Actually, 140 is my target, but it sounds so much better to say "under 140".  Anyway, I've lost about 50 lbs. over the last 2.5 years, which wasn't all that hard.  Seems like maintaining is harder.  Maybe we can share strategies/experiences with this.

krrpt,  143 is cool  :D  wow, beers & a movie?  that's pretty awesome then.  i noticed that when losing sometimes i'd gain from drinking & sometimes i'd lose.  maybe it had to do with what i ate.  i dunno.  i never logged my drinking, though.

i haven't done anything yet today either.  it's raining, so i went & ran some errands.  then i went to kohls, but i didn't get anything.  i'm so proud!  LOL  i usually spend at least $50!  so far i had BBQ chips for breakfast, PB m&ms & double fiber bread with dark chocolate PB.  i don't think the day will get any better because i think i might just hit the ice cream now.  ;)  healthy will come later...  at least i haven't bought that frosting yet! or had that donut i've been wanting...  running is too hard for me!  LOL  i'll jog though, if i need to get my HR up.  running from a bear!  LOL

pilgrim, i'm totally NOT high energy just by nature.  all my life i enjoyed doing nothing.  seriously, nothing!  i loved doing nothing.  hehe  i'd love to just sit or lay around & watch movies or whatever.  i could hardly drag myself outside with the kids or up to do the dishes.

BUT with this new lifestyle, yep!!!  i am super energized.  i taught myself to be high energy & i love it.  i used to sleep late & go to bed early & now i stay up late & get up early.  :D  and now, i can hardly sit still to watch a movie.  i'd rather burn some calories!  it's awesome keeping that old metabolism up!  ;)

i know!  swimming is the best!  maybe i'll swim on vacation.  that'd be cool.  maybe i'll see a bear.  actually, there are bears around here lately!

i love how you track everything.  that's really cool.  i did that, too.  well, i had an awful lot of days that i didn't, because i just ate too much, so it didn't even matter.  i like to see them numbers bouncing around, too.  i used to lose 3 pounds overnight & now i mostly only lose 1 or 2.  it depends what i ate, i guess.  i don't drink water that much anymore.  i gotta up that again!  it's hard when i'm working, though.

maybe i'll hold off on the ice cream & do bob again today.  i wish it would stop raining!  grrr!!!

edited:  hey!  i just went for this super long walk with ang.  the sky was really dark to the north, but the sun was shining by us.  needless to say, we got rained on.  it was awesome, though.  :D

chinese buffet today & out to eat later with drinks...  oh!  ang joined this site a few days ago & just told me today.  she logged once & was done, but she might be back.  who knows.  hehe

Hi guys!

Pilgrimdude:  I'd have to say that my least favorite exercises are: inverted abdominal crunches (on the swiss ball - ouch!), squats & push-ups, weights.  Don't like much yard work etiher... mowing the lawn, weeding, raking...  My Favorites lately:  running (love the runner's high after), walking, boxing on the ACTIVE game, swimming, walking the dog...  Wow, that is quite the breakfast you had today!!

Snow:  A cookout at work sounds pretty good!  I'm off tomorrow, but I have to work on the 4th too... maybe we'll go check out some fireworks later that night, who knows.  Yeah, I changed the batteries in my HRM myself... it was in the transmitter part, not the watch.  It's the second time I've had to change them already... I think it takes #2025 batteries.  The HRM definitely keeps me going to, I go nuts w/out it.  lol  I Googled that Polar FA20... looks pretty neat.  What I've been thinking of getting lately is a Body Bugg... I bid on one on Ebay tonight, but didn't end up getting it.  I think it'd be really neat, but hubby thinks I'd look stupid wearing that thing around on my arm all the time... so, I'm still trying to decide... would look kind of stupid if I was wearing it out to dinner or something, lol.

Stacey:  I love the movie "Blood Diamond"!  I really like Leo, he's so good in it!  ;)  Glad to hear you're sleeping better!

