My doctor's are telling me that I have to gain weight and get to 108-110 range. I'm currently at like 102-103 and I'm just worried that when I get to 108-110 I will just keep on packing on the pounds. I mean last week wednesday I was 102 so my weight gain is going pretty slow but when I do get to the weight they want me at I don't want to continue to gain. So how do you maintain after you reach your goal?

I lost 55lbs and got all the way down to 100-102, I was too skinny, i am 5'2. So starting in September i bumped up my calorie intake to about 1400-1700 daily and I am not a healthy and happy 107-109. I feel much better because i can eat more and i look healthier and more atheletic and toned. I was the same as you sooo scared, but i did it little by little and i have been maintaining this weight. Just excercise and keep calories under control.
heh I'll try. but my mom's like always trying to fatten me up like excessively. Like let's go to cold stone every night. I'm like ughhhh enough already.
This is so motivating.
I am 5'2 and 97/98 lbs. I need to be 108 - 110. It IS scary to gain. I can't imagine it. Daisyg -- you felt bad at 100 lbs? I admire your strength to realize you were underweight.
I have so much trouble eating a lot. (I'm recovering from anorexia)
Anadrea

I know, it is very scary to change something that you work so hard to do. I was not really anorexic but I did realize that I could be headed down that road and I was starting to turn food into an enemy. I knew that I did not want to be that way the rest of my life. I was not happy and I would look in mirror and think i looked hot(when I was like 100lbs) then i saw myself in some pictures and I was like, oh migod, I am too skinny. So then I told myself that I was strong enough to lose weight, strong enough to realize I was headed down a bad path and change, so i knew strong enough to gain a little weight and be more healthy(which is more importtant than being skinny) and I could eat again. So i continue to eat very healthy, go to gym 4x per week and i maintain and muhc more happier!!!! Trust me, you can do it!! Just do it slowly and go at your own pace no one elses.
But do you still fit into the same pant sizes. I'm just worried that I'd have to buy tons of pants because I can't fit into the ones I wear now.
Am I the only one who is actually "bigger" at size 102 than when at size 108? ^_^;
At first I was appalled by the idea that I would gain weight, but I eat healthy, scrap the scale, workout 6-7days a week, and here I am 108, and I look better than I was at 102. I packed more muscles, that's where the weight gain mostly.
Clothes wise I do buy new ones to show off the new bod ~.^ hehe... Seriously, no. Clothes stay the same, but fits better. No muffin tops, seams not hanging-on like they gona burst either.
Theoritically you will stay at 108, if you eat the same amount of food that takes you up from 102-108. I eat anywhere between 1200-1500 depends on how I feel with activity levels etc, or even 1800 (weekends and traveling days usually). And so far, I am still maintaining.

The jeans i used to wear at 100-102 still fit, they are tighter and i fill them out more. used to they would be tight til i sat in them a few times then baggie. now they stay tight and look good. but you guys are still scaring me b/c you all go to gym 6-7x per week. i cannot do that. i would be so burnt out. i do 4x sometimes 5x but very hard long workouts, so maybe it balances.....
i dont know aboyt ne1 else, but you guys' calorie intake still seems pretty low to me. i mean, i'm 16 and i eat anywhere from 1700-2100 a day, with 30 minute runs every day. but i'm 5'8" maybe that has somethin to do with it.
I am sure i can eat 1800-2000 work out 4x per week and stay 110 but i am scared. some days i eat this much but not daily!!
I'm 5'7" and around 100 lbs, and still having a heck of a time upping my calories... I'm not trying to avoid high-calorie foods - they just don't sound appealing... I had broccoli, carrot, onion, celery w/ soy sauce stir fry for lunch and dinner today because I craved it so bad, and now I'm going to bed, realizing I only ate around 500 calories today! gah!
im 17 and 5 5' and weigh about 112 pounds, should be 124 with my bone structure.
last summer i lost weight, i went from 150 to 120,( yes i lost nearly 30 pounds in two mounths) however when i hit 120, i pretty much shocked my body with the weight loss, and much of my fat cells still remain. Anyway, when i hit 120 i kept dieting and restricting. By the middle of November last year, i was about 106.8 pounds!. Ive since gained at least 3 pounds of muscle back, and im still need to gain at least 10 pounds. Heck, since ive been gaining back weight ive always been hungry, and have forced my self to eat nearly 2800-3000 calories a day.
Heres my basic message: gain the weight back, then worry about the body fat, and then focus on toning. To maintain, simply reduce your gaining calorie intake and do exersise 4 times a week.

yeah since I've been trying to gain weight I've been getting so much hungrier and my stomach has been hurting for like the past few days on and off. I have no idea if it's because my body doesn't like the fatty food or what but it comes so frequently.
And I also don't like eating a lot of bad foods. the only bad foods I like are ice cream some kinds of granola bars. I usually feel so bloated after eating like a brownie now.

yes, i eat quite a bit of calories, mostly from all natural foods, alot of the calories come from hearty and fiber rich foods. yet i still feel cravings and hunger...
i drink plenty of water and eat right. i avoid empty calorie foods, yet i still feel hungry? i feel this even after i knew i ate 3200 cals for the day, at least 500 over my maintinence, most of the time ive been ingoring it, and i have been maintianing my body fat... and have been gaining muscle, so.. maybe my metabolism is very fast??

What am I doing wrong? I've been going to the gym since September and I was about 103 then. For a while I went down to 101-102 pounds and I'm just not gaining any muscle. I do weight training whenever I do cardio and I usually make it to the gym 4 times a week most of the time. Sometimes five but I usually do yoga and only a few weights afterwards which I don't consider an intense workout. What do you suggest I do?

well first of all flowurpowur, i had the same issue. i did weights, yet i wasnt gaianing any muscle at all...however i wasnt lifting for muscle gain, i was doing low weight and alot of reps...this is known as maintaince lifting, it keeps you muscles strong, but doesnt gain...... i had to lift ALOT of weight, with very small reps.. almost to the point of pain. then i started to gain my weight back very fast. i now can lift almost 3 times that i could when i did less weight/more reps, and im much stronger.
I suggest you Do what my nutrionist said to do for me...
do a quick But VERY intense workout. 15-20 minutes of Hard weight. lift reps of 6- 10 and do this with weight that is hard to lift. Trust me, if you eat over 500 more than maintinence and do this every other day, you will see massive results and very quickly. since i started doing this, ive gained roughly a pound a week, most of which is probably muscle.

See that's why I wouldn't gain any muscle weight. I'd been doing 50+ reps for my abs at 40 pounds and nothing. And I would vary the weights and reps with every other part of my body but do a ton of them.
I have one question though. How many sets should I do?

heh well bare with me, im not quite good with the lifting lingo. but all i know is i do 2-3 sets of 6-10 reps.
for no more than 20 minutes. make sure its very intense and even a bit tiring. just dont over do it or hurt your self, make sure you take a break every other day. ALso when you lift, make sure you do full reps and do them rather slowly, you have to shock your body into forming muscle. doing alot of reps and little weight simply burns calories.
all i know is its work well for me, ive gained weight.. while im possitive some of it is fat, im alright with that, its pretty much impossible to gain weight without some fat. Over all i just feel alot better.

This is the best advice I've gotten on gaining muscle weight.
It won't stunt my growth or anything? Not that I have much growing left to do anyway.

sorry to update an old thread, but firstly, no you wont stunt your growth by doing those workouts and secondly:
for ab workouts what do you do, i like the whole weight training advice, but i'd really like to have great abs aswell!
