sitting in a small scale house (about 7' x 10') and weigh large dump trucks all day. I work at a Rock Quarry for the #1 mining company in Ohio and I get paid to simply sit in a chair, type in a bunch of numbers, weigh a dump truck filled with aggregate, and hand them their ticket. I do this everyday, 10 hours a day.

Anyone ever sit back and think ... "how the h*ll did I ever end up here?"

What do you do?? I'm curious ..

walking through a warehouse, getting my just-pedicured feet filthy from dirt looking for a technician that can tell me exactly how many gallons of water pumps through a 14 year old Kenmore washing machine versus a brand new frontload energy efficient washer.

i sell appliances, and it's a hassle.

hmm, sounds just as fun as my job *wink, wink* .. lol
I work for my husband he is an electrical contractor.

Oh the glamour!

I will say I would take my job over yours tho at least I get to work from my home office and I dont gotta see yucky sweaty truckers dumping their loads so to speak on a daily basis hehe.
I hire 'yucky, sweaty' truck drivers :) LOL
seriously, I work for a CDL driver recruiting company. I interview and hire drivers all day.
I love it though, since I can wear whatever I want, since I only deal with our clients on the phone and the only people I actually SEE are the drivers. No need to dress up for them :)

by sitting at a desk all day, being someone's bitch.   Im an administrative assistant for a very large pharmaceutical company.  I occasionally answer a phone or two, make some travel arrangements, file, create some spreadsheets....

and when I'm not working, which is often, I'm on CC!  Laughing

Same as stlgirl, but for a general contractor
oh,, I know what you mean about the *yucky, sweaty* truck drivers - especially in the hot summers when they take off their shirts .. but I agree with you mcderin -- I wear jeans and a t-shirt to work everyday,, and if I feel like it I just throw on a ball-cap. It's nice not to have a "dress-code" to follow ..
And, as stlgirl mentioned, I am online all day searching for resumes so I can be on CC as much as possible.

It's a good thing :) LOL

I review other people's models, send them letters to tell them how much they suck and how they can fix it, answer phones and, occasionally, I write final letters OK'ing changes in floodplain maps.

I find that this is not a difficult job and there's generally sufficient time to be online.

Usually.

I also search resumes all day trying to find candidates to submit for client's job openings.  Best job, work from home, set my hours but not easy because clients have specific applicant expectations.  Love it though.
I work at a mental health agency. Basically I get told I should leave then they tell me they are gonna shoot me or cut me or kill me. Make general threats. Hide in dark corners and wait till i pass by when they are mad and general other crazyness like punch holes through walls and the like. Get my car kicked and spit on and the windshield broken.

On the up side on good days I get to go fishing all day long and read books and watch movies and hang out with some really interesting and generally caring people.
i'm a settlements associate at a hedge fund. i started out as a receptionist/admin here so it's pretty sweet. basically i help make sure our trades are confirmed and go through ok, and i do a bunch of other clerical type crap. i also spend a significant amount of time on CC haha. it's is pretty cushy here though, nice desk with an awesome view. and they feed us! and all our parties have open bars :)

....telling electronics manufacturers how build our products correctly, or bitching them out for shipping defective products out to our customers and how they need to fix it.  A few pointless meetings thrown in almost everyday with me wondering when our department is going to get some new hires.  I travel every now and then so I can complain to the suppliers in person (Mexico) and get some good tequila.  :-)

wow,, everyone seems to have some perdy interesting jobs!
I am a restaurant manager. I am around food all day long. I am lucky that my job is a pretty active one. I walk at least 5 miles a day at work.
I work at an aquarium store, taking care of and selling cute little fishies.  Most of my day involves explaining what fish can and can't go into which aquarium, testing customers' water, and trying to help people solve problems with their tanks.

It stays pretty interesting, at least.
Work at a world wide jeep parts company =)
I'm doing freight forwarding, it's a desk job and I organize the shipping of commercial goods by ocean freight. Its neat aspects are that I have to do with all the world on any given day but there's so much routine too. It's easy going and close to home, which are big plus points.

Aside from the above I'm a freelance translator doing work in my own time, translating from German <> English.

I love what I do!

I work as a nurse in a newborn nursery. I get to go to deliveries and take the babies from doctors immediately after birth and clean them up, resucitate if necessary, give shots, get footprints, etc. We also follow the newborns until they go home, verifying vital signs, feedings, diaper changes, etc. I work nights, so I get to play with the babies when their moms send them in for the night! :)
