major chocolate cravings

Quote  |  Reply
For the past few days I have had the most intense chocolate cravings! I had a super stressful week last week and I think that's the reason. What can I do to move on...tips? Let me know :)

Try to increase your protein intake, works for me.

When I get chocolate cravings, I make a chocolate smoothie or chocolate milk using Walden Farms zero calorie chocolate syrup.

Yum.

=^..^= MOLLY

If you have them in your area, you could try the Deep Chocolate Vitamuffins.  They're really pretty good.  And some people on here use diet hot chocolate to satisfy their cravings.

The alternative might be just to allow yourself a tiny bit of really high-quality chocolate every day.  The easiest way to satisfy a craving is to give into it, in moderation!  :)

I would suggest the chocolate vitamuffin route.  They satisfy the craving and keep you full for a little after so you don't just keep wanting more.  There's also sugar free jello pudding cups, they are like 60 calories and pretty tasty :)  Nutrition bars also usually come in a chocolate or chocolate peanut butter flavor.  I like the South Beach Diet snack bars or the Zone bars.  (I'm working on trying more flavors but so far so good!)
I'm a fan of having a small piece of really intense dark chocolate and then a glass of milk - makes me take in more protein and feel more full!

Low calorie fudgsicles are yummy satisfying
What can you do?  Have a piece of chocolate!  Figure out what kind you're craving and then have it.  Enjoy it as if it were a sensual experience, linger over it and savor it.  Don't think about guilt or calories, just enjoy the satisfaction.  Of course, don't eat 10 pieces either.

But do understand (which you sound like you already do) that you're probably fulfilling an emotional need with the chocolate and you should explore other ways to meet that need as well that don't involve food.

Remember, this is not something to feel guilty about.

I find that it really helps to identify not only the craving...but oddly the texture of the craving...I crave chocolate a lot, but I can find good alternatives if I know I'm craving crunchy, warm, smooth(etc). A lot of time I want something crunchy and smooth hehe so I dip graham crackers in sugar-gree chocolate pudding. Nonfat mochas are good warm ones and they lsat!Sweet/salty? Buy a single serving of raisinettes and mix it with soynuts! YUM
well, just resist it as long as possible! i notice that the longer i resist something, the less i'll have later cause i don't want to have disciplined myself in vain you know?  but don't worry, everyone has that chocolate fix sometimes :)
my favorite solutions to craving chocolate are either sugar free fudgsicles (i think 40 cals each) or sugar free jello pudding- 60 cals... my favorite is the chocolate mint sundae i think its called.. SOOOO freakin good =)

Hi,

If you are having major chocolate cravings you shouldhave some chocolate. Not an entire bar but just a little. The better and darker the chocolate, the healthier it is for you.

Once a person reaches thier weight loss goal they have to be able to control portions. One reason people gain back weight is becasue they cut out almost all the food they love in order to loose then go back to it once they've lost. The problem is they usually gain back the weight & even extra becaue they can't control their portions and impulses.

Try having a little chocolate. Eat is slowly and savour every bit of taste. then take a drink of coffee or something to cleans the pallet. Then have another little bite & so on. Remember the taste and enjoyment of the food is in your mouth not your stomach so eat small bites and eat slow. SO your mouth get's to enjoy it longer. Then you end up eating less.

Hope it helps :)

Its verrrrry good and such a great "hit the spot" for the chocolate craving. I buy them at Hannaford, their 100 calorie brownies in single packages, their all natural, and have 7g. fiber! They really hit the spot for my chocolate craving!
Try quaker dips too...they are yummy.....I like the granola chocolate chip kind.  They are covered in chocolate and remind me of a candy bar.
Make a chocolate banana milkshake

1 cp milk (100 cal)

1 banana (100 cal)

A whole tablespoon cocoa powder (12 calories)

Blend on high until nice and frothy!

I just discovered sugar-free mini tootsie roll pops. I was having a major chocolate craving so I had one of the chocolate flavored ones. Since it's a lollipop, it takes a while to finish, and it satisfies the chocolate craving and only has 15 calories. I highly recommend them.

Low calorie fudgsicles are yummy satisfying

Fudgsicles are yummy and satisfying - they come in 40, 60, & 80 calorie sizes too.

I also love Bryer's Double Churned (light) Chocolate ice cream - 100 calories per half cup - or Edy's Slow Churned Rockey Road - I think it's 120 calories per 1/2 cup.  They're both very satisfying when I have the need for good chocolate flavor.

The bar suggestion is a good one too.  They're a little higher in calories @ 140 but I love the Fiber One Chocolate and Oat bars.  My kids go crazy for them too.

Black Bean Brownies

Lowfat Duncan Hines Brownie Mix

1c. Water

1 Can Black Beans (15oz)

Mix and bake according to the instructions.  I *swear* you can't taste the beans.

Calories: 152 per Brownie (I cut into 20 equal pieces)

These are the chewiest fudge like brownies you have ever eaten.  1 ALWAYS does the trick for me if I'm on a chocolate kick.

This can also be used with Cake Mix.

I currently have diet coke brownies in the oven - One box fudgy brownie mix (110 cals for 1/16th of the mix), and one cup (not can, cup) diet coke. I made them in cupcake tins, so I've actually got 24 brownies at 73 cals apiece! And I just tried one - super chewy and delicious. Can't taste the coke at all.

I sound like a commercial, but really I'm just pleased because I've been craving chocolate/baked goods for days, and these really hit the spot in a manageable way.

I hear ya! I love chocolate too...my new favorite chocolate snack is the Quaker Mini Delights chocolatey drizzle. They are like small rice cakie things that have chocolate stripes on them. They melt in your mouth!!! They come in 90 calorie packs, and hit the spot when you crave something sweet.
There's Nutella too...its like a chocolate hazelnut spread that I use in place of peanut butter sometimes.  Its so good and since its nuts, its not terrible for you.
