How Many of Us Make Seperate Meals For Family?

Quote  |  Reply
I am just curious.  My hubby is open minded about certain things but not fish.  I love fish.

How many of us make seperate meals for family members so that you can eat healthier?  How often?

gvaughn, My daughter just read your post and said... look that sounds like you mom!  so your not alone: )
I'm paraphrasing your words.."making seperate meals for family members so that I can eat healthier.."

Are you sure that you want to eat healthier than your family? Shouldn't you prepare healthy foods for all of them and encourage them to learn to eat properly too?

I tried very hard to prepare good food for my family to prevent them from becoming obese from poor choices due to "not liking" something. One way I did this was serving a meat, a vegetable, a fruit and a starch at the evening meal. Most everyone likes fruit, so I'd encourage a "try tasting it" to what they don't like and allow them to fill up on what they do. I also prepared "disliked" foods with different textures, seasonings, etc - and found that sometimes what they don't like is the seasoning or texture, not really the food itself

just a thought...
To all of the moms that make separate meals...especially for your daughters: I am recovering from multiple eating disorders including anorexia/bulimia and BED and I'm only 19. I've been seeing a counselor and she found that some of my eating probelms have evolved because my mother used to make different meals for herself. For example: She would make me Ego waffles every morning and then make herself a hard boiled egg on a piece of wheat bread. So, I constantly have watched my mom restrict and deny herself foods she really likes and I, in turn, did the same thing in order to lose weight. However, it got out of control. Just a warning...please be careful because your daughters are watching you so closely and they pay attention to how you look at yourself and how conscientious you are about your weight.
