Actually, 140 is my target, but it sounds so much better to say "under 140".  Anyway, I've lost about 50 lbs. over the last 2.5 years, which wasn't all that hard.  Seems like maintaining is harder.  Maybe we can share strategies/experiences with this.

morton, if you are skipping 1/2 sandwich at lunch i hope you are eating an orange or an apple instead & not just skipping lunch.  :D

First hi everyone

I have been in the 130s for a little while now 135 is my main goal weight... though sometimes looking at these boards makes it hard. Having a lot of girls 5'6" and 120 or lower. I sometimes think I should go lower to. My question is on days you seem to go over your limit do you lower your calories down some for a few days and how much to kind of recover from a bad day??? :)


How many days do you normally keep it up???

 

Sorry to ask this type of question in the 139 club just you guys are more around what I have been told is healthy and Id rather stay healthy.

snowfence~  Yeah, I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet, but sounds like you're doing great.  Keep up the good work, girl!  =)

Morton~  136 is great!  Like Snowfence said, I hope you're not entirely skipping your lunch... a half sandwhich is nothing, why not eat a whole one?  I hope you're eating other things with it at least.  ;)

Hopefultinkerbell~  Hi!  Congrats on making it into the 130's!  135 is also my main goal weight... I usually try to stay within a few lbs of that.  I do know what you mean about seeing those girls that are on the taller side and weigh so little.... kinda makes you question yourself sometimes.  I'm 5'7" and 134 lbs and I feel healthy.  I don't want to be just skin and bones, I want some muscle tone.  To answer your question: I don't go over my limit too often, but when I do, I don't stress over it... I usually just work out a little extra and make sure I eat really healthy the next day.  I don't typically restrict my calories the next day too much.  Drinking lots of water helps too.

Thanks for that information! Glad to see someone say the things you did. :) I'll try that... eating healthy the next day if I go a little over instead of hardly eating. :)

i would say the same as k9.  just try to eat healthy the next day or so.  not really limiting the calories, but maybe more exercise & lots of water.

k9, that is awesome!  exactly what i would say...  well, except for that part about not going over very often.  hehe  well, i try...

i finally told hubby that i gotta quit eating so much!  WooHoo!!!  i wonder how this will work out.  supposedly, he wants to start losing again now.  maybe i got to him?  i dunno.  i hope so, but he probably just wants to lose a few pounds before going to the doc next month.

k9, morton was skipping his lunch!  that's it.  lol  1/2 sandwich!  tell him he's gotta eat more.  :D  or at least something!

Morton~ Eat a sandwich!  LOL  Please, at least make sure you eat SOMETHING for lunch (and not just a soda, like my hubby does).  LOL  ;)  Just lookin out for ya!

Snowfence~  There, I told Morton to eat a sandwich, LOL!  ;)  Believe me, I have my bad days where I pig out on pizza and go over my calories too.  I'm just not stressing about it... doesn't seem to really catch up to me much as long as I eat healthy most of the time and only be naughty occasionally.  Good for you - standing up to your hubby!  I'm glad he wants to lose some, that should make things a bit easier on you too. 

Well, I am still sick!  Blah!  I keep coughing and sniffling all day long (and night).  Can't seem to shake it! 

Weighed myself this morning and I've lost weight from being sick... 131.6!  I was amazed... I haven't worked out since Thursday because I've been so sick.  Thought I would have put on a few lbs sitting around.  I've been eating really healthy though.  Today, I just don't feel like eating though... not hungry.  Struggling to get my calories in because I know I should.  My body needs the nourishment to fight this off right now.  Nothing tastes good...  *sigh*

Didn't mean to alarm you Snow, but it is only 2 days a week when I skip the 1/2 sandwich.  And that is to avoid running on a full stomach.  I do eat a 1/2 bagel with cream cheese mid morning at work and eat a few handfuls of chex mix several times a day.  The other 3 days I usually go home for lunch with the wife (a whole sardine sandwich yesterday).  On those days she is home, we take a 1 hour walk.  Eat a lot of fruit every night after dinner, but it might be a good idea to have some fruit to go with the bagel.  It's kind of frustrating to eat so little just to maintain.   

Welcome Tink!  Hope we can help you get through the holidays without gaining too much.  Kind of hard to avoid all the cake and cookies.

I hope to get by with out a real big gain. I know I want to enjoy the bake goods. I'm not the type to pass up the yummies. But I would like to be able to say no when I am full. I can always get some later. I just don't want to feel like my stomach is about to explode half way through the day.

Have 3 places to go... that's the hard part.

I think my focus this year is eat until my tummy says i'm good wait for a while if I want something else fine but I need to learn that I can shove a year full of cakes and cookies in one day. Bad habits are hard to break. :)

But boy do I love CHRISTMAS!!! To many ppl I know bake yummy stuff though. I will enjoy the company over the food! Well I sure will try lol

Morton, it doesn't sound like you eat very much.  Have you tried eating more?  Do you gain if you do? 

