Actually, 140 is my target, but it sounds so much better to say "under 140".  Anyway, I've lost about 50 lbs. over the last 2.5 years, which wasn't all that hard.  Seems like maintaining is harder.  Maybe we can share strategies/experiences with this.

me again, i have a question, if i have my account set to maintain, and activity as sedentary and then log any excercise, my burn meter then goes up, shouldnt the eat meter go up too since im set for maintenance?

wouldnt one want to eat their burn to maintain?

Agru:  Hi!  I was just curious about the whole kosher thing... I was interested in the slaughtering thing because I don't really like to eat meat and hate thinking about the whole slaughtering thing... just thought it was nice if jewish people have "rules" about how it was done, etc.  I don't know, lol.  Not sure how you keep it all straight, just sounds a bit confusing, but I'm sure you get used to it all.  ;)

The ice cream you got sounds AMAZING!!!  I'm practically drooling over here!  lol  I want to buy some, but I'm afraid I'll eat it all at once!   Enjoy it!

As for your burn meter question:  I am by no means an expert on that, but I'll try to help...  My opinion is that if it's set to Sedentary and you want to maintain, YES, I'd think you should eat back any calories you burn... but, I'm not completely sure on that.  I never log any of my exercise, just my food.  Not sure if I help at all...  sorry!

k9- HMM, YEA, THATS WHAT I THOUGHT, THAT TO MAINTAIN YOUD EAT WHAT HAS BEEN BURNT BU-ahh, sorry!!! didnt mean caps!! lol

so i meant, shouldnt the eat meter goal go up or something?  maybe ill ask on the calorie count forum.

i dont keep the kosher thing out of the house, i LOVE seafood and ham, lol but yea, i know all the rules and whatever.

agru, still sick?!  geez!  that really sucks!  nope, it's not fair.  nah, i did reach that new, lower weight, but that's not it.  sometimes i just feel like letting loose.  that's the whole thing, with me.  this is a lifestyle & mine has days where i just give in to candy & sweets or whatever.  then i behave again.  :D

congrats on the jog & being able to eat again!  your eat meter gets set by you, not CC.  just click to edit your preferences & change it to whatever you want.  yeah, you should eat what you burn.  i don't even change my eat meter anymore.  i just look at the burn meter & that tells me how much i can eat.  i finally upped mine up to light, too.  it's always been sedentary, but i figure i burn alot at work.

panda paws is either vanilla, chocolate or cherry ice cream with little chocolate covered peanut butter pieces that look like panda paws.  i like the vanilla the best.  it's soooooo good!

sugar babies?  OMG!!!  they are these little tiny pieces of chewy, caramel candy with a caramel coating on them, all sugar.  LOL  they stick to your teeth when you try to chew them.  did you ever have a sugar daddy?  where do you live again?  geez, i should send you some sugar babies & a sugar daddy.  a sugar daddy is a kind of hard caramel sucker that takes forever to eat.  you can keep sucking on it & twisting it & stuff & it gets softer so you can actually eat it.  that sticks to your teeth, too.  :D  yeah, they're so bad for you...

yeah k9, but like i'll click to start the long one that's 45 minutes & then i'll either just keep on going OR quit whenever i want.  it still logs your time, calories, etc.  i've quit alot of times after 10 minutes.

i knew that would get to you!  ;)  willpower...  yeah, only when you really need it.  like me!  i don't really even like donuts unless they're cream filled & chocolate covered.  i hate it when you buy one & there's no cream in it!  been there, done that enough times.  grrr...

i'd rather have dessert than steak too!  lol

Thought I better check in after eating half a canoli for dessert tonight (after a 3 mile walk).   Pretty bad start to the week going out to lunch today for bar food.   Lots of bads lately got me all the way up to 132 this morning.  Might have to skip some lunches.   Big family picnic and a couple of restaurants over the weekend are keeping me in the 139 club.  Sticking to my 3 mile runs/walks and health club weight machines.  Hope the 4th doesn't do too much damage, especially with the motherinlaw staying over encouraging us to eat ("eat another cookie").

