Maintaining through the Holidays Group

Quote  |  Reply

I figured I'd start a group for people that want to support eachother through the Holidays, to hlep keep from gaining. I plan on trying to lose after the Holidays but for now my goal is to not gain any weight through January 1st, anyone with me?

We can weigh in on Mondays

We won't count anything between 1 and 4 lbs. (because we know how much our weight fluctuates anyway)

You can use whatever method you want, eating the same and exercising more or eating less and nto exercising. Anything that keeps you healthy and within 5 lbs of your present weight.

It's been a busy week, so I forgot to post on Monday, but my weight was 122.4.  That's only .2 above last week at the same time, so that's good.  My weight has been fluctuating a little, but no more than normal.  I think I might actually try to gain a little because yesterday at the gym I felt kind of flimsy.

Well, today marks the start of another weekend of holiday festivities.  Over the next 3 days, I have 4 holiday parties to attend, each with tons of food an alcohol, plus I'm meeting some friends for breakfast as a holiday tradition.  Too bad there's no such thing as healthy breakfast food at this place!  My strategy is to eat super healthy and low cal before the decadence begins, and to bring my own healthy treats as much as possible.  Like tonight, for example, I'm bringing raw veggies and hummus to the office holiday party.  Let's see if I can keep myself away from the apple pie!  And of course the real test will be the alcohol!!!

I'll be really lucky if I can stay focused on my health this weekend and somehow manage to drag my sad butt to the gym!

You can do it Pumpkin, you already have a good game plan all you have do now is just stick to it Laughing

Don't forget weigh-in day is monday so try not to bee too naughty on the weekend.

Hello, can I still join this?  I wasn't planning on joining any groups through december, because I knew I wouldn't be losing much, but this group seems perfect!  Last wednesday (before thanksgiving) I finally reached my goal weight of 125 (i'm 5'3")!  Then...since I had already planned this from the start...I ate a LOT on thanksgiving and didn't count at all...then it kind of carried over into the weekend of just eating maintenance (but counting it again).  So on Monday I was up to 127 almost.  Then Wednesday I was 125.8, so I think I will be able to get back down to the 125 before christmas even though there are so many holiday parties between now and then.  My work party is next week I think (or the week after?) and my husbands is the day before we drive home for christmas.  It's an 18 hour drive so I need to not eat terrible at that party because the next day will be a VERY sedentary day!  My plan has been to lose a couple extra pounds before our trip home so that I can afford to gain them back with all the cookies and egg nog, so maybe with this group, I can keep myself motivated through the little holiday parties (and the cookies people might bring in and leave in the kitchen at work).

I am weighing myself after work at the gym, so i'll log that in here afterwards.

Monday is our set weigh in day but it doesn't really matter as long as you stick to your weight.

Oh, I know...it'll be to see where I started...then I'll weigh in and log it here on Mondays.  I'm looking forward to this group helping me...since thanksgiving I feel like I've done really bad...i made cereal mix which didn't help, because the recipe makes a lot and i've been eating it way too much.

Well it's weigh in day and I'm tetering a lil closer to my max EEK Yell

Last week: 147

Today: 147.8

On a much better note I turned inmy Final paper for my psych class and my Statistics final is today. After today, no more school till JanuaryLaughing I'm gonna start gettin my butt back in the gym Tomorrow for sure.

Well today my weight was 136.5, which is basicaly water weight. I was 132.4, and 133 during the weekend.

UD

Well...today I weighed in at a shockingly high 125.4.  That's about 6 lbs more than last week, but it's still within 3 lbs of my goal of 123.  This is definintely on the high end of my normal range...but I'm not going to panic.  This weekend I at a ton of high-bulk foods and I think I'm just retaining water and feeling a little...bloated.  Plus I've been taking it easier on my workouts...

I'm gonna adjust, though.  I'm sure the extra weight is just a normal fluctuation, but it's not a trend I would like to see continue.

On the plus side, I had an easy time monitoring my food this weekend because I was a total party pooper!  I felt crummy, so I skipped out on a couple of the parties.  My only indulgences this weekend were a beer, a snickerdoodle (YUM!!!!) and half a molasses cookie.  Not frickin' bad, if I do say so myself.  Oh, and yesterday I practiced making an apple pumpkin crisp for when my parents visit, but even though I ate a ton of it, it was very nutrirtious and shockingly low cal, so I won't call that an indulgence.  Also, I figured out how to make super-healthy vegan nog, so that will definitely help me get through the holidays with my girlish figure intact.