Crazy busy day at work today and i am BEAT!!  My back is so sore from bending over and washing lots of big dogs today, lol.  I did some weights last night after my run, so it could be a little touchy from that too.  I tried one of the home strength training routines on about.com, not too bad, but I was being wussy and I need to up my weights some more.  I've been keeping my eating healthy and even turned down free ice cream at dinner tonight!  I'm so proud of that because I LOVE ice cream!  Just taking it easy tonight... took the dog for a half hour walk.  Planning on working out tomorrow morning... maybe some weights.

k9, inverted crunches?  ouch.  LOL  squats, pushups, weights?  i don't much do any of them.  i try to, when i can remember.  last night was kinda fun.  me & ang played with the weights a little & then she made her bf use the 20's!  when i say 'a little', i really mean a little.  i don't use them for very long, but i AM getting muscles.  i think that's from dragging that silly hose around at work, though.

yesterday was a horrible eating day for me.  oh well.  i don't care.  it's not like i do it all the time.  i have healthy on the brain.  really!  LOL  and that stupid scale...  i didn't gain 4 pounds overnight.  hehe  it doesn't even bother me & i'm sure i'm still digesting, too.  i walked an hour & 20 minutes today & burned 401 calories.

did i say ang talked me into buying a tennis racket?  yeah, i guess we'll be playing tennis now.  i dunno if she's gonna want to play after she sees how bad i am.  :D

how much is the body bugg?  that would be so cool, but i thought it was like $500 or something.  i never saw blood diamond.  it sounds like you're doing great!

pilgrim, it's all in the head.  i made myself change!  i was 218 & i 'knew' that if i would ever lose weight (which i totally thought would be impossible to do because every time i tried to lose, all i did was gain) i would just end up weighing even more.  that's what i did all my life.  i would diet & then gain back even more than i weighed in the 1st place.

so...  anyway, i came to the conclusion that the only way to lose weight would be to change my lifestyle (which i had always laughed at, when the doc kept telling me that i had to do - ME?!  LOL  no way...  & what for?!).  BUT i did it!  i told everyone that i was done being fat & i really was.  i'm done.  :D  i didn't know it at the time, but i think it helped alot to tell everyone that.

i knew then & still now, that exercise would be the key to a healthier me.  it's not just what you eat & all...  it's just balance.  AND exercise really IS the key!  look at all i eat!  LOL  it would be too easy for me to just stop exercising now, so i just make it a priority.

i've been through HELL with this family of mine, too.  at one point, i actually folded up my treadmill & cried.  i didn't use it for about a week & i secretly exercised, so as not to be 'in trouble' with them.  meanwhile, i pouted & moped around the house acting like i was done exercising to make them all happy, but hubby caught me a few times.  LOL  HUBBY is the one who actually made the phone call & made the plans to get me the new gazelle!  Woot!  Woot!

anyway, nobody picks on me anymore.  they are FINALLY used to the new me, AND my son, ang, ash, wendy AND jamie are all trying lose weight & be more like me!  :D  yeah, it's pretty awesome.  i wish hubby would join in...  they ALL see now how much happier i am when i exercise, and they realize now that i am happier being thin, too.  AND that i am staying thin whether they like it or not.  hehe

i have had so many problems with these people.  i was forbidden about a year ago to lose any more weight!  so i stayed around the same (142) for a while & eventually cried to hubby that it's just not right.  why do i have to be 142?  i wanted to be under 140 & 134 would be the best.  hehe  because it's under 135.  ;)  i finally fought it out with him & he agreed to 134 & even 132 if i accidentally lose more while trying to maintain.  :D  i've just been a little lower lately because i burn so much at work.

LOL  this is way too long, but thanks!  yep, i impress myself...  daily!  i know that it would be awesome to lay around & do nothing...  my FAVORITE activity!!!  but i know that would make me fat again & quickly.  so, i won't let myself do that.

i WILL bring my HRM on vacation, too.  i don't care if they like it or not.  i've kinda worked it out where i try to get my exercise in while everyone is still sleeping or gone somewhere.

silly me...  but i HAD to change my life.  i had no choice!  yeah, i'm proud.  :D

Hi!  I'm so excited, I just ordered a new "toy" online!  I bought a GoWear Fit!!  You're probably all wondering what the heck a GoWear Fit is, right?  Well, you may know what a BodyBugg is from the Biggest Loser... it's made by the same company and is very similar, but has the added benefit of measuring your sleep patterns.  So, it measures your calories burnt, steps, physical activity, and sleep efficiency.  Woot, woot!!  I was contemplating buying a BodyBugg (on sale for $250 right now), but came across the GoWear Fit and read lots of great reviews on it and I like that it measures your sleep efficiency too (since I often times have trouble sleeping).  It's supposed to arrive on Tuesday and I can hardly wait!  Aaaaah!!!