Did check the body fat meter again and down to 21.

Glad you are all well.  Have a great Fourth and don't eat too many ribs.

good morning :) big drop today, lowest in a while, 143.6. So, you guys were right ;) just had to hold on for another day. I ended up around 1300 yesterday but NO exercise, so even though it's a little low, it's only a 400 cal defecit.

I got my weight-lifting in this morning and wasy very pleased with that. If I get home from class early tonight, I'll jump on the elliptical. I did not do the new routine for weights though b/c it would take about an hour and I don't have that much time in the AM. Ah well.. one day :)

other random news, I got invited to a client meet n'greet happy hour in 2 weeks held by a previous teacher and now she owns her own court reporting firm. I'm pretty excited about the networking opportunity! Plus, she wrote me a great letter of reccomendation to put in my career portfolio. Score!

pilgrim - I'm glad you're finding foods that fit into your cal range and you can really enjoy :) that's always a good thing! Man, my b/f and I love hiking... When we get married we'd like to go on a backpacking trip for our honeymoon.. that'd be sweet! I hope you're right about losing the 5 lbs :) the food network is fun to watch! such yummy things on there :)

Chris - mmm.. I love tostitos, too. My best friend makes this radical black bean dip... so good! looks like you were right about the gaining issue, hopefully my body will keep it up with the dropping.. only time will tell! I used to love sugar babies when I was a kid! favorite candy ever! I haven't had those in like 10 years! lol!

agru - I'm glad you are finally feeling better :) And, you're right, also. They are just numbers. I still feel pretty good, clothes fit the same. It's just a mental game, ya know? lol. I have no idea how to link, lol. But I was thinking about doing the total body superset weight lifting in the exercise section. not enough time in the day, though. lol! I think w/weight lifting days, I'll aim for 1500, cardio days, 1700. I really don't use this website for tracking, if you can believe it. Just the support :) lol!

Karey - yeah, I never do usually stess about it. I mean, I'd like to weigh a little less, but it's not a huge priority. If it happens, it happens, if not, it doesn't. lol. I'm pretty laid back about the whole thing :) nice job on the jog! enjoy the night out!! I thought I was estimating correctly. Feel free to double-check my counts for me :) lol!

Jerry - good luck with the 4th :) That's a huge eatfest holiday.. I'm sure you'll be fine though!

I'm going to my best friend's for the fourth and I think she's on a diet so she'll be making grilled chicken. Now, we'll still have tons of snacks and goodies, but hopefully I can keep it under control. Maybe we could walk to see the fireworks. :)

here's my day!

bfast - 2 eggs (175, I add milk) edamame (50) plain toast (80) coffee (75)
snack - peach (80)
lunch - salad with grilled chicken (150, 2 strips) and light balsamic (100?) and cheese (25, not a lot) and olives (50, a lot, lol!)
snack - apple (80)
dinner - pb & j (300) and pretzels (110)

so, what, 1275 for the day? That's a little low so maybe I'll have a snack when I get home from school, also. Just don't know what.. we don't have a lot to eat in our apartment... lol. I'll figure something out :) maybe I'll make homemade popcorn!! mmm... that'd be about 200 cals to snack on a little....

talk to you all soon! have a great, healthy day!

pilgrim, yep!  LOL  everyone should have my attitude.  hehe  you need to just chill out.  losing, maintaining, exercise, eating healthier will eventually come naturally.  nobody should eat ONLY healthy.  personally, i think that should be labelled as having an ED.  the more you exercise, the more you'll want to exercise.  the same with eating healthier.

i love it!  i only wish i had done this when i was younger.  i always thought i would have to give up the foods i love & it ain't like that at all.  :D  geez, i had 4 (well, at least 4...) servings of ice cream for breakfast.  i went out & bought some panda paws this morning.  at least i didn't buy any frosting!  ;)  not yet...

