I have not been able to find prune butter. Can I make it myself?
Prune butter is a substitute for fat in baking. Sunsweet make a nice one called Lighter Bake Fruit Puree, but you can use this recipe to make one cup of prune butter: Take 8 ounces of pitted prunes (about 1 1/3 cups) and 6 tablespoons of water; place all ingredients in a food processor and process at high speed until the mixture becomes a smooth paste. Place the butter in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Do not use a blender because the butter is too thick.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
