Made my goal but

Quote  |  Reply
I finally made my goal weight of 125lbs, but I still see all my body flaws :(  When I look in the mirror, I still think I look large.  I feel like I need to lose another 5lbs, but I doubt that would make me feel better.  Argh!!!  Losing the weight was a lot easier than changing my mental body image.

lose till your satisfied then.
I would disagree, pinthin.  If it's a body image issue, and not a health issue, then maybe she shouldn't lose any more.  Maybe what she needs is counseling?  After all, if it's a mental thing, she could lose pound after pound and never be satisfied.

It's hard to say for sure.  If your BMI is healthy, and you are exercising and in good health, then losing more weight might not solve this problem.  If you still have 5 pounds to lose to be healthy, then by all means do it.  But if you don't actually need to lose, and you are just unhappy with yourself, then you may need to talk to someone about it.  (You said in your original post that you doubt losing 5 more pounds would make you feel better.)

Be proud of what you've accomplished!  And if you can't...then talk to someone who can help.  :)  Good luck!
hey girl, wow you did so well you have to be prowd of yourself, millionms of girls would kill to be your size just read and you will see :) so u have a think with yourself, soulds like you are putting yourslef down and pressuring yourself, whats really going on in your head, did you loose weight you suit yourself or sis you do it forsum one esles? what were your reason for this? to make yourself feel better why dont you buy some new clothes adn put on your makeup, would you still feel bad? i think you should keep going to the gym or get a membership, than you can keep toned up, u will loose a little less but you will look good for it thats maybe what you need x message bk bexy dont fell like this a lone im here to help you
you might change your focus from losing weight to toning up. also realize that at any healthy weight, the female body has areas of stored fat that we are likely to see as flaws, so your expectations/mental attitude might need some adjusting.
Thanks ladies.  It is a body image problem.  I didn't realize I had this problem until I decided to get healthy again. I was really thin before I had my two children and when I got pregnant I gained a lot of weight. 60lbs.  It took two years to lose the 40lbs and then I got stuck.  I gave up for a while and just decided that this was the weight I was supposed to be.  I gained another 5 lbs at Christmas, and decided that that was it.  I lost the weight by using the calorie counter and it really worked well. I did it healthy which I am proud of, but I figured once I got to my goal, I would be satisfied.  I don't understand why I can't be happy with my body.  Now, I look at my stomach and think, if I could only lose that skin that is there etc...   I do work out between 4/5 x week for an hour.

I will say that I am 5'5 and 125 lbs exactly.
Perhaps work on toning your body to help get the shape you want.

Congrats on hitting your goal!  You should be very proud of yourself for acheiving this! :)  I know I'm proud of you.

Why don't you pull out pics of yourself BEFORE you decided to lose the weight and compare that to a pic of yourself NOW - You'll feel better when you see that! :)

so your the perfect weight, i think its more of a addiction thing, they do say once you shed the first few pounds its easy the rest of the way, maybe your a little scared that you will put it on again like before, but its natural to wen your pregnant. i think you shold be happy to look in the mirrow you need to compare yourself of what you used to look like. if i were your weight i would be dancing around everywhere, keep up the good work and also try a firming lotion they are fantastic! xxx
Queenie, do you exercise at all? If you haven't been exercising, then as you lose you end up being the same shape, only smaller. Only exercise has the power to reshape your body. Also exercise does WONDERS for your body image and your mood. It makes you concentrate less on what you look like, and more on what your body can do. Plus exercise has been shown to improve depression... and the negative thoughts that come along with it.

As for the skin, yeah, often there's loose skin after we lose a great deal of weight. Give it some time, it may rebound on its own.

Finally, it is true that our brains lag behind the reflection in the mirror. Ask around... get an honest third-party opinion. Go try on clothes at the mall and spend a lot of time forcing yourself to be objective. Compare yourself to other people of the same weight and height and general body shape. This will help your brain come around over time.
Queenie, you have done amazingly well!!  I am really please for you.

I agree with Cjeka, get some old photos of yourself, write down 5 things that you can do now that you couldn't do before, have you still got any of your "fat clothes"?  You could have a bonfire or go around the house wearing them and looking a bit daft in clothes that are too big!  :o)
Can't help much, but....hide the mirrors?
Queenie to reach your goal is amazing
my doctor suggested this to me

when you reach your goal (which may NOT be your ultimate goal)_ live with yourself for at least one month - then see how you feel

I was told it can take some time for your mind to catch up with your body :)

Queenie - I totally understand how you feel.  I am almost at my goal (2 pounds to go!) and sometimes when I look in the mirror all I see are flaws.  I too wonder if 5 more pounds lost would make me feel better, but I think that feeling better about how I look and my body has to come from inside.

I dont know how to go about improving my body image, but I know that is the key.