my day will be fine, though, and well balanced.  oh!  then i did 2 workouts with bob from the biggest loser, then i walked but it started raining again, so went on the gazelle (for about 10 minutes...  if even), & did a few more exercises.  in total, it was one hour & 46 minutes & i only burned 556, that's because it was mostly light activity.

you should get out to that party with your nephew.  you need to be around food forever anyway.  just try to make better decisions than you used to.  LOL  hubby LOVES watching food on tv!

that's awesome!  you lost 4 pounds?!  yard work burns alot of calories!  :D  i hope you get that 2 miles in with your monitor today.  that's not so bad.  what does it take?  1/2 hour?  when we go to gatlinburg, i'm sure i'll want to hike in the mountains, but nobody else will.  i'll probably just walk around where we're staying or whatever.

morton, all the way up to 132?!  what were you?  did you hit 128 & not tell us?  hehe  you know i did...  131 today.  i'm sure i have way more body fat than you, though.  i've been eating alot, but exercising alot, too.  1/2 a canoli, geez, i'd have probably ate 3 of them.

krrpt, i used to do that, lose weight when i didn't even exercise the day before.  it's a good sign!  it shows that you're tricking your body.  you need to keep it guessing & have it expect to exercise every day, so it'll burn more calories whether you exercise or not.  ;)  good luck getting that new routine in one of these days.  congrats on that meeting in 2 weeks!  WooHoo!!!

i saw a commercial for tostitos last night & it was about how they only have 3 ingredients in it.  it kind of made them sound good for you.  LOL  well, better than the others.  the lime ones have more ingredients, though, for the lime flavor.  yeah, i just checked.  don't even buy sugar babies!  you might get hooked on them again.  or just buy a small bag.  that's funny, i don't use the site to track anymore, either.  i just hang around for the company.  :D

i have to work from 1 - 9 on the 4th, so i don't have to worry much about the parties.  :(  i'd rather go pig out somewhere!  then, on the 5th, we leave for vacation!!!  WooHoo!!!  i'll probably be 140 when i get back...  (at least!)  i'll try to behave myself, though.

hi guys!  today started out crummy, same as has been but the weather was nice till the afternoon and then we had huge huge storms which i love to watch!  my friend invited me to her firend's bf's house for the 4th of july so itll be all ppl i dont know, should be fun, i hope!!  i go back to work tomm, so sad, i havent been able to sleep the last 2 nights so i really hope im ok tonight!!

did a new weight routine that i found at about.com, i altered a bit and i use 10lb weights, no idea what ur "supposed" to use.  hmm, how do ppl calculate a dumbell/toning/pushup type of routine?

SNOW- i LOVE ur attitude!! yea, ill just go by the burn meter which is set to maintennace bc even when i do a 20 min WO it doesnt come out to what "lightly active" would be, i suck!!  youre moderate active id think, not light! i saw the sugar babies at the store yesterday, a lot of bang for the caloric buck!!  never had sugar daddy either but i love these names lol. what time do u get up??  11:30 and uve done so much!! eating only "healthy foods" is an ED, its called orthorexia and a lot of the ppl on the weight gain board and this site have it i think.

PILGRIM- hi, glad to hear ur blister is getting better!  where r u from?  do u work or r u retired?3 miles walks, wow, thatd take me forever!!!

KRRPT-i dont track my food but im getting curious as to how much i burn in excercise, how do u guesstimate weight lifting?  i only use 10lb weights, eek!!  i do get sweaty and out of breath tho!  i found a routine on about.com but im not sure which ur talking about? ahh, im going to some guys house for the 4th, deff NO good choices there!!  eek, hope u added some stuff to ur day's menu!!

today-

B: bowl of cereal w/ milk, vanilla greek yogurt, big apple ~ 430

L: roll spread w/ fig preserve, slice edam cheese, lettuce+tomato, cup pf blueberry yogurt, bowl of strawberries+grapes ~400

S: (awesomeness!!) Edys toll house mint brownie ice cream w/ chocolate PB melted ontop ~220

D: spaghetti squash w/ veggie meatballs+tomato sauce, veg salad, berries+grapes ~350

S: apple, yogurt, trail mix ~300

So there is just no possible way i can catch up on 63 posts! So I'm just gonna say hi and start anew!

