how to make chocolate oatmeal?
so everyone is always posting how to make yummy oatmeal and ive heard of people putting in cocoa powder.. how much do you add and do you add sweetener as well? i would really like to eat this for dinner tonight...
Cocoa powder is not sweet by itself, so you may find you want to add a little sugar. I'd guess you could start with a couple of teaspoons of cocoa for a serving of oatmeal, and add more to taste. You might also want to add a little bit of salt - that can enhance the chocolate flavor.
I LOVE this! Yes, you can buy unsweetened cocoa powder. I use a tablespoon of "Dagoba" brand, from Whole Foods. Look for something ~10-15 cals per tablespoon. It's very bitter on its own, so I add some Truvia, but you can add "real" sugar if you avoid the artificials.
It is so yummy... enjoy!
This is my favourite breakfast these days! I nuke up 1/3 cup of quick oats, and when they're finished, add in about a tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder and a packet of stevia. One packet will negate the bitterness of the cocoa, 2 packets will add a nice sweet flavour though! I also add a splash of almond breeze to make it nice and creamy. Mash in half a banana for a heavenly 200 calorie breakfast or snack!
OH THANK YOU SO MUCH! THIS SOUNDS SO GOOD.. OFF TO MAKE IT NOW.. WITH A SCOOP OF PB MELTED ON TOP! YUMMY!