Pilgrimdude:  Good for you on lifting your weights (and enjoying it)... I really need to force myself to get back into the weights more.  I'd love to have one of those Everlast heavy bags, that'd be so much fun to beat and kick the crap out of it!  :)  That's weird that you had a major break in your leg, but never knew about it??  Odd.  That french toast sounds great!  I LOVE french toast!  I'll have to make it one of these days, but just like pancakes, I'm afraid I'll get carried away.  You should go with your wife to the 4th parties, it'd be fun for you!  It'll be a test to see if you can control yourself...  just don't completely deprive yourself though either.  I think I can relate to how you feel about your wife not exercising, etc. because I wish my hubby would exercise and want to walk/run with me too...

Snow:  That's good that you're getting some muscles... it'll help you burn more of those calories when you go out to the chinese buffet!  lol  Don't feel bad about yesterday being a horrible eating day, we all have them.  Today is not my greatest... hubby and I went out to lunch and had mexican... I tried to not be too bad though.  I got the wheat wrap and light sour cream, etc... After we went out for some italian ice... figured it was a bit better choice than ice cream, lol.  That italian ice was really good though!  I got Hawaiian and hubby got cherry.... he wouldn't try mine because it said it was weird, lol.  He's too funny sometimes...  ;)

I've been having a lazy day today... had a killer headache again and it makes me really cranky.  I didn't have to work today, so that was nice.  I have to work tomorrow and I'm told that the air is broken on that side of the building and it's about 80 degrees in there right now.  Ugh.  Can you imagine how hot I'm going to get running around and washing dogs, etc?  Don't think I can turn any of the heat on the dryers either... guess they'll have to air dry tomorrow.  Hope the guy comes early and gets it fixed soon!  I'll probably burn twice the calories since it'll be so hot, lol.  Well, it's probably finally starting to cool down a tiny bit outside... it's just after 7pm, so I may take the dog for a walk, do my weights, and then maybe do a quick run outside if it's still light out.  I was a bum this morning and didn't do my weights like I had wanted to, but I can still redeem myself.

Have a good 4th everyone!!!

dude, you liked that?  LOL  i think i got a little carried away.  i hate when i post long messages like that.  i figure people will probably think, there she goes again & they'll just skim 'em.  man!  i wish your wife would understand how totally possible this is.  i didn't give up ANY of my favorite foods, buffets, eating out or anything.

yeah, when trying to lose weight the biggest problem should be yourself, not your family.  LOL  i guess that made me stronger, eventually.  at first, i was like, 'ok, fine.'  but i was crushed!

you said it!  it's just all about eating a little less & exercising a little more.  :D  yep!  it's lifelong for me.  there's no reason to go back.

k9!  you got a gowear fit?  OMG!!!  i never even heard of it.  it sounds awesome.  how much was it?  i can only imagine how excited you are.  i want one!  LOL  i want everything!

don't get me wrong.  these muscles are really small, but they're there!  :D  it's really neat.  i've never had 'em before.  sometimes i flex 'em just to see, i guess, if they're still there.  hehe

that's gonna rot!  washing dogs with no air.  :(  today is my lazy day.  i didn't do anything yet & it's almost time to go to work already.

dude, that is so funny!  LOL  yeah, i sure know how that is.  the too skinny thing...  just take it as a compliment.  and you don't want to go to that party.  LOL  i was really mad yesterday because they had that BBQ at work & nobody even told me.  it was supposed to be today.  so now, hubby has my car & my son is dropping me off at work AND there's no BBQ.  i missed it.

i did end up finding the m&ms, reeses pieces & skittles & cookies.  :D  not really proud to say, but i had my share.  ;)  not a clue what i'm eating today.  i'll try to behave.  we'll see.  it should be easy.  no cookout, working til 9, no car...

happy 4th, guys!!!   :D

Happy 4th, guys!  :)

Where's Agurskin and Sealion lately??

Pilgrimdude:  I'll let you know how I like the GoWear Fit... I read lots of reviews on it before I bought it since it's not cheap.  Everyone seems to like it a lot for the most part.... out of 112 reviews on Amazon and a five star rating, it had an average of 4 stars, so not bad.  Yeah, you'd probably have a great time analyzing all the data and everything.  Sounds like you had a great time eating all that food and drinking that beer yesterday!  :)

Snow:  Sorry you missed out  on the BBQ!  I'm sure you'll make up for it somehow though!  Besides, you're going on vacation tomorrow, right!?  I'm so excited to get my GoWear Fit!  You should look it up... I got it on Amazon for about $180, free shipping, and the first 3 months of subscribing to the website for free.  :)  Check it out.  Yeah, washing dogs w/not air did rot!!  It was 85 degrees in there all day and I was dripping w/sweat!!  I bet I burned a TON of calories!  Have fun at work tonight!!