My boards were friday and I have pretty much been a drunken mess since then. The exams went okay, but I wont know my score for 6 weeks. It was the longest most tedious 8 hours and 20 minutes of my life....i REALLY hope I passed and dont have to go through that again.

I stopped working out the last 2 weeks bc everything got to stressful, btu I have been back at it. Quick summary:

Sat: 20 mile bike ride- breakfast: cereal, lunch: cereal, dinner: italian out with the fam. Went to NYC for "the night" and ended up staying till monday.  LOOOOOTS of drinks.

Sun: all you can drink brunch. I ate about a pancake and a half and 2 mini muffins.  I drank about 7 peach bellinis, 1 margarita, and lotttts of shots (was there the WHOLE time 11-6-my friends the bartender) then got sushi and another bottle of wine, went to a bar to play beer pong and had nachos. VERY HEALTHY DAY :)

Mon: fruit smoothie (best hangover cure), BEACH, clam shack for lunch (cajun swordfish, some onion rings, 3 shrimp cocktail) then remembered I had a race to run as I see all these people pulling up to the beach Im at. Rush my friend to the train station (she had to go home to nyc), luckily had sneakers in the car...run my best 5k ever (24:28)...free beer post race (very healthy dinenr of miller lite and pretzels and choc. cookies)

Today: ran 6 miles (also a good hangove cure), mediterranean tuna on ciabatta (local delish panera-esque place), golden delicious apple, some soy nuts, a kashi frozen meal with some homeade pea soup.  Oh and a long walk midday in town.

So thats my life in a nutshell these past few days!!! Thursday night I am going to fire island for another night of craziness, then this weekend is my step borthers wedding (lots of food and drink) then next wed i leave for vegas. SHEESH. my life is so fun and crazy right now. What a 180 from the boards!!! Oh and I also have school eveyrday 9-1. And I need to find an apt and move into NYC by august 1st. LOL Gotta live life while you can.

Missed you guys!

PS. 136 today

good morning :) dropped again to 142.8... so that's good! I got my exercise in this morning, elliptical. I did get some extra snacks in last night, an extra handful of pretzels and a small handful of trail mix. So it all worked out well!

Chris - yep, gotta keep the body guessing ;) Thursday I'm going for a bike ride and swim with my sister so I'm really excited about that! Saturday I won't have time to do anything but Sunday I'm going to plan on jogging in the park. I haven't done that in a long time! It's usually a 5-mile trip so that should be nice. isn't it funny how so many companies are advertising "healthier" options?? I was reading that some type of cracker had a label that said 33% less saturated fat than the regular... welll, there's only 3 grams of sat fat in the regular, so the "reduced fat" still has 2 grams of sat fat! lol!! so ridiculous... countdown for vacation!! so exciting!!!

agru - I love storms too :) as far as weights, you are supposed to use as heavy as you can lift, I think being able to lift it to the point of exhaustion at least 6 times, 3 sets. So, if you can lift your ten lb weights 6 times, and cannot imagine pushing out a 7th, you're good :) if you can pump out 10-15 reps without a problem, move up a weight set to 12's or 15's. I lift for about 30 minutes and I just say 100 cals burned. Weight lifting doesn't burn a lot during the activity, but your muscles burn much, much more throughout the day.

sealion - I'm glad to hear the exam went well!! NYC sounds like a great way to RELAAAAAXXXXX! ;) and that's awesome that you could let loose so much, must have been so much fun!! pretty funny story about your forgotten race.. good thing it was the best time ever, I don't know how you did that with a hangover! Now I really have no excuse for not wanting to jog 5 miles this Sunday :) sounds like you are doing incredibly awesome! CONGRATS!!!

