAH" feeling when you step on the scale lol. I'm here for ya!!!
You nailed it on the head, kukua... It is the inital "GAH" feeling first thing upon waking.
I totally get what you are feeling. Although we know it is more water weight because we are women, it still doesn't mak us feel any better. It's this constant battle with the scale. I would try not to weigh yourself during your cycle. Yes, it can make you crazy. Don't give up