I'm done sweating my butt off at work, showered and am getting ready to go to dinner at Chilis.  Going there so I can behave and order off their Guiltless Grill menu.  Last time I got the Black Bean Burger and I hated it, but I'm going to try something else this time and give them another chance.  lol

Have a happy 4th!!

i know, dude!  they're so stupid that way.  they've had several 'parties' there while i was working that i never knew about.  i thought i had finally caught that one.  at least they had a truckload of donuts today & chips, ice cream sandwiches & stuff.

needless to say, i made up for yesterday.  ;)  what an idiot!  what was i thinking?!  i'm gonna be freakin' 140 soon if i keep this up AND vacation starts tomorrow.  i think i need a swift kick in the butt or something to knock some sense into me before it's too late.

OMG!  i can't even bring my scale with me!  what am i gonna do?!  i guess if i make it through this vacation without reaching 140, i should be able to quit weighing myself every day.  i dunno.  it's so scary...  i should set my HRM alarm to remind me daily to eat sensibly.  sure, i can have this & that, but chill...   there will always be more.  i hope i can do this.  i better be able to do this.  uggghhhh!!!

we got the car fixed.  $200 last week & $300 this week.  geez, i guess brakes are pretty important, especially in the mountains.  they let us leave at 8 tonight.  6 cans of beer?  LOL  must be nice...  ya know, them extra calories probably gave you extra energy & that's why you want to go riding.  :D  i hope you got that ride in!

k9, they're probably off, eating.  hehe  you need to wear the chest strap with that gowear fit, huh?  i'll have to look it up when i get a chance.  you need to subscribe to a website?!  i dunno if i like that...

you probably burned alot of calories washing them dogs in such heat!  that must've sucked, though.  enjoy your dinner!  :D

i'll probably be on tomorrow.  we're not leaving til late.  i'm so excited!!!  and scared...  hehe  i could bring my scale, but i'd have to hide it.  i already asked hubby if he's gonna be mad if i go walking on vacation & he said no, sooooo...  that's out of the way!  :D

happy 4th!!!  we're gonna watch fireworks from our yard.

Deleted by poster...posted in wrong thread.

Snow:  The GoWear Fit doesn't have a chest strap, you wear it around your upper left arm.  Yeah, you need to subscribe to a website that shows you all the data from it, but it sounds pretty neat.
Sounds like you definitely made up for missing the BBQ, lol.  Don't worry, you can stand to go up in weight a little, and I'm sure you won't be 140 when you get back.  REMEMBER - it's not just about the numbers, that's not a good and healthy way to think.  It's about being healthy, eating right, and exercising.  Leave your scale home, you'll be fine.  At least your hubby is fine w/you walking, so just take advantage of that.  Just try to enjoy yourself in moderation and think healthy thoughts.  ;)  When do you get back??  Have fun!!!  :)

Pilgrim:  Sounds like they had a lot of fattening,  unhealthy food at that party!  Be proud of yourself that you didn't go and resisted it all.  At least you ate healthy while at home!!  Good for you!

I also ate healthy yesterday... I had 1 cup of 1% no salt added cottage cheese w/some fresh pineapple for breakfast, a Luna Bar for a snack, Lunch was some Dannon Light & Fit vanilla yogurt and I added fresh chopped strawberries and a 1/2 cup of Fiber One cereal, plus I had a small salad of romaine and spinach w/light raspberry vinaigrette dressing and some cucumbers and a strawberry chopped up.  Afternoon snack was a Vitatop muffin and some baby carrots.  Dinner was the Cedar Plank Tilapia at Chilis w/ some broccoli.... it was really good!  After dinner I had some Lemon Sorbet at Baskin Robbins and my late snack was a PB and banana wrap and some fresh watermelon.  :)

Think I'm going to go do some weight lifting now...   Have a great day!!!

Hi everyone!!

long time no post!  hope everyone is well!  sort of got discouraged seeing some of the diminishing menus here so ive not posted... its a lifelong lifestyle, rt?

im doing pretty good, went to a july 4th party yesterday, was there all day/night.  walked over and saw the macys fireworks on the hudson river.  had beer, big italian sub, frosted cupcake, just relaxed.

