I would like to be 142.5 and stay there for ever and ever Innocent

But my body has been about 20 pounds heavier than that for almost 5 years.

I don't think I would look right at 125. I like having some meat on my bones, but we all have different body types even at the same height!

Good luck!

Throughout my 20's and up until pregnancy at age 32, I easily and effortlessly maintained at 140.

125/130 was my teenage girl weight - highschool - before the female body becomes womanly and finishes all it's growing inside.  It is also an unhealthy BMI - only 19.

I'm 5'7 1/2 i'm currently at 136.5 but 125 is my goal too

it's been 4 years since i was that little and it will be just a few weeks before i'm there again. So exciting!

i am 5'7 and maintaining at 124/125 and by no means do i look unhealthy! am actually working on my 6 pack abs right now! i am getting lean muscle and it feels and looks good!

I am about 5/7 and half tall too, with a small body frame, and my goal weight is 125 as well.  However, I've been stuck on 130 for over a week now and I'm starting to freak out a little.  I used to weigh about 115, so 125 is still with some extra "meat" or fat on my bones to spare.  I think I've plateaued and don't know what to do, since you guys are similar to me - very close to an "ideal" weight, can you give me some advice on how to break these last few stubborn pounds? In the last week I've 1)drank lots of water (always for me anyway) 2) pushed myself more with exercise (starting running in intervals with walking, rather than solely walking) 3)more closely monitored calories -been around 1200 calories a day.  I've been wondering if 1200 was too little but I'm not starving myself.  I only get hungry if I eat supper too early and then it usually hits around bedtime.

I'm 5'7 and I'm 120/122 lb. My maintenance level is @ 1200 (and the only reason I keep track of my calories is because I eat much less than minimum level if I don't count). In my opinion, it all depends on your frame and bone structure. I have a small frame and I'm sure I don't look like a teenager (btw, when I was in high-school I was 103) so you should go strictly based on the assessment of your own body and not on someone's perception on "what is healthy and what is not". I beleive that your goal of 125 lb is absolutely fine as long as you provide your body with all the necessary nutrition.

I am maintaining between 1600 and 2000 cals a day. i work a desk job 8 to 9 hours a day 5 days a week and do 2 pilates classes a week. i would call myself lightly active. If you have hit a plateau (which i did around 130ish) i increased my calories after a binge of about 4 days of eating anything in site. initially there was an increase in the scale but then i was eating about 1600 average a day and the retention literally dropped off one day and the weight after that seemed to steadily come off...about 1/2lb a week...slow but still progress. you could just be eating too little.....i also knew that i needed to get my body used to more calories because there was absolutely NO WAY i could live the rest of my life eating 1200 cals but i can def do 1600 to2000. if you do decide to increase your cals for a few days to get your metabolism moving again, i suggest hiding the scale from yourself until you have a good couple days under your belt of eating at your increased maintenance level....

I'm 5'8" and my goal is 140. I was 125 in high school, 135 in college and looked fine but after my first child I reached 140.  Twenty something pounds later (ahem), I wear the weight well but hide from scales.  I recently went to the doctor and was so disappointed at what I saw that I decided to do something. I just started this calorie counting thing though and don't own a scale. So I need to figure out a way to see if I'm being effective. I like a little meat on the bones - just not on my midsection!

your goal weight sounds reasonable. whats ur stats?

i started at 153 lbs in august 2008. now i'm 116.5 lbs but i want to maintain 120 coz i feel weak. i'm also 5'7

Thanks for the advice,  kellymcfarling.
I can't believe how hard it is to make myself eat more calories. To think, a month ago it was hard to make sure I was eating a lot less, and now I have to FORCE myself to eat more.  I am definitely bad with the scale, weigh myself morning and night, I tell myself, just out of curiousity.  I went back and reviewed my calorie intake from 2 weeks ago and for about a week my daily average intake was around 1600 and I was doing moderate workouts  compared to what I've pushed myself to do this week (and last week). All last week I mostly had a 1200 a day calorie average and nothing really came off.  I will MAKE myself eat more, I just have a hard time wrapping myself around this concept. :P