pilgrim - don't leave!!!!! I don't think anyone cares :) I don't even thing there is another maintenance-type group that is this supportive :) so, stay! we like having you around! sounds like you had a nice long walk! how wonderful :)  I'm very much looking forward to backpacking for a week. We already have all the stuff we need (except food) so now we need to get all of the pre-stuff out of the way. lol!! Paula Dean is the worst though... The amount of butter she uses is slightly nauseating!!

here's my day:
bfast - 2 leftover pancakes w/syrup (500) coffee (75)
snack - peach (80)
lunch - salad with grilled chicken and light balsamic dressing (50+150+125)
snack - apple (80)
dinner pb&j (300) and pretzels (125)

so... 1485? I'll probably snack a little later today. I do have a granola bar so if we pretend I'm eating that, it adds 100 cals to the mix. not too shabby :)

have a great day everyone!!

agru, i hope work goes good for you.  what a bummer, having to go back.  i just use whatever weights are comfortable.  if they're too heavy, i won't want to pick 'em up.  hehe  i only use 5 pounders & i don't even use them alot.  i have 8, 15 & 20 though.  well, 15 & 20 are hubby's, but LOL  like he'll ever use them...  i guess they're mine now.  congrats on that new routine!

i usually get up by 7, but sometimes i get up at 5:30.  i just can't help it.  i wish i could sleep longer, but i can't.  once i'm up, i'm up.  the moderate activity for me would be from adding my actual exercise, though.  i just figure 1700 for light & then add my exercise to that.  like today, another whopper!  LOL  i burned 795 today!  WooHoo!!!  i'm telling ya...  it's this darned HRM!  it just keeps me going.  i still need to get 15 minutes of medium exercise in for the week, but i don't even care.  i've already earned my trophy.  :D

then ang gave me a huge cookie!  LOL  it figures...  & i had a whole bunch of honeydew.  i'm not sure what i'm gonna eat yet.  i'll probably start off with PB again.  i had a whopper & fries yesterday when hubby met me for lunch.

wow!  eating too healthy IS an ED?!  i knew it should be!!!  you need to have a good balance.  that's all.  i bought 2 sugar daddys, but i'm saving them for our trip.  it's a good 12 hour drive.

sealion, 6 weeks?!  OMG!  you won't know your score for 6 weeks?!  wow...  that's forever...  at least you're living it up while you're waiting.  :D  enjoy!!!

pilgrim, oh don't worry about me.  hehe  i'll never behave myself too much.  but you know how healthy it is to exercise & how good it is for you, so i guess what i meant is you push yourself to do more.  i dunno.  i hate exercise, but i love it, too.  i love how it gives me more energy & stuff.

OMG!  NO!  don't go!!!  we love having you here!!!  you rock!!!  :D  don't worry about the title for this thread.  geez, who cares what that says...  just stay with us, please?!  we don't care what you weigh.  we're friends, aren't we?!

krrpt, 142, awesome!  yeah, it drives me crazy how they try to call stuff healthy when it's not.  oh well, i'll still eat it.  :D  i'll eat it all!  in moderation, of course.  i'm still thinking what i want to eat.  maybe i'll have some hot pockets while i think about it...  and more PB m&ms.  i've earned 'em...

k9?  *waves to her*  ;)

Hi guys!!!

Wow, I am waaay behind on the posts!!  I have a KILLER headache right now (totm), so I'm just gonna be quick... I did see the last couple though.  ;)

Sealion:  HI!!!  We've missed you!!  I thought of you and your test on Friday and I'm glad you've gotten through it all.  Sounds like you had a blast relieving all of that stress!!  ;)

Pilgrimdude:  NO, DON'T LEAVE!!  We like having you here!  You're a great contributor and also give us great support too!  :)

Stacey:  Hope you're sleeping better!

Snow:  *waves*  Hope you're behaving yourself!  ;)  Bet you're excited for your vacation!

Morton:  Why only half a canoli?  Great job on the 3 miles!

Agru:  Hope work is going well.  Good job on the new weight routine!