SNOW-have a great time on vacation-ditch the scale!! seriosuly, bring a scale?? just have fun!

K9-Hi! i dont know much about the gofit, sleep pattern?  thatd be what id be interested in, how does it help w sleep?  weights, wooo, have a great time and a great day!!!

dude, i'm so glad that you are happy to have missed that party!  i was a little worried that you'd be feeling that you should've gone.  it sounds like you had a great time & great food & drink without them.  :D  yeah, i don't know how i keep this maintenance thing going.  LOL  i guess i make up for my bad days with good days & i just try to balance out my days, whether i do or not...  at least i try & i do always think about my choices.  hey, sometimes it's worth it & sometimes it's not.  ;)

you need to be able to say no, when the food is there, though.  you can't hide from it.  it'll always be there.  i think you're doing just fine, though, and it wasn't really the food.  you probably just didn't really want to go.

k9, no chest strap?  even more awesome!  i hate that thing...  yeah, well, i better not be over 140.  you know the mood i'll be in...  LOL  i know it's not just about the numbers, but if i come back at or even over 140, then i didn't live healthy while i was gone.  :(  i will.  i'll leave the stupid scale at home & worry about the damage later.  i'll try to think healthy thoughts.  i do anyway.  even when i'm eating PB m&ms.  :D  i'll be back on the 12th.  we'll have internet, but i don't know if i'll have the time to use it.  i'll probably make time.  hehe

now jamie probably can't go!  geez!  bryan & wendy aren't going & now jamie...  that sucks!  i wish we could've all been together, but whatever.  at least there'll be alot of relatives & i'm sure we'll have fun.

you guys suck, eating all this healthy food.  LOL  you just wait til i get back.  or maybe i'll have a chance to post.  i really think i can do this.  i need to just balance...  balance...  that's easy!  i do it all the time anyway.

good luck dude!  with eating better today and/or exercising more.

agru!  hey, it sure is good to see you!  :D  sorry we've been bad.  :(  yeah, we're trying!  it's NOT a diet.  it's a lifestyle & we're all bad now & then, but we have good days, too.  maybe i can post about what i'm eating.  only if i'm eating something good, though.

oh man!  i gotta pack, go to a party, do the dishes...  later guys!  i feel good about this now.  i think i can do it...  geez!  i can't even drop my scale for a week when i'm home & eating right...  i'm gonna do it.  i'm gonna.  i have to!  for me!  :D

Pilgrim:  Yeah, I've been pretty good w/my eating since the in-laws left.  I'm feeling SO much better, thinner, and just healthier.  I think I'm actually starting to see a hint of some abs!!  Yay!  Sorry you went overboard the last two days, but we all do every once in awhile, we're only human.  I don't know about the cutting back now though... usually I've seen that it's recommended to just put it behind you and move forward as normal.  If you try to deprive yourself you'll only end up binging.  If you do cut back, just do it minimally for a few days and bump up the exercise if you're feeling badly about it.  You'll be fine!  :)

Agru:  You came back!!! Yay!  :)  I totally agree w/the getting discouraged seeing the diminishing menus... It is a lifelong lifestyle.  It probably is a bit alarming for you to see things like that because of your background and past ED, so it may remind you of that and make you scared for others, right?
Yeah, can't wait to get the GoWear Fit and am really interested in seeing the sleep patterns too... I have trouble falling asleep sometimes and I think it'll help to see how much actual sleep I'm getting.  It's one of the reasons I picked this over the Body Bugg.  I'm so glad you let yourself eat some yummy stuff at that party and enjoyed yourself!

Snow:  We're gonna miss you!  You can totally do this and you better not bring that darn scale!  You can survive w/out it and hopefully this will help wean you away from feeling like you constantly need to weigh yourself.  Just trust yourself and think healthy thoughts... and have fun!!  :)

I finished a GREAT weight lifting workout this morning and feel really good!  Still keeping the food healthy and keeping active today cleaning the house.  :)

Pilgrim:  Yeah, I have to wear a chest strap too with my HRM... I hate that darn chest strap, so I'm glad the GoWear Fit just stays on my arm.  Great job on the bike exercise yesterday!

I got in a decent run outside this morning and then walked the dog for about 20 minutes.  Going to finish cleaning the house and run some errands, maybe go buy some fresh strawberries.  :)  I've got the day off today.