Also, during your 4 days of binging, did you exercise any?  I also have a hard time taking a break for even a day, I feel like I just have to be as productive as possible, and why waste time, but do you think I should take a weekend off or something?  I'm an all or nothing attitude and exercise is a good reminder for why I shouldn't stuff my face with tons of junkfood.

hcannon,

when i binge it is usually a thurs, fri, sat, sun thing then i have to tell myself to get back on the wagon come monday morning. i do pilates EVERY wed religiously and have just started to pick up a monday class... but not doing it religiously yet.  so when i do binge....it is usually due to a work luncheon which ignites a hunger (literally) within me and i keep telling myself i will do better tomorrow. then tomorrow comes and i will do better the next day and so on. only does it stop when it comes to be monday morning and i am looking at my food journal going "WTF just happened!" so i try to not get back on the scale till around thurs/fri. i tooo weigh everytime i go into my bathroom but i dont obssess about the scale. i am just doing it to learn about the flucuations throughout the day and with certain foods!

i definately think you have a GREAT attitude towards exercise which means you are probably pretty active and therefore you are not giving your body enough calories to function if you are staying at 1200 and exercising as much as you do. i find that even with one to two 1 hour pilates mat classes and walking about 1 mile 2 to 3 days a week, i can comfortably eat around 1800 to 2000 cals and stay where i am. last night i got to 2,050 by eating 4 tagalongs before bed. my weigh in this morning...125.2. it is also the start of TTOM for me.... if your body is anything like mine, it will appreciate the extra calories and reward you greatly for them!

Kelly, that's funny, I used to do mostly the same thing on Thursday's, also thanks to my office's lunch meetings.  I've still been eating at these lunch meetings, I just prepare myself mentally a head of time to have something way healthier, as much as is possible.  I've only been this good for about 2 weeks now though.  Used to just go ahead and eat as much as I could of the worst possible foods on thursday. I considered it a "cheat day" but it was hard to be good on Friday, because that was only one day in between my other cheat day - sat. And then I found Sunday's to be hard, because I'm stuck at home or with family that is NOT watching what they eat.  There is something about Monday's that make me more religous about my diets.

I had a huge meal at Western Sizzlin last Friday night and I panicked a little thinking the next day I would weigh at least 5 lbs. more. I actually didn't weigh any more than the previous day, but not less.  But all last week I guess I was undereating, just with the exception of Friday night.  I'm hoping if I overall stick with a few more calories a day, my body will do like you say and just relax and let go of some fat!  Also, before my Friday night meal my body was finally feeling really fatigues I think - I felt like I was really weak and just wanted to lay down and nap.  I had a steak and some other fatty foods that night and then I felt a lot better.  I think that's my proof, how I felt before that meal, that I really should've been eating more caloires all last week.

Thanks again for your input!

thats all you can really do! listen to your body!!! It will tell you what it needs! Keep me updated on your progress! I was in your shoes not too long ago and i know how it feels! Best of Luck!

I'm 5'7" and I maintain at about 134/135.  Currently working on getting more muscle.

I am 5'7 and I do hard weight training 3 days a week and cardio on pretty much every other day. I work an office job and I am currently sitting at 124-127 lbs depending on the time of day, but my 'real weight' is probably about 123-124. To maintain I can eat around 1800-2400. Since I exercise plenty and eat well I don't really seem to gain significant amounts of weight.

At the moment I am in the process of shedding that thin layer of fat that is just barely concealing my muscularity. At my lowest weight I was about 114. Suffice to say, it wasn't attractive at all.

My advice work hard at your body every day regardless of your failures. You don't fail when you fall down. You fail when you stay down.

Love exercise. Love real food. (and by that I mean clean natural state foods). And change your mentality about weight loss. Don't make it an act of desperation. Make it an act of determination and that wonderful body will walk right into you.

By the way your bathing suit pic is gorgeous.
