I don't have to click to know how sexist it's going to be... it's askmen.com. :P

I know, I hate that website.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND SELF-CONSCIOUS IN 10 EASY STEPS

But seriously, if any of those ten things were done/said to me I would feel more like **** than if my boyfriend were just to be like "you've gotten fat, I'm not attracted to you anymore."

"..she may not realize that she’s being tricked into shedding a few pounds, and even if she does, you’ll end up with a happier, more self-confident girlfriend rather than a grumpy lard-ass."

No, no, the title needs to be "How to make your girlfriend COMMIT SUICIDE in 10 easy steps"...

Especially if her frickin chair breaks!  Omg, that happened to me not long ago on a camping trip, there was a guy who weighed easily 2 times as much as me on the chair (kinda scary right?) and nothing happened, then I got on, and I broke it!  Wtf moment.  I cried for an hour in the tent.

Oh man, I got a good laugh at that 'article'.   It's just too stupid to be taken seriously.  I've been married for 12 years and we are both in the process of losing weight.  I know none of those 'ideas' would work.   The comments on the article were pretty amusing as well.. unfortunately I am sure that was the real intention of the 'top 10'.  To basically get your goose and make you well.. livid.

I read the comments, but what the hell is going on in them?

Disgusting.  All that talk about "shaming" your gf into losing weight.  I hope men don't actually read that list and think any of it is a good idea.  I don't think any of those ways were "subtle" at all, and anyone who tries to shame their significant other into such a personal decision has to be a horrible person.

I'm not familiar with askmen.com.  I hope to god it's supposed to be facetious.

ugh. If it helps, there are plenty of guys who aren't like this. But there are some incredible d*bags out there.

you went to that site expecting what?

Frankly I don't think you can trick an adult into losing weight, doing what they say in the articles will just get your significant other very mad at you. If you don't like something about each other just say so, be sincere.

Oh my. Was that serious?

I can't imagine anyone actually doing the chair thing!? That's terrible. It hasssssssss to be a joke!

Loosen the screws on the chair, so that it collapses when she sits in it making her think her weight was the contributing factor?

Oh my goodness! That's so wrong it's funny! (sorry, warped sense of humor).

I was putting on a bit of weight years ago and my boyfriend at the time simply asked, "what can I do to help you get back into shape?". I wasn't offended. It's not like I needed him to hint that I've gained weight by pinching my new fat (as the article suggests). It was obvious that I'd gained weight and that I was unhappy about it. I appreciated that he not only addressed it, but offered to help.

We started running together and changed our diet. Eventually, I got thinner and healthier. He loved me just the same the entire time...perhaps more when he learned I wouldn't sulk at his attempts to help me improve an area of my life that I was struggling with.

pgeorgian - i don't normally go to that site. It was posted and commentated on on the female news site jezebel.com

where's the article that says "10 subtle ways to tell him he's getting fat"

no wonder why guys are so stupid - because they read articles like this!

Yeah, how many times do you turn on the TV and see some chubby, flannel shirt-wearing guy with a thin, hot wife.  God forbid she should put on 10 lbs and "let herself go" right?

Probably just better to say it outright. I don't think I'd have time to put up with a girl who would get fat and, making no effort to improve herself, get pissed off at me for bringing it up. Being a slob is not attractive to most people, and it never will be. It's a mental problem as well as a physical one. And I wouldn't expect anyone to be attracted to my former fat, cheeseburger and soda-devouring self.

Overweight does not mean you're a slob, nor does it mean you're not making an effort (just not necessarily a successful one). But that's ok ibez, I don't think many girls would be interested in your self-righteousness either, which pretty much eliminates the problem.

seriously? i thought it was funny...especially the chair one. nefarious indeed. heh.

guys cant really say anything, i think thats the whole point.

ladies, if you read it in cosmo it would say the same stupid crap.

Since when does overweight equal slob?

The whole time I read it i just kept hearing the word "castration" in my head.

Hm, wonder why.

Hmmm, they all seem fine to me.  I don't see where there's a problem.