I love x-mas too... especially all of the baked goods.  I really pigged out on all the junk last year, so I'm trying to be really good this year.  People have been sending all kinds of goodies to work already and every year we get a TON of sweets sent in.  Today, someone sent us fancy candied apples, some covered in chocolate chips, some in nuts, ect.  I didn't go near them.  I also avoided the death by chocolate cake, even though I thought of having just a taste, but if I did that I'd probably want more, lol.  Better to just leave it alone.  I'll try and stick with my No Pudge brownies.  ;)

Yeah I'm going to try hard to keep that day to atleast a min of 2-3 days. We have a small party at our house next weekend so eggnog and other sweets might be there. But my bf already said we don't have to have 20 different cookies or other treats... plus he's sweet he wouldn't make me eat anything I didn't want to. Plus he also looks out for me making sure others don't try to shove them down my throat lol some ppl love to do that.

thanks for telling morton to behave, k9.  he's too skinny & he knows it.  he'll eat a little more at parties or something, but no...  he doesn't eat much.

sorry morton.  :D  i really DO worry about you.  make sure that you try to get in at least 5 servings of fruits & veges a day, too.  don't worry so much about your weight.  you are NOT gonna gain it back!  you have done an awesome job & you should be really proud of yourself.  i am really proud of what you've done!  you need to eat more now, though, and maintain more like a normal person. 

i know it's hard for you & you are happy at 134, but just add a little bit at a time.  it really IS better for you to eat more, & like i said...  you won't gain any weight from it. 

hubby is being good again today!  :D  maybe this will last!  and yeah...  things should be alot easier for me then.  WooHoo!!!  finally...

i'm so sorry to hear that you are sick.  that sucks!  i can't believe you lost weight from being sick.  lol  when i'm sick, i just keep eating.  i don't know what it is.  i go nuts on junk!  i guess it makes me feel better.   it really doesn't, though.

good luck, k9!  if you think really hard, you might come up with something that you would like to eat or something that might help you to feel better.  hubby likes grilled cheese when he's sick & i like pizza.  hehe  ok, fine!  i already said i go nuts on food when i'm sick, but yeah, i like pizza.

yeah tink!  it's really neat having another person in our group.  :D  you sound like me.  hehe  you figure before christmas even comes that you'll gain & are just hoping not to gain alot. 

anyways, i am getting pretty excited about all the food at christmas time now!  i will definately try to behave, though.  it sucks getting up to 140 again.  it sounds like you can really eat alot, too!  just like me & k9.

i just hope we all enjoy the holidays without gaining any weight.  i know it can be done, but we DO need to enjoy the food at least a little & it IS worth it.  we'll just have to eat healthier on the days that we can.

Personally for me if I don't enjoy the treats I want it will just end badly because I'll feel all deprived. So I'm gonna try just to relax. Have something when I want it. I always feel way to guilty though. I need to learn not to beat myself down over things just move on from it.

 

Well guys talk tomorrow eating my jell-0 then later heading to bed going to relax. Night :)

tinkerbell~  It's good that you don't deprive yourself too much.  I used to LOVE eggnog, but I'm afraid to touch it now.  I've seen some low fat versions in the soy milk section, thinking of maybe trying one of those. 

snowfence~  No problem.  ;)  I agree with you that Morton needs to eat more and should add a little bit at a time.  He shouldn't be worried about a few little pounds that come and go.  I'm sure he can stand to gain a few, even.  :)

I'm glad your hubby is being good!  Makes things easier.  No, I don't go nuts with junk when I'm sick... I've been trying to eat really healthy, hoping it'll help me get better.  Plus, I feel guilty I haven't been able to exercise.

As of right now, I'm not planning on indulging too much during the holidays.  It's not fun going back towards 140.  :(  I'll just have some of the things that I really want.

chill, tink!  how much did you lose?  i'd say you deserve treats...  just not too many  :D

yep...  morton sure can gain a few, but if not, at least he can eat more & see that it doesn't hurt him  :D

Nope, still not better today.  I've had it for a week now and it's not letting up, so I'm going to the doctor this afternoon.  I need antibiotics or something...

I lost a total of 120 pounds but stopped for a while do to health reasons then now got back down to 135 I weighed around 250 3 yrs ago. Its been a yoyo to be honest until about a yr or so ago I finally got help and its been better. Im just trying to be physically healthy but my mind isn't as healthy as my body is getting. And yes I need to chill lol but I cant at the moment. I want this to much and chilling isnt so easy for me.

 

 

OMG, tink!  that is awesome!!!  you lost 120 pounds?!  you should be really, really proud of what you have done.  that is so cool...

what's wrong with your mind?  wanting to binge here & there?  or is it personal?  you're not going too far, are you?  getting too skinny?

i know how hard it is to chill.  :(  when my family started getting on my case, i cried.  LOL  i literally cried...  all this work i've done, etc, and this is what i get?  "alright, quit already!"

i'd like to hear more, tink, and i think morton & k9 would, too.  either way, hang in there.

maybe you just mean that this site is too addicting?  lol  i know that, too!

Thanks Snow!  =)  I did get meds from the doctor... 2 different pills, eye drops, and an inhaler.  Still coughing like a maniac today though... keeps me up at night too.  Hoping the drugs will kick in soon and kill it!  Went out for mexican food and then ice cream... hubby was trying to cheer me up out of my cranky mood.  ;)