I love it when the holidays are festive, delicious, AND healthy!

Ya gotta make sure you're drinkin your water, I HATE water retention.

I weighed in at 125.4 so I'm doing good.  I ate a lot of cookies at a christmas party yesterday but fit them into my calorie limit for the day, so although my nutrition was bad yesterday, i didn't gain from those cookies (so far).  Next christmas party isn't until next tuesday as far as i know.  I have been feeling kind of bad about my eating habits lately...too many bad-for-me foods...i need to work on that.

pumpkin314:  is your egg nog tasty?  Low cal?  I love egg nog but am afraid i'll have to stay away from it from now on because it's so high in calories...

I actually lost a pound on thanksgiving, but I managed to gain it back that Friday (Free Friday - I'm a calorie cycler), so it all evened out. Now I really think I can get through Christmas remotely watching what I eat. I'll be in this time :)

current weight is 128.. I haven't been eating the best,, trying to work on that and up the work outs,

I hope to be down a few pounds next week

I weighed in at 139.1lbs. I seriously thought i would be more because i ate um.... 10 biscuits on Sunday lol. They were so yum. They had coconut icing and blueberries in them, but they were so worth the 600 calories though.

I think the reason why i only gained 0.5lb is because A) i went for a 45min power walk B) i did a bit of house cleaning C) i didn't go over my calorie limit and D) i drank tons of water.

But i honestly don't regret them. I sat down, told myself that if i was going to eat them i couldn't beat myself up about it. So i was in a good frame of mind. I ate until i was full, not sick (ok so i probably didn't need the last 2-3 but hey lol) and i made myself continue to eat for the rest of the day. I did skip my nightly snack and only used 300cal for dinner (still got fish and veggies though) but i made sure i didn't stop eating.

Pumpkin: what is an apple pumpkin crisp? Do you have a recipe because it sounds really yum and if it's low in cal..then thats awesome.

Hey all...

My weight was up again today!  I think I need to really drink more water (not diet soda, which I live on) to flush myself out!

I wanted to post about my cooking endeavours, since a couple of you asked.  As far as the nog goes, I think it's pretty tasty, and my omnivore husband liked it a lot, but the tofu gives it a little bit of a chalky taste, so there's my warning.  To make it, take 1 large pkg of light silken tofu (1 lb, 150 calories), 2 cups of milk/non-dairy milk (I used almond dream, 100 cals for 2 cups), 2 TBS vanilla extract, 1/2 cup granular splenda (yes, I use chemical-y sugar substitutes!), and however much you like of each ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.  All you have to do is blend it all together.  You get a nice big pitcher of nog and it is REALLY nutritious and low-cal.

As far as the pumpkin apple crisp, I started with this recipe but I used splenda in place of sugar.  I have been trying to work out a "crisp" topping made from quick oats, splenda, spices, and sugar free maple syrup, but my first attempt was a little too oatmeal-y and not enough crisp-y.  I think I need to just break down and add some margarine.  Any hints would be appreciated :)

I'm going to spend this week trying to level out my weight again.  Luckily, I don't really have any crazy festive obligations this week and I can catch my breath!

So...

I tried to post yesterday for my weekly weigh-in, but the website was being disagreeable.  My weight was 120.8...so back down to the lower end of my range.  This week is the last week of work, and on Saturday my in-laws arrive.  I am SO not ready, but I get along with them and I'm excited.  I have a lot of cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc. to do before then, and that will be tough because I'm already going to be busy trying to get all my work done before I take off for the year.

Happy holidays!!!

For some reason I couldn't log in yesterday either weird.

Any who here is my late weigh-in

Last week: 147.8

This week: 147.8

124.8 for me this week.  Did a 3.4 mile christmas run last night.  It took me and my friend 36 min and 50 sec.  We walked a little each time around the route (whenever we got to the big hill) but my legs are really burning today from the whole thing.  It was convenient because the run turned out to be on the same day as my work christmas party (it was at lunch time and I couldn't even count everything I ate...I had small portions of a lot of the different foods, so I estimated it to be about 1000 cals).

The day after tomorrow my husbad and I are driving home (from Louisiana to PA) for the week of christmas, so I know that'll be the time my weight will go up a few pounds.

Maybe it won't fluctuate since you've been doing so well. Dress warm.

127 on Monday , but have been baking cookies all week,  I have been sampling my goods.

Hope it doesn't stick. lol.

Good Luck to all!

Remember we have come too  far to let it go back!