My in-laws flew back home on Tuesday morning, so I've been back to my healthy eating yesterday and today.  Been doing well and getting some running in.  Was so mad last night during my run, my HRM stopped showing my heartrate (batteries were low) and it was extremely frustrating now knowing what my HR was and how many calories I burned.  I'm addicted to my HRM... not having it drives me crazy, so of course I got some new batteries and it's all better now.  :)  Too much food with the family and now totm... feeling like a very fat and bloated pig.  Yuck!

thanks for staying, pilgrim.  you're awesome & you add alot to the group.  you help us, too!  :D

gee, exercise?  i really don't do all that much except for walk, but when i walk, i do twists, stretches & stuff.  LOL  anything to keep my HR up!  i did bob 2 days in a row.  hehe  does that count?

i think now that i don't have a treadmill anymore, i'm gonna start using my gazelle, weights more & doing workouts from tv or dvds.  maybe get back to crunches, leg lifts, squats, lunges, pushups, stretches, twists...  i really should start working on my midsection anyway.  ;)  we don't have a pool anymore, or i'd be in there all the time.  like today, it's raining again, so i'll have to do stuff inside.

i dunno.  i don't really have favorites, i don't think.  well, yeah i do!  walking, because it's the easiest.  :D  the other stuff, i do it, but it's pretty rare.  vacuuming?  geez, i guess it's been awhile...  LOL  i'm with you, a nice 3.5 walk is great & i like to walk downtown & go up & down all the stairs that i pass.

k9!  lol  i knew you were there...  somewhere.  yeah!  i'm so excited i can't hardly stand it!  i still have to work friday & saturday before the trip, but i'm off today.  i guess hubby & the girls will go to the family picnic on the 4th without me.  bummer!  i'll be working til 9 & he's only working til 4.  we're having a cookout at work, though.

did you change them batteries yourself?  was it on the watch, the transmitter?  or both?  i wonder how long mine will last.  yeah, that HRM really keeps me going.  i would do way less without it.  i still love that polar FA20, though.  hehe  i don't think i'd work so hard with it, but i would stay active, that's for sure.

too much food AND ttom?  LOL  yeah, ttom alone is bad enough.

i wonder what's for lunch today...  probably nothing good...  hubby is working til 7!  he's always only worked til 2, 3 or 4 & now he has 2 days a week where he works til 7.  this is his 2nd day of that.  i'm sure gonna miss him, but maybe i can get some good exercise in.  :D

good morning :) weight is 143.6 and that really isn't too shabby since I was eating popcorn and drinking a few beers last night after class! Stayed up watching "Blood Diamonds"; good movie!

no workout this morning b/c I didn't get to bed till 11. I have the day off tomorrow so I'll be lifting tomorrow. :)

Chris - I definitely keep a good balance of healthy and unhealthy, lol. Usually unhealthy comes on the weekends, healthy all week.

pilgrim - we definitely appreciate your input :) glad you're going to stick around!

Karey - I am definitely sleeping better and it has gotten TONS easier for me to wake up and workout :) so that's exciting! I have a 3-day weekend so it may be rough come Monday, but I also have a break from school for two weeks. So, wost-case scenario I'll workout at night for a week or so :) I'm glad you had a good time with the in-laws!!!

least favorite exercise - running... without a doubt. I hate it. I'm heavier up top so it's pretty hard to get a support system for that and I just don't like it. It's boring to me. I will ONLY jog in a park anymore. More to see :)

favorite exercise - biking, hiking, roller blading, swimming, lifting weights, walking, elliptical while watching TV... pretty much anything but running ;) unless it's from a bear... LOL!!

woah.. ttom out of left field. ah well. lol! no symptoms at all so that's kind of nice.

my day:
bfast - cereal (150+75 for milk) pb toast (125), coffee (100)
snack - peach (80)
lunch - b/f got me a quizno's sub :) (400?)
snack - apple (60)
dinner - not sure. I'll be eating at my sister's house :) I'll count 500 for dinner

so... 1490 for the day? Not bad.. if it stops raining we'll be swimming so that'll probably burn about 200 cals. I'd be happy with that :)
